Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation and impact of digital storytelling in improving students' speaking skills in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) class. As speaking remains one of the most challenging language skills for EFL students, various creative teaching strategies have been developed to address these challenges, one of which is digital storytelling. The research was conducted as a case study involving students of the English Study Program at Kuningan University. Through qualitative descriptive methods, data were collected using observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the digital storytelling process involves several stages: scriptwriting, voice recording, collecting supporting media, and video editing, with lecturers acting as facilitators. The implementation of this technique proved effective in enhancing students' confidence, fluency, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Additionally, it fostered students’ creativity, motivation, and independent learning attitudes. The study also highlights some obstacles, such as students’ limited video editing skills and the time-consuming nature of the process. Nevertheless, the findings support previous research that digital storytelling offers an engaging, interactive, and adaptable learning environment, making it a valuable tool in EFL classrooms to improve speaking ability. Therefore, it is recommended that this method be integrated regularly into speaking courses with proper technical guidance provided for students.

Abstract

This study examines how students at SMP Negeri 1 Demak perceive learning English in class, as they recognize the importance of being able to speak English in today's global and connected world. Many students know that learning English is important for their future. Still, when they are asked to speak English in class, they often feel anxious and unsure of themselves, especially when they fear making mistakes and being judged. This is a common problem in middle schools because students don't get to talk much. This study used a quantitative data method with 40 students from grades VII to IX as participants. The data was collected through open-ended questionnaires that asked students about their challenges, preferences, and suggestions. The results reveal that students are more likely to speak up when the classroom is calm and friendly. They like to learn when it's fun, like making videos, playing games, or talking to friends. Students think that it is very important for their professors to talk to them and give them emotional support in class so that they feel safer. Teachers should be kinder, tell their kids the truth, and allow them to participate without being afraid of making mistakes. Changing the way they teach might help teachers and students who are nervous about speaking. This will assist kids learn how to talk to each other better, which is a skill that is very vital in the 21st century.

Abstract

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is still a major concern in national development. One of the key factors influencing the quality of education at the educational unit level is the role of the principal. The principal not only carries out administrative functions, but is also required to be an instructional leader who is able to create positive changes in the school environment. This study aims to conceptually examine the role of the principal in improving the quality of education, with a focus on leadership, school management, and coaching of educators. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature studies. Data sources were obtained from relevant literature, either in the form of books, scientific articles, or previous research results that discuss the topic of educational leadership and school quality management. The results of the study show that principals who apply a transformative and participatory leadership style are able to increase teacher work motivation, encourage learning innovation, and create a school culture that supports quality improvement. In addition, the principal's ability to supervise academics, formulate a strategic vision, and build partnerships with various stakeholders also determines the success of the education quality improvement program. The conclusion of this study confirms that the success of schools in achieving quality standards is highly dependent on the effectiveness of the principal's role. Therefore, strengthening the capacity of principals through ongoing training and policies that support school autonomy is an urgent need. This research is expected to be a reference in designing strategies to improve the quality of education based on school leadership.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar sering kali menghadapi kendala dalam menyampaikan konsep-konsep abstrak, seperti materi diagram. Minimnya media konkret kontekstual menjadi salah satu penyebab rendahnya pemahaman siswa.
