Abstract

In his monumental work, Islamic Methodology in History, Fazlur Rahman proposed two causes of failure of using ijtihâd as a method in interpreting Islamic law among classical Islamic law scholars. Firstly, there is an unharmonious relationship between “sunnah-ijma’-ijtihâd; secondly, there is a burden of majority doctrine theology  towards the law. Both causalities are related each other. Fazlur Rahman tried to show the unharmonious between “sunnah-ijma’-ijtihâd” as stated in usûl fiqh. In those unharmonious relationship, ijtihâd is defeated by ijma’. In fact, ijtihâd is regarded as a means to direct and to form ijma’. Due to the ineffective position of ijtihâd, it is not possible to form new ijma’.Kata Kunci: Fazlur Rahman, metode ijtihad, pembaruan hukum Islam, sunah, ijmak

Abstract

The Qur’an, the holy scripture of the Muslims, never changes since its  revelation. However, qur’anic exegesis, as the results of brilliant thoughts of the interpreter can only differ from one another. The difference of qur’anic exegesis may be brought about by methods of interpreting the qur’anic verses. Generally speaking, there are method of interpreting the qur’anic verses; textual interpretation and contextual interpretation. These two methods of interpretation have been employed from the time of the Prophet Muhammad to the present time.Kata Kunci: Alquran, pemahaman tekstual, pemahaman kontekstual

Abstract

This research studies Islamic education curriculum reconstruction in High Public Education Institution after the fall of the New Orde. The main focus of this research is to investigate the form of the reconstruction and its relevance to the stakeholders’ needs. The issue was studied by using qualitative analysis through library research. The result shows that the paradigm of Islamic education curriculum in 2002 was different from that in the New Orde era (prior to 2000. This affects the changing of teaching material radically where the change becomes more relevant to the stakeholders’ needs than the previous curriculum.Kata Kunci:    rekonstruksi kurikulum, Pendidikan Agama Islam, Orde Baru, Orde Reformasi

Abstract

This research is library one. The approach used is theolo-normative analysis and socio-pedagogical one. The results indicate that the concept of  lifelong education  in Islam is a continual process beginning from womb to grave. The process covers the forms of formal, non formal and informal education, that take place at schools, family, and community. Islam even views that education to-be-born baby should be initiated prior to the marriage of parents. Therefore, Islam recommends that one marry a pious woman.Kata Kunci: lifelong education, pendidikan Islam, teologis-normatif, sosiologis-paedagogis

Abstract

One of the well-known Islamic philosophers in Islamic and western countries is Ibnu Sina. In  Western countries, he is known as Avicenna. Ibnu sina (370H/980M) is not only a great philosopher but  also a great scientist whose researches have been quoted many other scientists in the field of medicine until this modern era. He had contributed to development of philosophy and science since middle age in order to establish perfect philosophy system. Abstract

This article discusses jihâd and terrorism based on contemporary fiqh perspective. Jihâd has an important meaning in Islamic teaching as a part of religious obligation. However, nowadays the word jihâd has been associated with the term terrorism by Western World. In fact, terrorism is completely different from Islamic spirit (jihâd). Therefore, this article tries to reveal the differences between jihâd and terrorism. This issue is discussed by employing contemporary fiqh perspective approach. The result shows that jihâd and terrorism are totally different from each other. Jihâd has the criteria which are stated in Islamic shar’iah, while terrorism is a form of movement against the Islamic teaching.Kata Kunci: jihad, terorisme, syariah, sadd  al-tharâ’i

Abstract

This paper deals with  political relations between the state and Moslem communities in Indonesia at the first emergence until being political power from the seventh century to the beginning of the nineteenth century. This issue will be discussed using socio-historical analysis. Based on the data analysis, the Muslim community played a significant role in a parliamentary democracy. Thus, they were marginalized in a guided democracy, and become an object, rather than a subject, both in the New Order and the Reform era, in terms of a variety of national issues. In other words, Muslim community become a target of depolitization and such issues as the sole principle, moral education of Pancasila, veiling, right-wing extremists, and terrorism, despite of the fact that the 1945 Constitution gives to all Indonesian people a freedom to embrace their religion.Kata Kunci: politik Islam, depolitisai,   umat Islam Indonesia

Abstract

Islam is a religion of peace. Therefore, Islam accommodates differences in religions, ethnics, languages, and cultures. Islam also recommends that peace culture be established at any time and place. Abstract

This paper deals with the concept of Islamic education which has been implemented in moral education at the Islamic high school of Alkhaeraat Palu. It analyzes its concept, methods, as well as obstacles which have been confronted in this process of teaching Islamic morality. This study employs qualitative approach using case study as a method of inquiry. Abstract

The science of ma’ânî is a set of rules and of principles  employed to know how to make an Arabic sentence structure agreeing with  language situation and condition. One of the objects of the science of ma’ânî is  khabar. Khabar is  a sentence that  may be either true or false, depending on the reality. If the reality agrees with khabar, then  it is called true khabar, but if not, it is called false khabar. There are two purposes of delivering khabar, namely fâ’idat al-khabar and lâzim al-fâ’idah. Sometimes the purposes of khabar deviate from that two original purposes to become istirhâm, izhâr al-da’f, izhâr al-tahassur, etc.Kata Kunci: al-balâghah al-‘arabiyyah, ‘ilm al-ma’ânî, al-khabar
