Abstract

Introduction: this study seeks to identify the relationship between stress and resilience, emotional intelligence, and clinical performance of nursing college students, and to understand the impact of these variables on clinical performance. Purpose: First, the stress, resilience, and emotional intelligence of nursing college students identify the degree of clinical performance. Second, we identify the differences in stress, resilience, emotional intelligence, and clinical performance according to the general characteristics of nursing college students. Third, identify the correlation between stress, resilience, emotional intelligence and clinical performance of nursing college students. Fourth, identify factors that affect clinical performance of nursing college students. Methodology: This study was conducted on 95 nursing students in the third and fourth grades of Daegu University. The subjects of the study were third and fourth grade students with internship experience. Findings: Clinical performance is emotional intelligence (B=.172, p=0.034), recovery elasticity (B=.481, p=0.001). In other words, the higher the emotional intelligence and resilience, the higher the clinical performance. Implication: Nurses' clinical performance is an important concept that directly affects nursing and hospital-wide efficiency (Park, 2007) , and it is urgent to identify and improve clinical performance and professional skills (Kim, 2020) . Nursing college students develop clinical performance skills to integrate overall nursing knowledge and practice through clinical practice, apply communication skills and basic nursing skills in practice, learn problem-solving skills, and develop value systems as professional nurses.

Abstract

Introduction – Blood is one of the most important organts in human body. Blood samples are usually obtained by drawing blood in a vein known as phlebotomy. Blood specimen collection generally can be done with various postures including lying on a bed or sitting down. Patient should sit comfortably in a suitable chair or lying down when taking blood because posture can cause significant changes in blood cell components such as hemoglobin. Purpose – This research aims to determine whether there's a difference between hemoglobin levels with sitting and lying blood sampling techniques Methodology/Approach – The type of research used is comparative cross-sectional, conducted at the Hematology Laboratory IKesT Muhammadiyah, Palembang. Samples were taken from 30 respondents who entered the inclusion criteria. The research results were processed using Statistical Product and Service Solution(SPSS) program. Research data on differences in hemoglobin levels with the sitting and lying blood sampling technique were analyzed using the Dependent T test. Findings – The average of hemoglobin level in sitting position obtained was 12,7mg/dL, while in the lying position was 12,3mg/dL. The result of the dependent-t test, it was known the signature value was P=0,000. The P value obtained is <0,05, so it can be concluded that there's a significant difference between sitting and lying blood sampling techniques. Originality/ Value/ Implication – Difference between this research and other is that using a comparative cross-sectional method where the data processed using SPSS program. The component researched were also different, namely the hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

Introduction : Coronavirus infection-19 is now emerging as a worldwide infection. Unlike before, covid-19 has a fast spread of infection, and the incidence rate is increasing at an uncontrollable rate as no proven treatment has been developed. In particular, according to statistics by age of confirmed patients in Korea, the age of people in their 20s has the highest incidence rate, which is believed to be due to their higher activity compared to other ages. Purpose : university students should accurately recognize and implement infection control and prevention guidelines to maintain their health and prevent the spread of infection. In particular, nursing college students need to be careful not only because they are future medical personnel but also because they can be a source of infection for patients if they participate in clinical practice. Methodology : In this study, we decided to compare the relationship between covid-19 knowledge, attitudes, and implementation of infection prevention activities, and identify and compare the differences between nursing and other major engineering students. Naver form questionnaires were distributed to 80 students attending a four-year university and a technical university in Daegu. The collected data were used for technical statistics, T-test and correlation analysis using the SPSS 18 program. Findings : Significant relationships were drawn to Corona 19 related knowledge and attitudes, showing a positive attitude with higher knowledge levels, which also showed significant relationships in the implementation of infection prevention behaviors. Compared to other college students, nursing college students showed significantly higher levels of knowledge related to covid-19, and their attitude and implementation of infection prevention activities also showed higher scores on average, but did not show significant results. Originality : Based on the results of the study, even nursing college students, including some other college students, could identify the level of knowledge, attitudes, and implementation of infection prevention activities related to covid-19, and can be used to develop effective education guidelines.

Abstract

Introduction – Maternal health has remained as a nationwide concern especially due to Indonesia’s staggeringly high maternal mortality rate. Community development and promotion on prenatal and antenatal care has been implemented locally especially in rural areas with limited exposure to proper maternal education. Despite that, paternal understanding and involvement in maternal healthcare is a contributing factor that is commonly overlooked. Suami SIAGA is a campaign that has previously been enforced in Indonesia to promote paternal involvement pre- and post-birth with the hopes of instilling paternal responsibility and care for their partners for a better maternal outcome. Purpose – To analyse the effectiveness of the Suami SIAGA campaign in rural Indonesia as a campaign aiming to increase paternal involvement in community maternal healthcare Methodology – Literature search was conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines on international and national databases with additional materials from local university repositories until November 2020. A total of 600 studies were found with only cross-sectional studies being included. Critical appraisal of included studies was performed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for quality assessment Findings – 4 peer reviewed cross-sectional studies were included in this review with a total of 55.139 couples intervened. The articles showed a positive association between the SIAGA status of husbands and improved participation in maternal healthcare especially in antenatal care visits, routine pregnancy checks and overall involvement in partners’ routines. Value– This review is the first in analysing the Suami SIAGA campaign and has valuable information in contributing to Sustainable Developmental Goals 3.7 on sexual and reproductive health

Abstract

In recent years, shrimp is one of Indonesia's biggest fisheries export. It is causing a dramatic increase in shrimp shell waste production but yet a minimum way of utilization. Its most valuable material, chitosan, is called the magic of nature for its wide application, especially as a biocoagulant. Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide with a positive ion that can initiate the aggregation of red blood cells around the wound and form a thrombus. Chitosan is isolated from chitin by demineralization and deproteinization process that will determine the degree of deacetylation. Here, we investigate further whether it can effectively work as a biocogulant to control hemostasis in an emergency case like an open fracture. An open fracture is the most serious case of orthopedic injuries with early hemorrhage as one of the main causes of death. We found that gauze with chitosan-based can lessen bleeding without additional compression. In vitro study showed the effect of shortening clotting time that is essential to stop bleeding. The purpose of this literature review is to gain an understanding of the latest research relevant to the use of chitosan extract as a biocoagulant, including national and international articles and journals from 2011-2021 with a narrative method. The results show that chitosan can initiate red blood cell aggregation and shorten the clotting time rate.
