Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of self-control as a mediator variable in the relationship between Moral Disengagement and driver compliance with traffic rules. Moral disengagement refers to cognitive mechanisms that allow individuals to justify unethical behavior which can have an impact on low levels of compliance with applicable rules. Self-control in individuals can regulate emotions, thoughts and behavior and can be assumed to be able to reduce the negative influence of moral disengagement on compliance. Data was collected through distributing goggle forms using a Likert scale. The subjects of this research consisted of 300 respondents using snowball sampling. This study uses mediation path analysis to test the hypothesis and the results prove that self-control media significantly tests the relationship between moral disengagement and compliance. Thus, someone who has an increasing level of moral disengagement shows a lower level of compliance with rules, but this effect weakens when the individual has high self-control. These findings indicate that increasing self-control abilities can be an effective strategy to reduce the negative impact of moral disengagement on compliance with traffic regulations. This study contributes to the literature related to traffic psychology and provides practical implications for improving driving safety

Abstract

This research study aims to determine the relationship between mental toughness and self-confidence with competitive anxiety in karate athletes. The subjects in this study were 227 karate athletes from NTT who would take part in the competitive. Purposive sampling was used as a sampling technique and this study used Spearman-Brown analysis. Data collection in this study was obtained from the results of distributing scales via google form and directly between subjects using a Likert scale. The results of the study on the second hypothesis show that there is a significant negative relationship between mental toughness and competitive anxiety. Assuming that the higher the mental toughness, the lower the competitive anxiety in karate athletes. The third hypothesis also shows that there is a significant negative relationship between self-confidence and competitive anxiety. Assuming that the higher the self-confidence, the lower the competitive anxiety in karate athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness training in reducing nomophobia in Generation Z Remote Workers, as well as evaluating differences in nomophobia based on the Big Five Personality Traits personality dimensions. The research sample consisted of 10 employees of Company X engaged in the creative media industry aged 20-27 years. After screening using the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) scale and the BFI-2 scale, 10 people were determined who met the criteria for research subjects and were willing to take part in the intervention program. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The research instruments included the NMP-Q and BFI-2 scales, while data analysis used the Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis tests. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed an Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.007 (<0.05), which indicates a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results after the mindfulness training intervention, this means that mindfulness training effectively reduces nomophobia in Generation Z remote workers. Furthermore, the Kruskal-Wallis test showed an Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.578 (> 0.05), which means that there is no significant difference in reducing nomophobia based on the personality types of Openness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism.

Abstract

The ability to overcome various obstacles in the field of education is known as academic resilience. High academic resilience is able to withstand academic pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and survive in difficult situations. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between academic resilience of first-year students in Surabaya with emotional regulation and academic self-efficacy. This study involved 250 students from outside Surabaya, and samples were taken using the Accidental Sampling technique. The research tools used were the academic self-efficacy scale developed by the researcher, the academic resilience scale, and the emotional regulation scale using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). The findings of the analysis showed that academic resilience was significantly influenced by emotional regulation, indicating that students who showed strong emotional management were more resilient. In addition, it has been shown that academic resilience is significantly influenced by academic self-efficacy, meaning that students who have strong academic self-efficacy are more likely to overcome obstacles

Abstract

Individual behavior that focuses on smartphones during face-to-face interactions that result in ignoring others is known as phubbing. Students who have a high level of phubbing will use smartphones more often when interacting. This study aims to determine the relationship between avoidant attachment style and self-regulation with phubbing in adolescents in Ketapang City. This study was conducted on 265 respondents who attended SMAN 02 Ketapang using a simple random sampling technique. The research instruments included a phubbing scale referring to the theory of Karadag et al. (2015), an avoidant attachment style scale referring to the theory of Hazan & Shaver (1987), and a self-regulation scale referring to the theory of Novak & Clayton (2001). The results of the analysis showed that avoidant attachment style and self-regulation had a significant influence on phubbing. Avoidant attachment style had a significant positive influence while self-regulation had a significant negative influence.

Abstract

Early adulthood is vulnerable to depression. Self-compassion and loneliness are factors associated with a tendency toward depression, including in early adulthood. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-compassion, loneliness, and depression in early adulthood. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach. Data were obtained from 387 early adult participants using researcher-developed scales measuring depressive tendencies, self-compassion, and loneliness. Data analysis was conducted using the non-parametric Spearman analysis technique. The results indicate that self-compassion has a significant negative correlation with depression, while loneliness has a significant positive correlation with the tendency toward depression in early adulthood.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the relationship between resilience and social support on social anxiety in prisoners before release. Social anxiety often arises from concerns about community stigma, future uncertainty, and reintegration challenges. This study was conducted on 140 inmates at the Pontianak State Detention Centre within six months of release. The study used a quantitative approach with a Likert scale-based questionnaire as an instrument to measure resilience, social support, and social anxiety. The instruments used have been tested for validity and reliability with adequate results. Data were analysed using multiple linear regression through SPSS version 23 software to determine the relationship between variables. The results showed that resilience and social support contributed 65.1% to reducing social anxiety. Partially, resilience had a significant negative relationship with social anxiety (B = -0.491, p < 0.05), as did social support (B = -0.544, p < 0.05). These findings suggest that strengthening resilience and providing social support can be effective strategies to reduce social anxiety in prisoners and support the process of reintegration into society. The government and relevant institutions need to adopt policies that support providing social services for prisoners before release. This support includes family counselling, emotional education, and strengthening social adaptation skills. This measure helps individuals and reduces the risk of reoffending through strengthening social relationships and resilience.

Abstract

The phenomenon of impulse buying is increasingly prevalent among Generation Z, especially those who actively use technology and social media. This generation is vulnerable to emotional and social influences when making shopping decisions. This study aims to analyse the relationship between positive emotions and fear of missing out (FoMO) with impulsive buying tendencies in 251 Generation Z respondents. The results showed that positive emotions positively correlate with impulsive buying tendencies (r = 0.42, p < 0.05), indicating that individuals with high positive emotions are more likely to make impulsive purchases. In addition, FoMO also had a significant positive correlation with impulsive buying tendency (r = 0.48, p < 0.05), indicating that fear of missing out on trends may trigger spontaneous purchases. Regression analysis showed that these two variables together explained 36% of the variance in impulsive behaviour (R² = 0.36). These findings highlight the need for intervention strategies, such as financial literacy education, to help Generation Z manage their consumptive behaviour more wisely
