Abstract

Global plastic production exceeds 320 million tons annually, with over 40% being single-use plastics. Indonesia generates approximately 7 million tons of waste annually, of which 4.9 million tons are poorly managed. Ineffective waste management necessitates specialized processing, such as composting using Biopot—biodegradable pots made from organic materials and waste—supporting sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly waste management. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a control group. Biopot made of plastic and earthenware are utilized for composting at depths of 60, 80, and 100 cm. The samples consist of 170 liters of organic waste collected from 50 households in Sukunan. Data analysis employs MANOVA to assess the effects of pot type and depth on compost quality. The highest average reduction in organic waste volume was observed in biopori (50.25%), followed by plastic Biopot (39.40%) and earthenware (38.05%). The quality of the compost met SNI standards, exhibiting neutral pH and appropriate C/N ratios. The plastic Biopot at 60 cm depth demonstrated the greatest effectiveness in compost production. Biopot successfully reduces organic waste by 39.40% (plastic) and 38.05% (earthenware), yielding compost that meets SNI standards. The plastic Biopot at a depth of 60 cm is the optimal choice for household organic waste composting.

Abstract

Severe head injury (SHI) is a medical emergency that requires fast and accurate imaging evaluation. One of the main challenges in SHI cases is detecting skull base fractures that are not visible through clinical examination. Non-contrast head CT is widely used because it provides detailed visualization of brain and skull structures without the need for contrast agents. This study aims to describe the technical procedure of non-contrast head CT in a patient with clinical signs of SHI and suspected skull base fracture at the Radiology Department of RS Syarif Hidayatullah. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through participatory observation and analyzed descriptively. The scan revealed subacute subdural hemorrhage, bilateral subarachnoid hemorrhage, midline shift, right cerebral edema, and signs of herniation. No calvarial fracture was found, but the radiological findings indicated severe brain injury. The scan was performed using 0.48 mm thin slices with proper patient positioning, resulting in optimal image quality. In conclusion, non-contrast head CT is an effective diagnostic tool for identifying structural brain injuries in SHI patients. It is fast, safe, and provides accurate results to support clinical decision-making

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Low back pain or commonly called Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the health problems that is often experienced due to frequent or repetitive physical activity. One of the non-pharmacological interventions that can help reduce low back pain is a warm compress of shallots, the warmth produced by shallots increases blood vessel flow so that tense muscles relax. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. The population in this study were all fishermen in the work area of UPTD Puskesmas II Negara. A total of 57 respondents were selected using qouta sampling technique. The intervention was carried out by giving warm onion compresses with a time of 20 minutes per session given for 5 consecutive days. The pain scale was measured before and after the intervention using the NRS pain scale observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate to severe pain. After giving warm onion compress, there was a significant decrease in pain levels. The Wilcoxon test shows a value of Z = -7.421 with P < 0.001, which means there is a significant difference between pain before and after the intervention. Discussion: The results showed that the intervention of warm onion compress was effective in reducing low back pain in fishermen. Further research with a control group is recommended to strengthen the results. Keywords: Warm compress, shallots, fishermen, low back pain, non-pharmacological therapy

Abstract

Introduction: Lower Back Pain (LBP) is a discomfort condition commonly experienced by individuals, especially weavers, causing muscle stiffness and soreness. If not treated properly, this condition may reduce their productivity. This study uses a non-pharmacological approach by examining the effect of effleurage massage with ginger oil on the intensity of low back pain among the Putri Mas group in Batuagung Village. Methods: The study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-test dan post-test approach. The population consisted of weavers from Putri Mas Group in Batuagung Village. A total of 53 respondent were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention was given by massaging the respondent’s back using effleurage technique with ginger oil for 15 minutes per session. Pain intensity before and after the intervention was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Before the therapy, all weaver experienced lower back pain, mostly in the moderate pain category. After the intervention, all weaver showed a decrease in pain intensity with most of them in the mild pain category. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a Z value of -6,783 with a p-value <0,001, which means the result is significant (p < 0,05). Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Discussion: The result showed that effleurage massage using ginger oil had an effect in reducing lower back pain intensity in weavers. Future studies are recommended to include a control group and a larger sample across weaving groups Keyword: Effleurage massage, ginger oil, lower back pain, non-pharmacological therapy
