Abstract

This study aims to develop android-based interactive e-booklet to describe the characteristics of interactive e-booklet, analyze the validity of interactive e-booklet, and analyze user responses. This research method is development research with research design referring to 4-D design (define, design, development, and disseminate) which is modified to 3-D or only reaches the development stage, because the research was conducted during a pandemic. The results of this study are Interactive E-booklet which have five characteristics, namely (a) self-instructional, (b) self contained, (c) user friendly, (d) can provide critical thinking skills training for students during the learning process and evaluation, and (e) can help maximize students' learning motivation. The Interactive E-Booklet was declared very valid to be used, this was in accordance with the assessment of the experts with a validity achievement of 91.67% for the media aspect and 92,5% for the material aspect. The Interactive E-Booklet got a very good response from teachers and students with an average percentage of 92.5% for teacher responses and 86.77% for student responses. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Interactive E-booklet can help maximize critical thinking skills and students' learning motivation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of Assemblr Edu-based augmented reality in increasing student interest and learning outcomes. The research design used is nonequivalent control group design. The technique that will be used in this study is simple random sampling. The results showed that Assemblr Edu-based augmented reality media is very valid so it is worth using in learning. The learning interest of students measured through questionnaires has increased which is calculated using N-Gain of 0.31 which is included in the moderate category. The learning outcomes of the experimental class learners measured through the reasoned multiple-choice test also addressed an increase calculated using an N-Gain of 0.50 which belongs to the moderate category. The conclusion of this study is that augmented reality media based on Assemblr Edu is effective for increasing students' interest in learning and learning outcomes in human excretion system materials.

Abstract

Farmers’ consistency in adopting improved crop varieties is capable of guaranteeing sustainable development via high productivity and enhanced food security. The study assessed the effects of adoption of Improved Onion Varieties (IOVs) on farmers’ productivity in Kudan Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, Nigeria. Two-stage sampling procedure was used to select 111 onion farmers from four Wards in the LGA. Structured interview schedule was used to obtain required data. Descriptive statistics (frequency count and percentages), and ANOVA were used to analyse the data. Results shows that the average output before adoption was 3.29 while the mean after adoption was 4.55. ANOVA showed a significant difference between the adopters of improved onion varieties and non-adopters; F(1.109) = 154.91, P<0.001. The major constraint to adoption of IOVs was high cost of improved seeds (=4.81). This paper concludes that the adoption of IOVs has effect on the productivity of onion farmers. The National Agricultural Seed Council should ensure availability of improved seeds by fast-tracking seed multiplication and distribution to farmers so as to increase the sustainable adoption of IOVs.

Abstract

Based on the 2013 curriculum and Regulation of the Ministry of Education and Culture number 20 of 2016 concerning Achievement of Graduation Standards, graduates must not only be equipped with factual, conceptual, procedural knowledge but also metacognitive knowledge related to the field of knowledge, which is science. Metacognition can be measured by certain evaluation tools, so the instruments used in the learning assessment are oriented towards metacognition abilities. One of the characteristics of metacognitive assessment is that it involves students in their self-assessment process. Self-assessment is a habit of thinking about the relationship between metacognition and reflection. Metacognitive self-assessment is a metacognitive assessment instrument developed in this research, consisting 20 questions of metacognitive ability test and reflection journal as a self-assessment. This study aims to test the feasibility, analyze the characteristics of the product and determine the metacognitive profile of students. The results of data analysis showed that the Metacognitive Self Assessment product was very feasible with an average percentage obtained of 92.78% according to material experts, 86.43% according to evaluation experts, and the feasibility of readability data based on student responses of 83.59%. Metacognition profiles data based on their level are also supported by the results of reflection journals as a form of self-assessment that students have been able to carry out the process of reflection and evaluation of learning and what they are doing.

Abstract

Madukismo Sugar Factory used Ametryn and 2,4 d.amine as herbicides, and Urea, NPK, and ZA fertilizers, in its sugarcane cultivation process. This study performed life cycle assessment to see its environmental impact and proposed sustainable improvement efforts. The factory's sugarcane cultivation was found to account for 1041.085927 kg 1,4-DCB- Eq of Freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity-FAETP 100a, 6.702603784 kg 1,4-DCB-Eq of Terrestrial ecotoxicity-TAETP 100a, 689.8995889 m2a of Land use– competition, and 171.1111422 kg antimony-Eq of Depleted abiotic resources. The improvement could be made by applying biological pest controls, such as trichogamma chilonis, Cotesia flavipes, Sturmiopsis inferens, Tetrastichus scoenobii and elasmus zehteneri. The NPK, ZA, and urea fertilizers should also be used according to the standard operating procedure set by the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly regarding its amount and duration (at least twice a year). Manure could also be used to decrease dependency on synthetic fertilizers. Filter cake should also be used as organic fertilizer in sugarcane cultivation.

Abstract

Synthetic plastic made from the synthetic polymer polypropylene (PP) is generally used as food packaging, which over time causes environmental problems, so innovation in food packaging in the form of edible bowls is needed. Edible bowls are made from papaya skin pectin, wheat flour, gelatin flour, vegetable oil and water which are baked using oven technology. Based on tests, edible bowls have a water absorption capacity of 3% to 23%, can last for 18 minutes at a high temperature of 90℃ and 31 minutes at a temperature of -10℃, and can decompose within 2 to 3 months. This edible bowl made from papaya skin is an alternative substitute for plastic packaging, thus tackling the problem of plastic waste in Indonesia.

Abstract

Along with the increase in the need and use of water, a sustainable water management and distribution system must be implemented. A sound water distribution system requires a proper management and distribution system. Gunungpati District is one of the areas in Semarang City that still utilizes springs as a source of clean water to meet daily needs. One of the springs utilized to meet the clean water needs of residents is Lerak Spring, located in Muntal Village RT 1 RW 6, Pakintelan Village. This study aimed to determine the management of the spring and its sustainability aspects. Data collection methods used in this study consisted of primary data using qualitative methods in the form of interviews, observations, and laboratory tests related to water quality. The results showed that the management of Lerak Spring needs to have a relatively low level of sustainability in terms of social, economic, environmental, cultural, and technical aspects.
