Abstract

Existing studies have explored philanthropy as fund management practices for economic empowerment of the poor, or building infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and Islamic boarding schools. This paper portrays another aspect, the role and strategy of Islamic philanthropy organisations in dakwah movement among newly-converted (muallaf) in Yogyakarta. Dakwah activities are normally conducted by dai in mosques through regular sermons. However, that method was considered as less effective as the task of dai is seen to be accomplished when the muallaf recite shahadat. The data here is drawn from a fieldwork at Mualaf Center Yogyakarta (MCY), and its collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa and Rumah Zakat. This research aimed to explore new forms of action by philanthropic organisations in their use of public fund. Through a qualitative approach and a case study method at MCY, this research found that MCY was in partnership with Dompet Dhuafa dan Rumah Zakat in their work. MCY was in charge in supporting spiritual and psychological aspect of muallaf, while Dompet Dhuafa and Rumah Zakat were in charge in empowering the economic and welfare of muallaf. Before receiving such support, the muallaf faced difficulties in conducting Islamic teachings such as praying, fasting, and ablution. After receiving the support, they found easier in fulfilling those.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to show the political impression management of the president and vice president candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno in social media, in the presidential election 2019. Instagram is the focus of social media in the research. Specifically, the research would like to know the created impression in each Instagram account of the political figure, @Prabowo and @Sandiuno on August 10, 2018 to September 23, 2018. The method used in the research was content analysis method, which followed Simunjak Typology (2017) to know the candidate skills and virtues, disclosing private information, attacking political opponents, speaking in colloquial language, emphasizing particular issues. One of the interesting investigation results showed both Prabowo and Sandiaga used Instagram as a political tool to create their political impression as the religious candidates. Another result was Prabowo did not use his own social media account to offend his political rival, while Sandiaga offended incumbent candidates about the economic policy. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap manajemen citra politik pasangan capres-cawapres, Prabowo Subianto dan Sandiaga Uno di media sosial, dalam Pilpres 2019. Media sosial yang menjadi fokus kajian adalah Instagram. Lebih spesifik, penelitian ini ingin mengetahui citra yang dibangun di akun Instagram masing-masing tokoh politik, @Prabowo dan @Sandiuno dalam rentang 10 Agustus 2018 hingga 23 September 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi, yang mengikuti tipologi Simunjak (2017) untuk mengetahui kemampuan kandidat (candidate skills and virtues), kehidupan pribadi kandidat (disclosing private information), menyerang lawan politik (attacking political opponents), bicara bahasa sehari-hari (speak in colloquial language), dan penekanan isu tertentu (emphasizing particular issues). Salah satu temuan menarik dari penelitian inimenunjukkan baik Prabowo dan Sandiaga menggunakan Instagram sebagai alat politik untuk membangun citra politik mereka sebagaikandidat pemimpin yang religius. Temuan menarik lainnya yang muncul dalam penelitian ini adalah Prabowo tidak menggunakan akun media sosialnya untuk menyerang rival politiknya, sementara Sandiaga menyerang kandidat petahana tentang kebijakan ekonominya.

Abstract

In the past few years, South Korean pop culture has become a global phenomenon. The sudden popularity of the culture commonly known as as Korean Wave or Hallyu. This trend includes Korean drama, dance, music, films, animation, games, and fans club for Korean pop celebrity. In the past, those who become fans is only from a spesific age, but now it is more varied. One of most popular of the Korean singer groups is BangTan Boys. Abbreviated as BTS, the fans of BangTan Boys is proudly call themselves, “ARMY”. Using the Henry Jenkins’s Participatory culture theory along with qualitative method, this research tries to analyze that there are audiens who do not only consuming pop culture, but also producing new cultural artefacts from that. The data were collected by focus group discussion, in-depth interview and data analysis. It shows that some of the fans are making “fanfiction” as the reproductions of new artefacts, despite actively participating in BTS fandom by doing activities as include in the four types of Jenkin’s participatory cultures.

Abstract

Interpersonal Communication can occur in place, namely in boarding schools. If Interpersonal Communication doesn’t effectively do, there will be awkwardness in Communication. The phenomenon that occurs in santri in pesantren is closed Communication with seniors. Because it is awkward that makes interpersonal Communication of students becomes inappropriate because there is a sense that is embedded in students to senior students, as well as senior students of prestige to greet and give greetings to junior students. This research approach is a phenomenological study, while this type of research is qualitative. While interviews, observations and documentation are methods of collecting data. They consisted of Al-Amien Prenduan students and An-Nurriyah Surabaya students. Because this boarding schools has a strict discipline and found the difference. While data reduction, synthesis, compiling working hypotheses are as data analysis. Triangulation and extension of participation as checking the validity of the data. The results of this study are interpersonal Communication of junior and senior santri, the social behavior of junior and senior santri, social interaction of junior santri and senior santri, the doctrine of senior santri to junior santri, fanatic of junior santri and senior santri, bullying of junior santri and senior santri. Komunikasi interpersonal dapat terjadi di manapun termasuk pondok pesantren. Jika Komunikasi Interpersonal tidak dilakukan secara efektif maka akan terjadi kecanggungan dalam berkomunikasi, umumnya fenomena komunikasi yang terjadi antar santri di pesantren adalah komunikasi tertutup. Hal ini dikarenakan rasa canggung antara santri senior dan santri junior dalam berinteraksi, santri senior gengsi untuk menyapa dan memberikan sapaan kepada santri junior. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah studi fenomenologi dengan menggunkan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan reduksi data dan sintesisasi digunakan sebagai analisis data. Selain itu menggunakan triangulasi dan perpanjangan keikutsertaan untuk pengecekan keabsahan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menggambarkan komunikasi interpersonal santri junior dan santri senior, perilaku sosial santri junior dan santri senior, intraksi sosial santri junior dan santri senior, doktrin santri senior kepada santri junior, fanatik santri junior dan santri senior, serta bullying santri junior dan santri senior.

Abstract

This research is motivated by Indonesia as a predominantly Muslim country, giving rise to a variety of da'wah organizations such as the Majlis Tafsir Al- Qur'an (MTA). The presence of this community organization gave rise to the model of brotherhood formation through the stages of interpersonal communication. This research is a descriptive qualitative research and uses the population of all members of the Nusukan fostered community from MTA. The sampling used is the snowball sampling model. Data collection uses in-depth interviews, documentation and observation. Data validity uses triangulation of data sources. The results of this study are the stages of forming ukhuwah. First, Ta'aruf, which occurs as the initial stage of effective interpersonal communication, involves the stages of contact and orientation. Second, Tafahum as a means of understanding deeper between members through interpersonal communication involves the stages of involvement. Third, ta'awun as interpersonal communication in fostering mutual care which includes the stages of involvement but tends towards the stages of familiarity. Fourth, takaful in interpersonal communication so as to form a sense of brotherhood covering the stages of intimacy and improvement. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan Indonesia sebagai negara yang mayoritas Islam, sehingga memunculkan berbagai macam organisasi dakwah seperti MTA. Kehadiran Organisasi masyarakat ini memunculkan model pembentukan persaudaraan melalui tahapan-tahapan komunikasi interpersonal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan menggunakan Populasi seluruh anggota komunitas Binaan Nusukan dari MTA. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah model snowball sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi dan observasi. Validitas data menggunakan triangulasi sumber data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukannya tahapan-tahapan pembentukan ukhuwah. Pertama, ta’aruf yang terjadi sebagai tahap awal komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif itu meliputi tahapan kontak dan orientasi. Kedua, tafahum sebagai sarana dalam memahami lebih dalam antaranggota melalui komunikasi interpersonal meliputi tahapan keterlibatan. Ketiga, ta’awun sebagai komunikasi interpersonal dalam menumbuhkan rasa saling peduli yang meliputi tahapan keterlibatan tetapi cenderung menuju tahapan keakraban. Keempat, takaful dalam komunikasi interpersonal sehingga membentuk rasa persaudaraan meliputi tahapan keakraban dan perbaikan.

Abstract

This research tries to reveal how Muslim teenagers' perceptions and interpretations of hoax news are often circulating in social media. The phenomenon of hoax spreads or false information gets a big moment when social media becomes very common on the internet. People become agents of hoax distribution because they believe in hoax content. Young teenagers are considered the most vulnerable affected by false or hoax news because the characteristics tend to be explorative, always curious, easily influenced, and tend to receive just the contents of the media. It may pose a latent danger and potentially divisive perceptions of society. This research uses Stimulus, Organism, and Response (SOR) theory through qualitative approaches. Data was collected through the FGD method, observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation by using purposive sampling. Meanwhile, to ensure the validity of the data, it is done with the triangulation of data and sources. The results revealed a relationship between understandings of the hoax with the rejection of hoax. It suggests that hoaxes as false news are designed to pose a threat to social life. The study concluded that people, especially Muslim youth, reexamine the truth of the information with "Tabayyun. It also increases digital literacy to be smart and critical in the media. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengungkap bagaimana persepsi dan interpretasi remaja muslim mengenai berita hoaks yang kerap beredar di media sosial Fenomena penyebaran hoaks atau berita bohong mendapat momen besar ketika media sosial menjadi sangat umum berkembang di zaman internet. Masyarakat menjadi agen penyebaran Hoaks karena percaya dengan konten hoaks. Kalangan remaja remaja dinilai paling rentan terpengaruh berita bohong atau hoaks karena karakteristiknya cenderung eksploratif, selalu ingin tahu, mudah terpengaruh dan cenderung menerima begitu saja isi media. Ini dapat menimbulkan bahaya laten dan beragam persepsi yang berpotensi memecah belah masyarakat. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan teori Stimulus, Organisme dan Respon (SOR) melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan melalui, metode FGD, Observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sementara itu, untuk menjamin validitas data, dilakukan dengan triangulasi data dan sumber. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan terdapat hubungan antara pemahaman terhadap hoaks dengan penolakan terhadap hoaks. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hoaks sebagai berita bohong yang terdesain menjadi ancaman bagi kehidupan sosial. Penelitian menyimpulkan agar masyarakat khususnya remaja muslim memeriksa kembali kebenaran sebuah berita dengan “Tabayyun. Selain itu juga meningkatkan literasi digital agar dapat pintar dan kritis dalam bermedia.

Abstract

This article is the result of research, one of which is the lack of discourse studies, especially the representation of the news object studies in electronic newspapers. News about woman employees in Saudi Arabia was chosen because there have been many cases that occurred in Saudi Arabia. Several cases such as starting from illegal migrant workers, trafficking, prostitution, suicide, and various legal circumstances that befall Indonesian workers, how the news of women employee is written on Sabq.org newspaper, one of the leading online publications in Saudi Arabia. All cannot be separated from the media representation or depiction of an object. Representatives of woman employees will be dissected based on contextual illustration-writer-text-context reader theory by Sara Mills. The qualitative method of Critical Discourse Analysis was chosen as a means for collecting data. The technique of analyzing data used in this study is using the framework of Sara Mills's analysis related to the position of subject and object of the news. The research findings showed that Sabq.org portrays woman employees poorly, marginalizes minority groups by not showing woman employees in the news, dominant groups represent their presence, establishing ideology of dominant groups (employee) and tends to be gender-biased. Artikel ini dilatarbelakangi minimnya kajian wacana, khususnya representasi pada objek kajian berita pada surat kabar elektronik (SKE). Berita tentang Tenaga Kerja Wanita (TKW) di Arab Saudi menjadi pilihan karena alasan banyaknya kasus yang terjadi pada TKW di Arab Saudi, mulai dari TKI ilegal, kasus trafficking, prostitusi TKW, bunuh diri dan beragam kasus hukum yang menimpa buruh migran wanita Indonesia. Bagaimana wacana TKW digambarkan dalam berita Sabq. Org, salah satu koran online terkemuka di Arab Saudi tidak lepas dari representasi atau penggambaran media atas suatu objek. Representasi TKW akan dibedah dengan teori ilustrasi konteks penulis- teks-konteks pembaca dari Sara Mills. Metode kualitatif Analisis Wacana Kritis (critical discourse analysis) dipilih sebagai alat mencari data. Teknik analisis penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka analisis Sara Mills terkait posisi subjek-objek berita. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Sabq.Org menggambarkan TKW dengan buruk, memarjinalkan kelompok minoritas (TKW) dengan tidak menampilkan TKW dalam pemberitaan, kehadirannya diwakili oleh kelompok dominan, memapankan ideologi kelompok dominan (majikan) dan cenderung bias gender.

Abstract

This paper examines the implementation of counter-radicalization extension by Islamic Extension Workers (IEW) and the policies issued in the effort at the Ministry of Religion Affairs (MoRA) in Sukoharjo, Central Java. The descriptive method was used by using the qualitative approach. The results show that the MoRA had established a program for disseminating Islamic moderation in the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan as a counter-radicalization, which the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance programmed to optimize the role of IEW. However, until the end of the Strategic Plan, the program was unclear to the level of extension workers. Although there was no policy for operational guidance on it, MoRa of Sukoharjo made a policy to enact the decision of the General Director of Islamic Guidance number 297/2017 as a reference for radicalism extension. In the implementation of the face-to-face approach of extension (inter persona communication), it has not run optimally by IEW due to their competency and capacity factors. While in the mediated communication approach, IEW of Sukoharjo has succeeded in developing the extension activities through counter radicalism narratives, mosque coaching, and forming the communication forum for Mosque administrators as counter radicalism efforts. Tulisan ini mengkaji tentang implementasi penyuluhan kontra radikalisasi oleh Penyuluh Agama Islam (PAI) dan kebijakan-kebijakan yang telah dikeluarkan dalam upaya tersebut di Kementerian Agama (Kemenag) Sukoharjo, Jawa Tengah. Metode deskriptif digunakan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kemenag telah menetapkan program diseminasi moderasi Islam dalam Renstra 2015-2020 sebagai kontra radikalisasi, yang oleh Ditjen Bimas Islam diprogramkan optimalisasi peran penyuluh agama Islam, namun sampai akhir Renstra upaya tersebut belum terealisasi dengan jelas sampai ke tingkat penyuluh. Meskipun belum ada kebijakan berupa pedoman penyuluhan moderasi Islam, Kemenag Sukoharjo mengambil kebijakan untuk memberlakukan keputusan Dirjen Bimas Islam No. 297/2017 sebagai acuan penyuluhan radikalisme, namun dalam implementasi penyuluhan tatap muka (inter persona communication) belum dijalankan secara maksimal oleh PAI karena faktor kompetensi dan kapasitas. Sementara dalam penyuluhan dengan pendekatan mediated communication, PAI Sukoharjo telah berhasil mengembangkan kegiatan penyuluhan melalui kontra narasi radikalisme, pembinaan masjid dan membentuk forum silaturahmi antar pengurus masjid sebagai upaya kontra radikalisme.

Abstract

The "one data" policy driven by the government through the Ministry of Health is believed to be able to innovate and give a new face to health services. Of course, the improvement of health services starts from the smallest and lowest layers, namely Polindes. Starting from this policy and the finding of relatively low public health service problems, the authors see a health service in Polindes, which contributes positively to improving the quality of public health services. The health service is the author's view of the communication perspective through the study of Communication in the Synergy of Public Health Services Polindes (Village Maternity Post) in Tarumajaya Village, Kertasari District, Bandung Regency. The method used in this research is a case study. The results of the study revealed that public health services in Polindes are inseparable from the communication process that exists in the village. The verbal communication process includes positive synergy between the communicator and the communicant. In this case, the communicators are village midwives, village officials, namely the village head and his staff, the sub-district health center, and the active role of the village cadres involved. In contrast, the communicant that was targeted was the community in the village of Tarumajaya. This positive synergy results in a marked increase in public services, namely by providing new facilities in the village, RTK (Birth Waiting Home). Kebijakan “one data” yang dimotori oleh pemerintah melalui Kementerian kesehatan diyakini mampu membuat inovasi dan memberikan wajah baru terhadap layanan kesehatan. Tentunya, perbaikan layanan kesehatan tersebut dimulai dari lapisan terkecil dan terbawah yakni Polindes. Berawal dari kebijakan tersebut dan masih ditemukannya masalah pelayanan kesehatan publik yang relatif rendah, penulis melihat sebuah layanan kesehatan di Polindes, yang memberikan kontribusi positif dalam peningkatan kualitas layanan kesehatan masyarakat. Pelayanan kesahatan tersebut penulis lihat dari perpektif komunikasi melaui penelitian Komunikasi dalam Sinergi Pelayanan Kesehatan Publik Polindes (Pos Bersalin Desa) di Desa Tarumajaya, Kecamatan Kertasari, Kabupaten Bandung ini dilakukan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pelayanan kesehatan publik di Polindes, tidak terlepas dari adanya proses komunikasi yang terjalin di desa tersebut. Proses komunikasi verbal tersebut meliputi sinergitas positif antara pihak komunikator dan komunikan. Dalam hal ini, komunikator tersebut adalah Bidan Desa, Aparat Desa yakni Kepala Desa beserta staffnya, Puskesmas tingkat kecamatan, serta peran aktif dari para kader desa yang terlibat. Sedangkan komunikan yang menjadi target adalah masyarakat di desa Tarumajaya. Sinergitas positif tersebut menghasilkan peningkatan pelayanan publik yang nyata, yaitu dengan adanya penyediaan fasilitas baru di desa, RTK (Rumah Tunggu Kelahiran).

In the current era of digital information and communication technology, the Pesantren Tebuireng utilizes social media as a means of spreading da'wah. The purpose of this research is to find out the use of digital media for Pesantren Tebuireng. This research was conducted at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School with a qualitative research method interviewing several managers of the Tebuireng Islamic social media account, besides analyzing the content using a text analysis method to find out the messages and meanings conveyed in the preaching. The use of digital media for Pesantren Tebuireng gives several things to the community, namely: 1) spreading reliable information and making people aware of the importance of tabayyun 2) spreading moderate and trusted propaganda 3) inviting people to use digital media to preach. Di era teknologi informasi dan komunikasi digital saat ini, Pesantren Tebuireng memanfaatkan media sosial sebagai sarana menyebarkan dakwah. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan media digital bagi Pesantren Tebuireng. Selain itu, penelitian ini memberikan referensi bagi pesantren atau lembaga pendidikan yang lain untuk memanfaatkan teknologi digital dengan sebaik-baiknya dan mulai menyuarakan dakwah Islam secara lebih luas dan menyebar manfaatnya dengan memakai sudut pandang positif terhadap kehadiran teknologi digital. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif yang mewawancarai beberapa pengelola akun media sosial Pesantren Tebuireng, selain itu juga menganalisa konten menggunakan metode analisis teks mengetahui pesan-pesan dan makna yang disampaikan dalam dakwah tersebut. Adapun pemanfaatan media digital bagi Pesantren Tebuireng memberikan beberapa hal terhadap masyarakat, yaitu: 1) menyebarkan informasi terpercaya dan menyadarkan masyarakat tentang pentingnya tabayyun 2) menyebarkan dakwah yang moderat dan terpercaya 3) mengajak masyarakat memanfaatkan media digital untuk berdakwah.
