Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a persistent, chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicle. Hair itself is not directly related, but hair products and habits can trigger the onset of acne vulgaris. Objective: This research aims to determine the relationship between hairstyles and shampooing frequency and the incidence rate of acne vulgaris. This study was a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at a private clinic in Semarang from June 10 to 17, 2025. The sample consisted of 56 respondents selected using a purposive sampling method according to the research criteria. Data collected included age, acne incidence, acne severity, hairstyle, and shampooing frequency. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS. There was no significant association between hairstyle and shampooing frequency on the incidence of acne vulgaris, with p = 0.056 and p = 0.641, respectively. Thus, there was no meaningful relationship between hairstyle and shampooing frequency and the incidence of acne vulgaris

Abstract

This study examines the strategic approach to improve SATU Dental's competitive position as the largest mid-market dental clinic operator in Indonesia. It aims to understand the effects of regional demographics, competition, and patient behavior on clinic performance and propose strategic initiatives to enhance competitiveness. The research combines quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative part analyzes revenue, patient volume, and growth across nine areas, while the qualitative part involves interviews with internal stakeholders. Data were analyzed using VRIO, PESTEL, Porter's Five Forces, and SWOT/TOWS frameworks. Results show regional performance differences. Bogor and East Jakarta have high growth due to middle-class demographics and moderate competition; North and Central Jakarta have strong revenues but slow growth from mature patient bases. Depok and Tangerang show low performance due to price sensitivity and limited accessibility. Qualitative analysis highlighted four themes: strategic alignment, financial management, operational contingencies, and clinical practice. VRIO identifies brand reputation and service standardization as lasting competitive advantages. PESTEL indicates a positive macro environment with middle-class growth and digitalization, tempered by exchange rate fluctuations and low-cost competition. The SWOT/TOWS analysis suggests three strategic directions: (1) Service Differentiation through Clinical Excellence and Digital Integration, (2) Human Capital and Capability Development, and (3) Operational Standardization and Performance Progress. In conclusion, SATU Dental's strategic competitiveness relies on balancing standardization with localization, targeting growth in high-potential areas, and innovating services in mature markets.

Abstract

This article examines how participatory catechesis can serve as a catalyst for transforming the spirituality of the faithful by integrating theological reflection with empirical insights from a rural Catholic community in Flores, Indonesia. Despite the regularity of parish activities, many communities continue to experience a devotional life marked by routine participation, limited personal reflection, and minimal integration of faith into daily life. Drawing on the framework of Shared Christian Praxis, experiential learning theory, and contemporary theological understandings of Christian spirituality, this study investigates how dialogical, reflective, and experience-based catechesis can deepen spiritual awareness and foster interior transformation. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in Stasi Waekekik of Paroki Mok, Flores, Indonesia. The findings reveal that participatory catechesis enhances engagement, encourages critical reflection on lived experiences, strengthens communal identity, and nurtures a spirituality rooted in active discipleship rather than passive observance. The study concludes that participatory catechesis is a vital pastoral approach capable of renewing the spiritual life of the faithful, particularly in rural communities where traditional didactic methods remain dominant. Practical recommendations are offered for catechists, parish leaders, and pastoral agents to cultivate catechetical environments that promote spiritual growth through participatory, contextual, and transformative learning.

Abstract

This article examines the gap between das sein—the law as it operates in practice—and das sollen—the law as it ought to function—in the protection of trademarks in Indonesia and Malaysia, with particular emphasis on the legal treatment of well-known marks. By comparing Indonesia’s first-to-file framework to Malaysia’s first-to-use approach, this study highlights how Indonesia’s emphasis on strict registration creates certainty at the normative level but often fails to deliver substantive fairness in practice. In Indonesia, the reliance on registration as the sole basis for rights has resulted in recurring disputes involving well-known marks, such as Pierre Cardin and Starbucks, where opportunistic filings expose the limitations of the existing safeguards. Although statutory provisions prohibit bad-faith registration, practical enforcement remains inconsistent, leaving owners of established and globally recognized brands vulnerable. Malaysia, meanwhile, offers a more balanced structure by allowing prior use to take precedence over mere formal registration. This approach strengthens the position of rightful owners—especially proprietors of well-known marks whose reputation often precedes administrative filings—and equips them with legal avenues such as opposition proceedings, revocation, and passing off. The comparison reveals that Indonesia’s current regime still falls short of harmonizing legal certainty with fairness, as the protection afforded to well-known marks remains constrained by procedural rigidity. Enhancing the role of good-faith principles and formally recognizing prior use would bridge the gap between das sein and das sollen and foster a more just and reliable trademark system for both domestic and international stakeholders.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of education financing management in supporting the continuity of educational activities in elementary schools. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of school funding sources, financial responsibility, transparency in financial management, and its impact on the quality of learning in the classroom. This study used a qualitative method with a single case study approach, focusing on the financial management of education in elementary schools in primary schools in the city of Makassar. Data were collected through documentation and interviews. The results showed that financially, primary schools in Makassar did not experience difficulties in obtaining education funds and their use was directed towards the interests of education. The principal worked with the treasurer to manage the funds, which contributed to the implementation of good school programmes. The accountability system in this school demonstrates clear responsibility, with transparency being achieved through the posting of fund utilisation reports on notice boards for public access. The effective use of funds has also been shown to improve the quality of classroom learning, as evidenced by the provision of necessary facilities and infrastructure. In conclusion, the management of education financing in primary schools in Makassar City has followed good procedures, demonstrating strong accountability and transparency, and supporting improvements in the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation, challenges, and strategies of educational administration at the primary school level in Makassar City. Basic education plays a crucial role in human resource development, and its effectiveness relies on quality school management. The study employs a qualitative approach, including interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis at three representative primary schools: a core public school, a peripheral public school, and a private school. The research covers eight areas of educational administration: curriculum, student affairs, educators and educational staff, facilities, finance, school-community relations, special services, and IT implementation. The findings reveal significant variation in educational administration practices across schools. Transformational leadership emerged as a key factor in successful administration, with such schools demonstrating innovation in curriculum and technology. Challenges include budget constraints affecting facility maintenance, excessive administrative workloads on teachers, and gaps in PTK’s ability to adapt to modern technology. Parental involvement in school activities remains largely ceremonial, failing to effectively support school programs. Effective strategies identified include fostering internal learning communities, forming partnerships with local businesses for facility procurement, and using simple digital platforms for communication and data management. The study concludes that improving basic education quality in Makassar requires strengthening school leadership, providing ongoing PTK training, ensuring proportional budget allocation, and implementing policies to enhance collaboration between schools, parents, and the community.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of the Sustainable Agricultural Land Protection Policy (PLP2B) in Indramayu Regency, West Java Province, which aims to support national food security. The study analyzes the challenges, strategies, and successes in maintaining agricultural land sustainability amidst the rapid conversion of land to non-agricultural uses. The findings indicate that, although significant regulatory efforts are in place, ongoing land conversion remains a major challenge. The Indramayu Regency Government continues to address this issue through policies involving various stakeholders, including the central government, local government, private sector, and communities. This research provides important insights into the effectiveness of these policies in achieving long-term food security goals.

Abstract

This study examines the organizational communication network within the Surabaya Education Foundation of August 17, 1945 (YPTA Surabaya), particularly focusing on its protocol unit, which manages ceremonial activities and institutional relations. Given the complexity of the structure and the intensity of official activities, a structured and efficient communication network is essential. Using a sociometrics-based communication audit approach, the research maps the communication network of the protocol and assesses its effectiveness. The research method involves a descriptive qualitative case study, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Sociometric analysis is employed to visualize relationships through sociograms, identifying key communication nodes, dominant actors, and those less involved in the flow of information. The findings reveal a centralized communication network, heavily reliant on a few key individuals as the main conduits for information. Informal communication patterns dominate coordination, leading to potential message distortion and coordination issues. The study concludes that the protocol’s effectiveness is significantly impacted by the uneven communication structure and recommends strengthening the network with formal communication mechanisms, clearer SOPs, and enhanced coordination within the protocol unit. This research contributes to the development of communication audit studies in educational organizations and offers insights into sociometrics-based network mapping.

Abstract

During the operation of Unit 1 at PLTU Sumsel 5, the feedwater pump seal water cooler experienced issues such as poor cooling performance, low heat exchange efficiency, and high-water consumption, leading to elevated equipment operating temperatures, increased energy consumption, and wastage of water resources. To enhance the operational economy and reliability of the equipment, an optimization upgrade was carried out on the existing seal water cooling system during the unit's annual maintenance. The retrofit plan involved replacing the originally used demineralized water-cooling source with chilled water from the HVAC system as the working medium, while retaining the demineralized water system as a backup source. After the upgrade, the system's cooling performance improved significantly, with a reduction of approximately 65% in cooling water consumption. This achievement demonstrates dual benefits of water conservation and reduced energy consumption, while also improving operational efficiency. The project provides replicable engineering experience for optimizing auxiliary systems in similar units.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in vocational education opens up transformative opportunities to develop 21st-century skills, especially critical thinking and problem-solving, which are key competencies for prospective professionals in the automotive sector. This study examines the effectiveness of using AI (Claude and Pollo AI) through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of automotive engineering students in the Vehicle Motion Mechanics course. The study, using a pre-experimental intact group comparison design, involved 37 third-semester students, consisting of an experimental group () and a control group (). The experimental group learned using AI-based PjBL, while the control group received conventional Discovery Learning. Data were collected through validated analytical rubrics and analyzed using an independent samples t-test and effect size. The results showed that the experimental group obtained a much higher critical thinking score (M = 82.45; SD = 6.23) compared to the control group (M = 71.33; SD = 7.89), . Similar improvements were also found in problem-solving skills (M = 84.12; SD = 5.87 vs. M = 69.78; SD = 8.45), , which indicates a strong practical impact. These findings confirm that the integration of AI through PjBL effectively strengthens critical thinking and problem-solving skills in automotive vocational education, while providing empirical evidence to drive technology-based engineering learning transformation.
