Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of naval power in World War II by comparing the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. The main issue addressed is how maritime dominance influenced the course and outcome of the war, and how naval strategies adapted to geographic and enemy-specific challenges. The research aims to analyze the impact of sea power, the strategic advantages of maritime dominance in logistics and offensives, and to compare the strategic approaches of both theaters. A comparative historical study with a qualitative-analytical approach was employed, based on literature reviews and document analysis. The findings indicate that naval power was crucial for sustaining supply lines and executing military offensives, with a defensive convoy strategy in the Atlantic and an offensive island hopping strategy in the Pacific. These contrasting approaches reflect military flexibility in adapting to terrain and enemy forces. This study confirms that maritime dominance not only shaped tactical victory but also laid the foundation for the postwar global geopolitical order.

Abstract

In planning earthquake-resistant building structures, especially in areas with a high seismic risk, it is crucial to consider earthquake resilience factors. Maximum ground acceleration and spectral response are seismic parameters used to design buildings in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 1726-2019 regarding earthquake-resistant building design. The spectral response values used for the comparison of reinforced concrete structures include the Local Spectral Response calculated using the Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) method with the assistance of EZ-FRISK software, the spectral response value from Spektra Design Indonesia, and SNI 1726:2019. The results of soil classification indicated that the soil layer at the research site was of medium type; therefore, the structural components of the Special Moment Resisting Frame System (SRPMK) were designed accordingly. Building modeling and analysis were conducted using ETABS version 19 software. Based on the results of the PSHA analysis, the Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) value for the 2500-year earthquake recurrence period for the Local Spectral Response was 0.7233 g, and the spectral response value was 0.8473 g. The comparative analysis of reinforced concrete structures using the Local Spectral Response value revealed that some structural components experienced shear failure, particularly around openings such as stairwells. In contrast, the analysis using the Indonesian Spectral Design and SNI 1726:2019 indicated that the structural components could withstand the shear forces acting on the cross-sections.

Abstract

Public Utility Infrastructure (PSU) activities at the Manado City Settlement Office are one of the strategic programs in the development of residential area infrastructure. Monitoring of PSU projects faces various challenges, such as scattered work locations, time constraints, and the absence of an integrated and spatial-based information system. This research aims to develop a PSU construction project monitoring information system that utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and the Microsoft Power Apps platform to support real-time and structured visualization of project locations and work progress. The development method used is Rapid Application Development (RAD), which allows system development to be carried out quickly and iteratively based on user needs. Primary data is obtained through interviews and observations in the field, while secondary data comes from technical documents on project planning and implementation. The results of the study show that the information system developed is able to present location data, field documentation, and work progress reporting spatially, accurately, and easily accessible to the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) and the Field Director. The presence of this system is expected to increase the effectiveness of project monitoring and support fast and appropriate decision-making in the implementation of PSU activities in Manado City.

Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics of forest stand structure and growth in a post-logging area within the concession of PT Wijaya Sentosa. located in the karst-dominated highlands of Papua. Indonesia. The analysis focuses on the transition of tree diameter classes over a 71year monitoring period. highlighting a significant shift in population structure from small diameter to large diameter classes. The mortality rate remained low (<1%), while recruitment accounted for 32% of the total individuals, suggesting strong regenerative capacity and ecological resilience. Spatial distribution analysis using Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests indicated a shift from normal to non-normal distribution after 2018, likely due to stand structural changes and environmental pressures. These findings underscore the importance of dynamic, long-term monitoring in sustainable forest management. Adaptive management strategies such as extended cutting cycles. enrichment planting, and conservation of high-value species-are recommended to support continued forest recovery and biodiversity maintenance. The observed structural transition reinforces the notion that selectively logged tropical forests can maintain high ecological functionality when managed with precision and care.
