Abstract

This mentoring activity aims to provide understanding and skills to the academic community in using SIAKAD effectively through mentoring activities. The activity implementation method uses a participatory approach through several stages, namely needs analysis, program planning, mentoring implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as reflection and follow up. Mentoring activities are carried out through training, system demonstrations, direct practice, and technical consultations related to SIAKAD operations. The materials provided include student data management, filling out KRS, managing lecture schedules, inputting grades, and utilizing system features to support digital-based academic services. Monitoring and evaluation are carried out to measure the level of understanding and skills of participants in operating the system and to determine the effectiveness of the mentoring activities that have been implemented. The results of the activity indicate that mentoring in the use of SIAKAD is able to improve the understanding and skills of the academic community in utilizing the academic information system more optimally. The academic community demonstrated an increased ability to manage academic data digitally and understand the various features available in the system. This activity also contributes to encouraging the digitalization of academic services that are more effective, efficient, and transparent within the STIT Aqidah Usymuni Sumenep environment.

Abstract

Basic education in rural areas still faces significant challenges related to low student literacy and numeracy skills, as well as minimal parental participation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of community empowerment through the "Trisinergi" model (school, family, and community) in supporting quality basic education in Pikatan Village. Using a qualitative approach with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this study involves teachers, parents, and community leaders as subjects of empowerment. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that interventions in the form of strengthening teachers' pedagogical capacity and providing parenting education successfully increased parental involvement by 60% and the effectiveness of teaching strategies by 62.5%. The direct impact of this synergy was an increase in students' literacy skills by 44.4% and numeracy by 38.7%. This study concludes that the utilization of social capital and the integration of roles between the three educational pillars are key factors in creating an inclusive, independent, and sustainable educational ecosystem at the village level.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) play a crucial role in supporting the rural economy, yet many UMKM actors still face limitations in product marketing and promotion. This condition is also experienced by the broom and woven mat handicraft business owned by Mr. Suparman in Desa Persiapan Argo Mulyo, Slahung Sub-district, Ponorogo Regency. This study aims to describe the mentoring activities conducted to enhance the visibility of the partner's business. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through: (1) participatory observation of catalog creation and WhatsApp Business implementation; (2) interviews with 1 partner and 20 customers (80% positive response, 30 new contacts); (3) documentation of before-and-after photos and visit monitoring (+25%). The focus was on evaluating partner readiness for 4 distribution diversification strategies for UMKM broom-mat businesses in Slahung Village. The results show that creating promotional banners, compiling product descriptions, and using WhatsApp Business improved the business's professional appearance and facilitated consumer communication. This activity successfully strengthened partner business promotion through realized interventions, providing significant initial contributions to the economic independence of UMKM broom-mat businesses in Slahung Village.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the limited understanding of the Sari Rejo community regarding Islamic funeral rites, particularly the proper procedure for bathing the deceased. Field findings revealed that women were still directly involved in bathing male corpses, which contradicts Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh al-janāʾiz). To address this issue, the research employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, engaging the community actively in every stage, from problem identification, planning, implementation, to collective reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that the community demonstrated high enthusiasm in attending funeral management training; however, their basic knowledge of funeral jurisprudence remained limited. Through the implementation of PAR, the community not only gained theoretical knowledge but also hands-on practical experience, enabling them to correct previous mistakes in practice. Furthermore, this research highlights the significant role of religious leaders in providing continuous guidance and sustainable community mentoring. The implications of this study emphasize the necessity of ongoing education and local cadre development so that the community can independently manage funeral rites in accordance with Islamic teachings. These findings are consistent with previous studies on the gap between knowledge and practice in rural funeral management and the effectiveness of practical learning in Islamic education.

Abstract

The problem of plastic waste is also felt by the community of Lohgung Village, Brondong Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency, due to the limitations of the waste management system, which still largely relies on open burning and indiscriminate disposal. Through guidance, an innovative solution was introduced in the form of processing plastic waste into paving blocks based on community participation. This study employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, combining literature review, field observations, and informal interviews. The implementation results demonstrated high community enthusiasm, reflected in their active participation in waste management seminars and hands-on practice in making paving blocks using recycled plastic, sand, oil, and cement. The resulting products possess sufficient durability for use in both household needs and the village’s light infrastructure. In addition to providing ecological benefits in the form of waste reduction, this activity also has the potential to create new economic opportunities through collaboration with the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) as an effort to ensure the program’s sustainability. Thus, the innovation of processing plastic waste into paving blocks has proven capable of addressing environmental issues while simultaneously enhancing the empowerment of the village community.

Abstract

Sweet potato is a local food commodity with high carbohydrate content and considerable potential as an alternative staple food to rice. In Layeni Village, sweet potato, locally known as patatas, is widely cultivated and serves as an important source of household consumption and income. However, its utilization remains limited to direct consumption and fresh-market sales, resulting in low economic added value. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance community knowledge and skills in processing sweet potatoes into innovative value-added products to optimize local agricultural resources. The program employed observation, socialization, training, and hands-on practice methods involving local residents as participants. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of sweet potato product diversification and their ability to produce three processed products, namely sweet potato flour, sweet potato flour-based ice cream, and crackers made from sweet potato residue. These products demonstrate potential for development as local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Therefore, the program contributed to increasing the added value of sweet potato commodities while creating opportunities for community-based economic development through innovative products derived from local resources.

Abstract

The abundant natural resources found in rural areas are often left untapped as creative and productive media for empowering and educating the younger generation. This mentoring activity aimed to foster creativity, introduce eco-friendly art, and cultivate environmental awareness among fifth-grade elementary school students in Wonorejo Village through the ecoprint technique. Ecoprint is a method of transferring natural motifs from leaves and flowers onto fabric surfaces using the pounding technique, entirely free from synthetic chemicals, making it a safe, affordable, and sustainable educational medium. The activity was carried out from July 21-23, 2025, at SDN 1, SDN 2, and SDN 3 Wonorejo on consecutive days, involving all fifth-grade students from the three schools as participants. Implementation followed three structured stages: (1) conceptual introduction to ecoprint and environmental awareness; (2) technique demonstration by the community service team; and (3) independent and creative practice by students. The results showed that all participants successfully completed one uniquely patterned natural-motif tote bag, demonstrating active engagement at every stage from exploring natural materials around the school grounds to finalizing their works. The diverse motifs produced reflected each student's individual creative expression, while simultaneously affirming that local natural resources hold meaningful potential as a source of creativity for elementary school-aged children. This activity provides evidence that community mentoring grounded in local natural potential is an effective model of community service that can be adopted in other villages with similar characteristics.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to introduce the basic concepts of financial systems and wealth management in accordance with Islamic teachings through an innovative approach that integrates the story of Prophet Yusuf Alaihissalam as a learning medium tailored for children. The novelty of this activity lies in the presentation of Islamic financial literacy material, which is not only delivered theoretically but also packaged through the exemplary lessons found in the Quranic story, making it easier to understand, more relevant, and capable of fostering religious awareness at the same time. The activity was held at the Main Hall of Masjid Jami’ Al-Iqdam, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, as part of the Ramadhan Islamic Boarding School series of events. This program was designed based on the urgent need to instill Islamic economic values from an early age, so that the younger generation understands that managing finances is not merely a worldly matter, but also a form of worship and a trust that must be accounted for before Allah SWT. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, inspirational storytelling, and hands-on simulation exercises. The material covered the true nature of wealth, the importance of saving, future planning, as well as the principles of justice and honesty, all exemplified by Prophet Yusuf Alaihissalam. The results showed high enthusiasm among participants and a significant improvement in their understanding. This improvement was measured using pre-test and post-test instruments consisting of 12 questions based on 4 indicators, with an average increase in understanding reaching 68.3%
