Abstract

This study employed a rigorous Factorial Group Random Design (RAK) method to investigate the synergistic effects of Liquid Complementary Fertilizer (PPC) and NPK Compound Fertilizer on the growth and yield of tomato plants. The research consisted of two key factors: PPC with four dosage levels (control, 3 g/L, 6 g/L, and 9 g/L of water) and NPK Compound Fertilizer with four levels (control, 200 kg/ha, 400 kg/ha, and 600 kg/ha) - all replicated three times. Data on critical plant parameters such as height, leaf count, flower abundance, and fruit production were meticulously gathered and analyzed. Remarkably, the combined application of PPC and NPK exhibited significant enhancements in both growth and yield, surpassing the effects observed from individual applications. Our findings highlight the immense potential of this innovative fertilizer combination in revolutionizing tomato crop production, offering a promising avenue for farmers to meet agricultural demands efficiently. Highlights: Utilized a robust Factorial Group Random Design (RAK) methodology to examine the impact of PPC and NPK Compound Fertilizer on tomato plant growth and yield. Investigated various dosage levels of PPC and NPK, each replicated three times for precise data analysis. The synergistic effects of the combined application outperformed individual applications, showcasing a promising approach to optimize tomato crop production. Abstract

This study focuses on enhancing the safety and durability of AlMgSi, a research reactor fuel cladding/structural material, through surface hardening using the plasma nitriding method. The goal is to improve the material's resistance to corrosion while maintaining its integrity under nuclear reactor conditions. AlMgSi samples were nitrided at 448 K for varying times, and the workpiece with the highest surface hardness underwent corrosion and composition tests. The results demonstrated a significant increase in surface hardness by 49% (from 62.35 VHN to 92.79 VHN) and a notable reduction in corrosion rate by 69% (from 11.22 mpy to 3.51 mpy) after plasma nitriding for 3 hours at 448 kelvin. Highlights: Significantly improved surface hardness: Plasma nitriding at 448 K for 3 hours resulted in a remarkable 49% increase in surface hardness, enhancing the material's resistance to wear and deformation. Effective corrosion protection: The plasma-nitrided AlMgSi exhibited a notable 69% decrease in corrosion rate, ensuring the material's longevity and safety under harsh reactor environments. Enhanced nitrogen content: The nitrogen content in AlMgSi increased from 0 to 5.13% atoms after the nitriding process, contributing to the material's improved mechanical and chemical properties.

Abstract

This study presents the chemical characterization and categorization of fly ash waste obtained from the combustion of coal by PT Indonesia Power II Cilacap. The fly ash samples were sieved using multilevel sieve shakers with sizes of 120, 270, and 325 mesh to achieve uniform particle sizes. Chemical and oxide element analysis was conducted using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) on 100-gram portions of each sample at the Integrated Research and Testing Laboratory (LPPT) UGM. The results reveal that the fly ash from PT Indonesia Power II Cilacap belongs to class C due to its CaO content exceeding 10% (mass %). The findings contribute to the understanding of fly ash waste characteristics and its potential for further research as an adsorbent. Highlights: Chemical Characterization of Fly Ash: Analysis using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) revealed the composition of fly ash waste obtained from PT Indonesia Power II Cilacap, with a significant CaO content of 13.70% (mass %). Categorization into Class C: The high CaO content (>10%) classifies the fly ash as Class C, based on ACI Manual of Concrete Practice guidelines, indicating its suitability for specific applications in further research. Potential as an Adsorbent: The findings contribute valuable insights into the utilization of fly ash waste as an adsorbent material, suggesting potential applications in environmental remediation and engineering studies.
