Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) significantly contributing to morbidity and mortality. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and age are critical factors influencing major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). However, limited research has examined their combined impact on NSTE-ACS patients. This study aims to analyze the relationship between LVEF and age with the incidence of MACE in NSTE-ACS patients at Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou General Hospital, Manado, from January to December 2023. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using medical record data from NSTE-ACS patients. The study examined LVEF, age, and MACE incidence over six months using Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact tests. Among 85 patients meeting inclusion criteria, 42.35% experienced MACE. Patients with reduced LVEF had a significantly higher incidence of MACE than those with preserved LVEF. Older patients, particularly those in the 75–84 age group, exhibited a higher tendency for MACE. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant relationship between LVEF and MACE (p=0.006), while age showed a non-significant correlation (p>0.05). The findings highlight the importance of early LVEF assessment in NSTE-ACS patients to improve risk stratification and optimize management strategies. Future studies should explore interventions to mitigate age-related cardiovascular risks.

Abstract

Efforts to increase rice production in Indonesia are crucial due to the country’s large population and heavy reliance on rice as a staple food. While chemical pest control has been widely used, it is costly and harmful to the environment. Therefore, alternative eco-friendly approaches, such as utilizing refugia plants and predators, are needed. This study aims to analyze the influence of refugia plants on predator presence and their impact on rice production. The research is conducted in Maleber, Kuningan Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Primary data collection takes place from July to December 2024, with processing in January 2025. This quantitative study employs a survey method with 120 randomly selected farmers who use refugia plants in rice cultivation. Data is analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. The findings indicate a complete mediation effect, where refugia plants significantly influence predator presence (0.93), which in turn positively affects rice production (0.97). The most dominant indicator in refugia variables is the embankment area allocated for refugia planting (0.86), while in predator variables, it is the frequency of predator sightings (0.86). These results suggest that environmentally friendly and sustainable rice production can be improved by optimizing embankment areas for refugia planting and enhancing predator populations in rice fields.

Abstract

The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has a privileged status based on historical, philosophical, juridical, and socio-psychological aspects that distinguish it from other regions in Indonesia. The legal politics of local governments in Indonesia adheres to an asymmetrical decentralization system that allows for differences in authority for certain regions, including DIY. This study aims to analyze the privileges of DIY in the context of local government legal politics, focusing on the legal basis, implementation, and impact on local government governance. The method used is a juridical-normative approach with descriptive analysis, where data is obtained through a literature study of relevant laws and regulations, such as Law Number 13 of 2012 concerning DIY Privileges, as well as related academic literature. The results of the study show that Yogyakarta has five special authorities, namely in filling the positions of Governor and Deputy Governor, local government institutions, culture, land, and spatial planning. In addition, this privilege is also followed by the provision of special funds to support the implementation of the policy. In conclusion, the uniqueness of DIY is a form of recognition of the history and culture inherent in the region as well as the implementation of asymmetric decentralization in the local government system in Indonesia. This research provides a deeper understanding of how legal politics supports the sustainability of the privileged status of DIY within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
