Abstract

Free, honest and fair elections are indicators of a mature democratic country. To guarantee freedom, honesty and justice, administrative and legal instruments are needed that can guarantee the security of every stage of the general election process. One of them is the role of Election Crime Investigators in ensuring security and prosecuting violations that have criminal elements according to the law. Sentra Gakkumdu as a center for handling election crimes under one roof in an integrated manner between Bawaslu, Investigators and Prosecutors aims to align perceptions and patterns of handling election crimes. Technically, the mechanism and procedures for investigating election crimes are carried out by Investigators at the Sentra Gakkumdu which begins with the transfer of findings or reports that are election crimes from Bawaslu according to their level. Handling of election crimes at the Regional Bawaslu (Province and Regency/City) and Bawaslu at the Central level refers to the Election Law and is technically regulated in Perbawaslu No. 7 of 2022 and Perbawaslu 3 of 2023, and also the Criminal Procedure Code if otherwise specified in the Election Law. The purpose of this article is to examine and analyze the obstacles/constraints faced by investigators handling election crimes in an integrated manner through regional Bawaslu. This research is a normative legal research. The type of research is descriptive analysis. Data and supporting information are then identified and then systematized for interpretation and arguments are given to obtain conclusions on the problem. Gakkumdu as a center for law enforcement activities for Election Crimes was formed with the hope of bringing a fair, transparent, and accountable election process in the context of law enforcement for election crimes. However, in practice there are still shortcomings or obstacles, namely legal factors including: short handling time, overlapping authority between investigators and Bawaslu who are members of the Gakkumdu Center, limited authority of the Gakkumdu Center to present witnesses, reports or findings delegated by election supervisors to the Gakkumdu Center sometimes cannot be followed up by investigators because they do not meet formal or material requirements or are not election crimes, law enforcement factors including non-compliance with regulations, sectoral egos, facilities and infrastructure factors, community factors, and cultural factors.

Abstract

This study conducted a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation to analyze the hydrodynamics and mass transfer in a distillation column, focusing on the impact of adding steel wool packing on a sieve tray. Tray columns are commonly used in distillation processes but have drawbacks such as low separation efficiency and high pressure drop due to uneven flow distribution. As a solution, modifying the column by adding packing above the sieve tray has been proven to enhance mass transfer and tray efficiency. The study employed a multiphase Eulerian model, the k-epsilon turbulence model, and the species transport model to simulate a binary ethanol-water system. The simulation results show that the addition of steel wool packing produces smaller and more uniform bubbles, thereby increasing the interfacial area and the contact time between vapor and liquid. This leads to a more structured gas flow and a higher ethanol vapor concentration at the tray outlet, indicating improved separation efficiency compared to using sieve trays alone. This research provides an in-depth understanding of the internal physical phenomena that support the performance enhancement of distillation columns through the addition of packing.

Abstract

Hospital pharmacists play a vital role in ensuring safe and effective healthcare services. Their performance can be influenced by various psychosocial factors, including work-life balance, burnout, and job satisfaction. This narrative review aims to examine the relationship between work-life balance, burnout, and job satisfaction in relation to the performance of hospital pharmacists. Relevant literature was retrieved through academic database searches and analyzed descriptively. Findings indicate that poor work-life balance and high burnout contribute to lower job satisfaction, which in turn negatively affects performance. Conversely, good work-life balance and high job satisfaction are positively correlated with improved performance. This review highlights the importance of organizational support in managing the work environment of pharmacists to maintain productivity and pharmaceutical service quality.

Abstract

This research aims to understand how oil palm smallholders apply mental accounting in investment decisions on fixed assets, such as the purchase of heavy equipment, operational vehicles, and additional land. The approach used is qualitative with phenomenological methods to explore the subjective experience of oil palm farmers in managing and allocating financial resources. The results showed that farmers unconsciously divided funds into different "mental accounts", such as accounts for family needs, daily operating expenses, and special accounts for long-term investments. This division greatly influences their risk-taking preferences, especially when it comes to fixed asset investment decisions. This study contributes to the understanding of financial behavior in the agricultural sector and is relevant in the development of behavior-based financial assistance strategies.

Abstract

In 2020, flooding occurred in the village of Molibagu, causing damage and losses for the residents who live and work around the Molibagu River. One of the causes of this flood was heavy rainfall, which triggered an increase in the flow discharge of the Molibagu River. Therefore, an analysis of the flood discharge and water level in the Molibagu River is needed to minimize the potential risk of flooding and to determine effective control strategies based on developed scenarios. The objective of this research was to identify effective scenarios from several alternatives, including normalization and the addition of embankments on the left and right sides of the river, to control flooding. The Molibagu Watershed has an area of 38.7 km². Secondary data in the form of rainfall data was obtained from the Sulawesi I River Basin Office (BWSS-I). The rainfall stations ARR-MRG Kosinggolan Matayangan and MRG Bolangaso Molibagu are the sources of maximum daily rainfall data, which will be analyzed over the period from 2008 to 2022. To obtain the parameters needed to determine the peak discharge of 17.5 m³/s, the HEC-HMS software is used. After obtaining the calibrated parameters, the analysis will continue to determine the design flood discharge for various return periods using the HEC-HMS software. The design flood discharge for the return periods will then be input into the HEC-RAS software to obtain the inundation area and water surface elevation of the Molibagu River. As a form of flood control, three flood control scenarios are applied: normalization, embankments, and a combination of normalization and embankments, using RAS Mapper to model and show the extent of the inundated areas. Based on the simulation results obtained, the second scenario, which involves handling with normalization at the same elevation and based on existing flood discharge, is more effective in reducing water level height and mitigating flood overflow better than handling with levees. However, in this scenario, the river cross-section is not able to reduce the flood discharge at the 50 and 100 year return periods, so a combination of the first and second scenarios is needed to reduce the flood and there is no more inundation.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the disasters that often hit the Lolak Watershed (DAS) area and caused considerable losses. This study aims to evaluate the Lolak Dam in reducing flood risk in downstream areas through a hydraulic modeling approach and develop a flood forecasting model that is able to map flood areas in order to support flood control efforts. The data used include river topography, dam technical data and flood discharge data for 5, 25, 50 and 100 years which are then analyzed using HEC-RAS software version 5.0.7 and the output is input for the preparation of potential flood inundation maps. The results of the study show that the Lolak Dam is able to reduce the water level and reduce the area affected by flooding downstream. In addition, the model is used as in the preparation of hazard maps, vulnerability maps and flood risk maps. This research makes an important contribution to disaster mitigation planning and water resource management based on spatial data and hydraulic simulation.

Abstract

An Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a life-threatening gynecological emergency and a major cause of maternal mortality and morbidity all over the world. A high index of suspicion is curcial during the first trimester of pregnancy. A 29 year old woman came to emergency department with complaints severe abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, along with a positive pregnancy test at 8 weeks gestational age. The patient had misscariage history in prior pregnancy. Physical examination revealed abdominal tenderness and blood on OUE. Two weeks prior, an Transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) showed no gestational sac but thickening of the uterine wall, and a recent TVS indicated a collapsed gestational sac, hematocel, and hemoperitoneum. TVS also showed intramural uterine myoma in size 5x3cm. Disturbed EP with uterine leiomyoma or fibroid was confirmed with physical examination and TVS. We performed a successful laparotomy, salpingectomy, and myomectomy, with no complications. Surgical treatment was perfomed in this patients based on data suggestive of hemoperitoneum. Leiomyoma don’t directly cause ectopic pregnancy but potentially increase the risk. The clinical features along with identification of risk factors like leiomyoma and TVS imaging can confirm the diagnosis of EP. TVS can be helpful for early detection and guide treatment to improve the patient's hemodynamics.
