Abstract

In order to ensure continuity of the qualified next generation, then it begins from preconception and conception until pregnancy, birth and life as a child. Building child intelligence and child right to life begin from fetus in the uterus. The development of brain structures and circuits that are the factors of intelligence begins in the fetus and hereafter intelligence is influenced by two interrelated factors, those are hereditary factors and environment. Clinical assessment of children's intelligence factors is assessed since newborns. Simple clinical assessment indicator in assessing the intelligence of the fetus or newborn is assessed from the neurobehavioural reflex. Health and stimulation during pregnancy affects the outcomes quality of newborn. Objective of this study is to identify the influence of Brain Booster against Neurobehavioural reflexes of Newborn in RB Amanda Sleman, Yogyakarta in 2015. The study was a true experiment with Randomized Ccontrolled Trial with post-test with control group single blind. Research subjects for the experimental group were pregnant women with Brain Booster treatment while for the control group were pregnant women with ANC routine without Brain Booster. Total sample was 40 samples with 20 respondents for each group. Random sampling technique was used for study subjects which meet the criteria for inclusion. The data were collected using standard instrument of NNNS (Neonatal Neurobehavioural Network Scale) scores and HNNE (Hammersmith Neonatal Neurologic Examination) scores that had been modified. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-test. There were differences in average scores between the treatment groups given Brain Booster compared to the control group without Brain Booster by 23.7 with significance of 0.000 (p-value of <0.05). The difference in the score of each sub-variables of neurobehavioural reflex showed no significant difference between the treatment group and control group, with overall significance of 0.000 (p-value <0.05); including posture and tone score of 8.750, primitive reflex scores amounted to 7.100, activity reflex scores amounted to 2.600, behavior and orientation pattern score amounted to 3.750 and the general status of neurobehavioural was1,500. Threfore, overall scores of neurobehavioural was higher in the treatment group than the control group. Brain booster can increase newborns' neurobehavioural reflexes. Brain booster can improve some aspects of neurobehavioural reflexes including: posture and tone; primitif reflexes; activity response; patterns of movement; orientation and behavior patterns as well as common neurobehavioural status in newborns.

Abstract

Giwangan Market in Yogyakarta is a main market for fruits and vegetables which supplies people's daily needs. In addition to sell-and-buy transaction as is in other markets, it is common to find porters carrying fruit and vegetables on their shoulders or on their backs. One of the risks faced by the porters related with those carrying activities is health impact, in the form of musculoskeletal disorders (MDs). To understand whether their working styles are ergonomic or not, analysis on factors of those informal workers are: age, gender, working life, average of the weight which is carried, and frequency of the carrying activities in one time unit, and working posture. The study method used was a cross-sectional designed survey, where those factors or characteristics of the porters were the independent variables and the incidence of MDs was the observed dependent variable. The data of independent variables were collected by using questionnaire, except for working posture, OWAS method was used, and the measurement of MDs employed NBM questionnaire. The data were analyzed with chi-square test at 95 % level of confidence to reveal the significance of relationships among variables under study. The results showed that for working posture, from 102 respondents, 82 porters (80,39 %) were categorized in level 4, i.e. correction for burden carrying technique is urgent to be implemented by now; 13 porters (12,75 %) were categorized in level 3, i.e. that correction is needed as soon as possible. The number of respondents who suffered from severe MDs were 39 persons(38,24 %), moderate MDs were 52 persons (50,98 %) and the rest 11 porters (10,78 %) were of mild MDs. There are significant relationships between age, gender, average of burden weight, and working posture, with the incidence of MDs (p values < 0,05); while frequency of carrying activity and working life, were not found related with the disorders. To implement the correction efforts in carrying style among the porters, the findings of this study furthermore will be informed to the Head of Giwangan Market as well as the related government agencies, in order to prevent the MDs incidence at the very early stage.

Abstract

Examination of platelets count is one of hematological examinations. This examination used K3EDTA blood samples which is better to be examined directly. The large number of blood samples in hospital causes nurses who take the sample do not directly bring them to laboratory and process of changing shifts on laboratory workers allows for a delay, causing platelets count decrease, so the K3EDTA blood sample should be stored at the refigerator (2-8°C) when examination delays. This study was aimed to find out the differences result of platelets count in the K3EDTA blood stored at room temperature (24-29ºC) and refigerator (2-8oC) for 2 hours. This study is a quantitative approach to the design of observational analytic with cross-sectional study, where K3EDTA blood tests stored at room temperature (24-29ºC) and refigerator (2-8º C) at the same time. The subjects of this research were 30 blood samples were taken using vein puncture from Health Analyst students aged around 18-21 years old and had no history of blood disorders, especially abnormalities of platelet count. The result of platelets count examination of K3EDTA blood stored in refigerator (2-8°C) for 2 hours tend to be higher than in K3EDTA blood samples stored at room temperature (24-29°C), with p value 0.046 (p <0,05). The average number of platelets in the K3EDTA blood stored at room temperature (24-29°C) was 276,000 cells/mm3 and stored in refrigerator (2-8°C) was 304 000 cells/mm3. The conclusion is there are significant differences in the result of platelets count in the K3EDTA blood stored at room temperature (24-29ºC) and refigerator (2-8°C) for 2 hours.
