Abstract

Rapid advances in information technology have transformed multiple sectors, particularly education, where digital platforms play an increasingly vital role in academic operations. Study program websites now serve as primary channels for information dissemination and communication between institutions and their stakeholders. Yet the Informatics Engineering Study Program website at Universitas Bina Darma faces notable usability problems affecting both interface design and user experience quality. A heuristic evaluation survey of 100 students identified several critical issues: absent active menu indicators that hinder navigation tracking, unattractive visual layouts that reduce user engagement, and ambiguous icons and terminology that create confusion during interaction. To address these challenges, researchers employed the Design Thinking framework—a user-centered methodology that emphasizes empathy, ideation, and iterative testing. The framework guided the development of a redesigned prototype, which underwent rigorous evaluation through the Maze platform across four distinct user task scenarios covering key website functions. Test outcomes demonstrated 100% task completion rates among participants, with an average usability score of 89, placing the design in the excellent category. The redesigned interface delivers substantially improved user experience through enhanced navigation clarity, better visual hierarchy, and more intuitive interaction patterns. These improvements establish a solid groundwork for continued development and eventual implementation of systems, offering practical solutions that can be adapted for similar academic website redesign projects.

Abstract

Hospital mortality data management directly influences service quality and strategic decision-making capabilities. While electronic medical records have become standard practice in healthcare facilities, existing systems frequently lack the adaptive features necessary for efficient mortality reporting. We address these limitations through the development of a web-based mortality reporting system using Extreme Programming (XP) methodology and the Laravel Framework. The development process engaged two primary user groups: nurses responsible for data entry and medical record officers managing validation and reporting. Black-box testing validated system functionality against operational requirements. Performance evaluation revealed substantial operational gains: patient data entry time decreased from 7-10 minutes to 2-3 minutes, duplicate validation transitioned from manual verification to automated real-time checking, and quarterly report generation reduced from 2-3 hours to 10-20 seconds. The XP methodology, particularly pair programming practices, accelerated defect resolution and enhanced system responsiveness to user feedback. These results demonstrate that iterative development approaches combined with modern web frameworks can fundamentally transform healthcare data management workflows, replacing error-prone manual processes with reliable, efficient digital solutions.

Abstract

The growing demand for reliable Quality of Service (QoS) in Metro Ethernet networks has highlighted the need for a bandwidth management approach that is both standardized and efficient. This research explores the optimization of bandwidth configuration through the implementation of the ITU-T Y.1731 protocol, which operates within the framework of Ethernet Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM). A network simulation was carried out using the Enterprise Network Simulation Platform (eNSP) with Huawei devices, serving as a functional equivalent of Raisecom equipment. The study employed a quantitative experimental method, involving the design and configuration of a Metro Ethernet topology, the deployment of Connectivity Fault Management (CFM), and the activation of performance monitoring mechanisms such as Delay Measurement Message (DMM) and Loss Measurement Message (LMM). Key performance indicators analyzed included delay, jitter, and packet loss, observed before and after the Y.1731 implementation. The findings reveal that the application of Y.1731 improved bandwidth utilization efficiency by up to 25%, reduced average delay, minimized jitter, and produced measurable data for validating Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance. Overall, the integration of Y.1731 into Metro Ethernet networks based on Huawei devices demonstrates a practical and effective solution for strengthening service performance and ensuring network reliability.

Abstract

This paper is an SLR that maps the application of Apache Spark in data engineering in the business and finance domains. Practitioners and researchers alike would find it interesting to know how Apache Spark has been applied to solve big data problems as organizations continue to deal with large volumes of data. By analyzing publications from the Scopus database for 2021-2025, we try to find trends and methodologies currently in use as well as gaps in research existing in the field. It was found that Apache Spark is primarily used for sentiment analysis and trend analysis on social media, particularly Twitter, since its real-time processing capability can help understand market dynamics and consumer behavior. The platform carries out predictive tasks like predicting customer churn or pricing financial assets (stocks, bonds, options), proving its versatility across different business applications. Also, this platform is popular for anomaly detection such as transaction fraud with efficiency and cost being the main drivers of adoption. The landscape is not monolithic since some studies propose alternative platforms indicating that Apache Spark may not be the best option for every scenario. Based on our findings, we suggest future research directions that would push the boundaries of the field: using social media data sources other than Twitter for more general market sentiment, applying more varied algorithms to improve prediction accuracy, and extending Spark's application into new areas like currency exchange rate forecasting, credit risk analysis, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) detection as well as Data Lakehouse architecture implementation. These recommendations are meant to steer researchers toward uncharted territories where significant value could be unlocked for business and finance with the help of Apache Spark.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) technology is being widely adopted in various fields such as education, entertainment, and creativity. However, there are still some challenges to be overcome in recognizing and rendering three-dimensional (3D) objects accurately and in real-time. We implemented an AR system that utilizes deep learning techniques to recognize 3D objects with improved accuracy levels. Our approach involved training a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model using 3D object datasets captured from different viewpoints. The development included designing the network architecture, training the model, evaluating its accuracy, and integrating it into an AR platform based on Unity 3D and Vuforia SDK. The results indicated that the system could achieve recognition of the 3D objects with an average accuracy of 93.7%, precision of 92.4%, and recall of 91.8%, all while keeping response times below 0.8 seconds. Objects with complex geometries like cars and chairs had recognition rates above 94%, while those with similar textures had lower accuracy because of detailed surface complexities. It allows stable interactive visualization of objects in augmented reality even under different lighting conditions and camera angles. Combining deep learning with AR improves the quality of object recognition and provides a more realistic interactive experience. This paper discusses the advances made in AR technology toward better adaptability and efficiency, which can be applied to interactive education, industrial simulation, architecture, and medical fields.

Abstract

Inpatient medical record review is a major activity in ensuring the quality, completeness, and consistency of hospital healthcare documentation. Besides ensuring compliance with documentation standards, the review process also ensures that clinical services are accurately recorded for reference in future medical, legal, and administrative matters. This study aims to design a web-based information system that will facilitate structured, efficient, and integrated review workflows between medical record officers and other related units. The development of the system uses the Agile method which prioritizes flexibility and fast adaptation to user feedback so that improvements can be made iteratively. The prototype created can manage data input on reviews, generate summary results as well as reduce human errors usually found in manual entries. The hospital currently uses Google Spreadsheets and Google Forms which are tools with too many columns and prone to errors hence making tracking time and data inefficient. Usability testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) obtained an average score of 68.13 which is categorized as “acceptable” usability indicating that the system is easy to use and feasible for real implementation. This system is then a basic solution for workflow simplification, validation accuracy improvement, and increasing documentation reliability of medical records in hospital environments.

Abstract

This study examines the development of a web-based application designed to facilitate pet adoption through practical, structured, and location-based mechanisms. The primary problem addressed is the absence of digital platforms capable of integrating adoption processes more efficiently than traditional methods. The application employs Java Spring Boot for backend architecture, ReactJS for frontend interface, and MongoDB for data management. The Haversine formula with a 50 km radius was implemented to display animals based on proximity to users. Algorithm implementation results demonstrate that Haversine effectively calculates distances and presents animals according to nearest locations, thereby enhancing search accuracy and relevance for prospective adopters. Core functionality includes a WebSocket-based real-time chat system enabling direct communication between prospective adopters and owners without page reloading. System development followed the Waterfall model encompassing requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing phases. Evaluation through User Acceptance Testing (UAT) using a 1-4 Likert scale yielded satisfaction rates of 82% among prospective adopters and 84.5% among pet owners, both categorized as "highly satisfied." These findings validate that the application serves as a more efficient and structured alternative, with potential for further development to support expanding user bases in the future.

Abstract

Manual recording of the meeting minutes is often ineffective and has a high error rate. It makes access to needed information not fast. This research tries to solve these problems by designing and developing an end-to-end mobile application called Notulen.AI, which combines voice-to-text and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to automatically generate meeting minutes and summaries. The application was developed using the Flutter framework, with the Google Gemini API mainly used as the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) service and for NLP analysis. The research methodology consists of system design, module implementation, and testing to see performance and effectiveness. Testing on ASR modules gets good results with an average Word Error Rate (WER) of 6.75%. The NLP module also works well in extracting important information with ROUGE-1 scoring at 0.78 and F1-Score at 0.85. Effectiveness testing involving five respondents showed that this application could reduce minute-taking time by up to 70% and got a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 85.5, which indicates high user acceptance. This research therefore proves that the integration of ASR and NLP on a mobile platform can be an efficient solution to enhance documentation accuracy in meetings.

Abstract

Data security concerns have increasingly become a challenge to cloud computing services due to rising incidents of cyberattacks, identity theft, and data manipulation. The perimeter-based security model is ineffective because of vulnerabilities in authentication and access control, thus necessitating an adaptive layered approach. This paper presents attempts to merge Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) with Blockchain technology as one possible way to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in cloud environments. Research methodology comprises a detailed review of related literature, system architecture analysis, and simulation of the conceptual merger using encryption protocols and smart contracts. Results revealed that ZTA significantly reduces the opportunities for unauthorized access through multi-layered verification and least privilege principles while Blockchain provides a decentralized transparent immutable method for recording transactions on data. The hybrid will enhance security substantially against breaches from external attackers and insiders with an already established verifiable audit trail. This paper concludes that such a merger could create a stronger model—one that is more measurable—and sustainable for securing today's cloud infrastructure.
