Abstract

21st-century education is a process of enhancing both the quantity and quality of overall talent or potential, empowering individuals to develop better personal character so that the knowledge gained can be applied in their lives. This paper aims to explore how Jesus' teaching methods can be applied as an effective strategy for 21st-century education. 21st-century education encourages educators to utilize technology as a medium for learning, where the learning process and outcomes focus not only on the results achieved but also on the classroom learning process. This study employs a qualitative research method based on a literature review to analyze the issues the author wishes to investigate. The findings of the research indicate that educators should emulate and adopt Jesus' teaching methods by utilizing technology as a means of delivering education to students, particularly in the field of Christian religious education. This approach can effectively transfer knowledge about Christian teachings, thereby enhancing students' faith and spirituality to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, educators must strive to educate students to keep up with the developments of the 21st century, fostering critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, all based on the Word of God and the fear of God.

Abstract

Learning interest is an internal drive that motivates individuals to learn something willingly and without coercion, leading to optimal learning outcomes. Online learning, on the other hand, refers to the teaching and learning process conducted without face-to-face interaction, supported by internet access and technological devices such as smartphones, laptops, or computers. The implementation of online learning during the pandemic has had varying effects on students' learning interest. This study aims to determine whether online learning influences the learning interest of students at Anak Bangsa Christian High School in Surabaya and to measure the extent of its impact. A quantitative method was employed in this research, with data collected through questionnaires completed by 60 respondents, representing the student population of Anak Bangsa Christian High School. The findings indicate a positive correlation between online learning and the learning interest of these students. The study reveals that students' learning interest increased with the enhancement of online learning methods. The contribution of online learning to shaping the learning interest variable among students at Anak Bangsa Christian High School in Surabaya was 57.5%. The study concludes that well-structured online learning can have a positive impact on students' learning interest. Online learning, when implemented interactively and creatively and supported by appropriate resources, can serve as an alternative learning system for the future, allowing students to more easily pursue study programs aligned with their talents and interests.

Abstract

This study is a textual analysis discussing the existence of Christian educational institutions for indigenous students under the Dutch colonial administration in the Dutch East Indies. The primary objective of this research is to examine the underlying motives behind the Dutch colonial government’s policies on Christian education for indigenous communities, specifically to determine whether these policies were politically or religiously motivated. Focusing on historical contexts, this research employs historical methods to reconstruct past events. The central question addressed is the Dutch colonial government’s main focus in shaping policies for Christian education through mission institutions for indigenous communities: whether these were driven by political interests or religious considerations. Data sources were obtained from literature and historical documents archived in data storage centers and libraries. The findings, using a structuration methodology, reveal a pragmatic dualism underlying the colonial government’s policies, which shifted according to the socio-political context.

Abstract

Jesus Christ, as the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4), serves as the primary model for spiritual leaders in fulfilling their pastoral duties. In John 10:11, Jesus is portrayed as a faithful Shepherd who lovingly cares for His sheep and is even willing to sacrifice His life for them. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and gave a special commission to Peter to undertake the pastoral task (John 21:15-17), emphasizing that this duty is a sacred calling entrusted by God to be carried out according to His will. This study aims to examine the Apostle Peter's advice on shepherding in 1 Peter 5:1-4 and its relevance for Christian Educators. The research employs a qualitative method using literature review and biblical text analysis to identify leadership principles in shepherding. The findings reveal that the Apostle Peter's advice includes four key principles for a shepherd's ministry: serving willingly, being sincere in devotion, exhibiting humility, and being a good example to the congregation. These principles are considered essential for cultivating the spirituality of service for a Christian Educator who acts as a lecturer or teacher. In conclusion, the Apostle Peter's advice on shepherding provides guidance for spiritual leaders to fulfill their roles as Christian Educators in accordance with Christ's example, characterized by love, integrity, and dedication.

Abstract

The use of gadgets as playmates for children has become increasingly common among modern parents. This trend has led to a shift in the parental role as play companions, especially during the developmental stage of children aged 1-5 years, known as the "golden age." This period is critical for the growth of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence, which significantly influences a child's future development. This study aims to examine the importance of parental involvement during the golden age by implementing a technology-based parenting approach (smart techno parenting) to support the development of a child's character, personality, and cognitive abilities. The research employs a literature review method, gathering data from relevant sources to understand the concept and application of smart techno parenting. Smart techno parenting has proven to be a wise approach for parents to protect, educate, discipline, and guide their children amid the influence of technology. Parents adopting this method must continuously learn and serve as primary role models for their children. Smart techno parenting is an effective strategy for optimizing a child's development during the golden age, enabling parents to act as intelligent companions who utilize technology wisely without neglecting the child's fundamental needs for play, learning, and direct interaction.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes across various fields, including Christian religious education. However, its implementation still faces multiple challenges related to effectiveness, acceptance, and its impact on teaching and learning. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of AI-based media in Christian education, identify the challenges that arise in its application, and explore its impact on both students and educators. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected through an analysis of relevant literature sources, including academic journals, books, and research reports discussing the use of AI in Christian religious education. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns in the utilization of AI in this context. The findings reveal that AI-based media can enhance student engagement, provide more interactive learning materials, and support personalized learning experiences. However, several challenges remain, such as the limitations of AI in understanding theological concepts, concerns about the potential reduction of spiritual values in technology-based learning, as well as technical barriers and educators' readiness to adopt AI. In conclusion, the integration of AI in Christian religious education offers significant opportunities to improve learning effectiveness, but it requires a thoughtful approach to ensure alignment with theological and pedagogical principles. The implications of this study emphasize the need for curriculum development that ethically integrates AI, as well as the enhancement of digital literacy among educators and students.
