Abstract

Strengthening student character is one of the important missions of higher education institutions in producing an intellectual generation that is integrity driven, moderate, and competitive. However, reality shows that the challenges of globalization and the overwhelming flow of information often weaken moral values and spiritual orientation among students. Therefore, a mentoring strategy is needed that is not only academic but also instills moderate Islamic values. This community service activity aims to implement Aswaja (Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah)-based mentoring to strengthen student character within the higher education environment. The method used is Participatory Action Research involving faculty members, students, and campus institutions through Aswaja studies, mentoring, religious practice, and reflective discussions on national values and religious moderation. The subjects of the community service are first year students at IAI Faqih Asy’ari. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and evaluations of the students. The results of the activity showed that Aswaja-based mentoring was able to foster religious, tolerant, disciplined, and socially responsible attitudes among students. In addition, there was an increase in students' awareness of integrating Aswaja values into their academic and social lives. This program can serve as a model for character building in higher education that is relevant to the needs of the times while maintaining the tradition of moderate Islam.

Abstract

Halal certification is becoming increasingly important for MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) products to ensure food safety and consumer trust, particularly in predominantly Muslim communities. However, many MSME owners still lack understanding of the procedures and requirements for obtaining halal certification. This community service program aims to provide comprehensive training on the halal certification process for MSME owners in Bangsal Hamlet, Dekatagung Village. The method used is a service-learning approach with the following steps: First, problem and needs identification; Second, material delivery and simulation; Third, collaboration and experiencebased reflection; Fourth, real-world application; and Fifth, evaluation and feedback. The results of this program have had a positive impact, including increased awareness among MSME owners about the importance of halal certification, a rise in the number of MSMEs applying for certification, and the strengthening of the image of local products as safe, healthy, and in line with Islamic values.

Abstract

Fish processing training into shredded fish is presented as a strategic solution to increase the economic value of fish through processed products that are durable, practical, and have a higher selling value. This training not only provides technical skills in making fish floss, but also covers aspects of sanitation, packaging, small business management, and product marketing, with the aim of empowering local community groups, especially housewives and youth. The method used in this study is the service learning method with the following steps: first, Identification of Problems and Needs, second, Provision of Materials and Simulation, third, Collaboration and Reflection Based on Experience, fourth, Application in Real Context, fifth, Evaluation and feedback. The real impact of the implementation of this training includes reducing dependence on unstable fresh fish sales, increasing family income, developing fishery-based MSMEs, empowering coastal women, and expanding employment opportunities in rural areas. The practical, participatory, and local potential-based approach makes this training an effective intervention in encouraging the economic independence of the Bangsal Hamlet community in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Limited teacher competence in classroom management can hinder children’s engagement and reduce the effectiveness of learning in early childhood education settings. This community service program aimed to strengthen the classroom management competence of teachers at TK Kusuma Mulia, Gedangan Hamlet, Klampisan Village, through participatory mentoring. The program employed a Participatory Action Research approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Six teachers participated in the program, while changes in the engagement of 21 children were observed in aggregate. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, competency assessments, and documentation. The data were analyzed using interactive qualitative analysis and descriptive quantitative techniques. The mentoring activities included conceptual reinforcement, the collaborative development of classroom rules and routines, demonstrations, guided teaching practice, peer observation, feedback, and reflection. The findings indicated that the teachers’ average classroom management competency score increased from 66 at baseline to 76 in the first cycle and 83 in the second cycle. Five of the six teachers, or 83.3%, achieved the good competency category. This improvement was accompanied by a decrease in the proportion of children who were unable to maintain attention from 28.6% to 9.5%, passive participation from 28.6% to 14.3%, and leaving activities without instruction from 28.6% to 9.5%. By the end of the program, all teachers had also completed written reflections. These findings indicate that participatory, contextual, and practice-based mentoring can strengthen teacher competence, improve children’s classroom engagement, and foster a reflective culture that supports continuous improvement in early childhood learning.

Abstract

Low teacher competence and the absence of family literacy programs cause children's literacy stimulation to be unsustainable, as it remains heavily centered on school-based learning. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to empower early childhood education (PAUD) teachers through an Activity-Based Play Family Literacy Mentoring Program. The method used was Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), which spans six stages: discovery, focus group discussions, problem and potential mapping, program development, mentoring implementation, and evaluation and reflection. The partners involved consisted of 20 PAUD teachers in Pasir Kuda District, Cianjur Regency. The results demonstrated an increase in teacher competence, indicated by a rise in teachers able to correctly answer the instrument from 10–15% to 50%, as well as an increase in the ability to practice family literacy from 10–15% to 75%. The mentoring also transformed teachers' practices from book-based activities into interactive, play-based storytelling that utilizes children's experiences, traditional games, and environmental potential. The novelty of this program lies in the teacher empowerment model that integrates family literacy, play activities, and local potential to strengthen the partnership between schools and families in building an early childhood literacy culture.

Abstract

Used cooking oil is a household waste that poses potential health risks and environmental pollution if not properly managed. This community service program aimed to enhance community understanding and promote the utilization of used cooking oil into value-added scented candles among members of the PKK women's organization in Pacing Village, Ngawi Regency. The program was conducted in July 2026 and involved 35 PKK members using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) cycle. Data were collected through pretests and posttests, observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants' understanding of used cooking oil management, with all participants successfully producing a total of 35 scented candles. Most participants also expressed interest in producing the candles independently, although they still required assistance in product packaging, quality standardization, and marketing. This program demonstrates that the training effectively supported community empowerment through circular economy-based waste management, with long-term sustainability depending on strengthened mentoring and improved market access.

Abstract

The success of the training can be explained in 3 aspects, namely: active participation of participants, understanding of the material and the ability to re-explain the material. The purpose of this community service is to improve the skills of program managers in terms of active participation of participants, understanding of the material and the ability to re-explain the material. The community service method used is a participatory training approach that begins with a pre-test, then the implementation of the training (material, discussion and practice) which ends with an evaluation (post-test). The training participants were 12 people who were responsible for the program at the UPTD Puskesmas (for neutrality, the name of the Puskesmas was deliberately hidden). Each program has consequences for the budget that must be accounted for, so financial accounting training is needed. The results of community service, that with financial accounting training can improve the competence of program managers at the Puskesmas
