Abstract

With the development of the times, all aspects are competing to create new, creative and innovative things, including batik motifs. Various kinds of batik motifs in the archipelago make batik a cultural heritage full of diversity. The main element that should not be left behind from batik is the motif because behind the motif is stored prayer, hope for the wearer, one of which is a batik cloth with the name Bomantara. "Bomantara: Batik Cloth Reinterpretation of Surya Majapahit Reliefs" is focused on styling the shape of motifs inspired by Surya Majapahit as the main motif. Supporting motifs draw the form of flora such as tendrils and flowers. Using the concept of reinterpretation as a concept of forming motifs that produces the novelty of motifs and adds to the diversity of batik motifs, especially the shape of Surya Majapahit. The purpose of creating batik cloth is 1) Explaining the concept used in the creation of batik cloth. 2) Visualization of the form of the work with the title Bomantara. 3) The embodiment of the work on the fabric as a whole.

Abstract

It is diaccompanied by the condition of Indonesia where the literature movement in the ability of students to read in the world of education and society is still relatively minimal. One that can be done through the school literacy movement is one form of government awareness of the importance of building a culture of literacy in the world of education in order to create a culture of reading and writing in the school environment as an effort to realize lifelong education. The main and most basic activities are directed at increasing interest in reading. The values of character education can be conveyed implicitly in every learning process, especially in Indonesian language learning. The use of digital literacy is also able to lead students to be able to capture and retrieve information from the internet with teacher monitoring. It is able to broaden students horizons in taking knowledge broadly and facilitate students to be creative freely with maximum monitoring and supervision.

Abstract

The Majority of pottery makers in Sambirata Village, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java are middle-aged women. Although their activities as pottery is often seen by community as a side job, in reality, it continues to exist amid competition for modern household equipment made of metal and plastic. The money that these middle-aged women pottery makers earn is more reliable as aroutine source of family income, compared to the work of their hisbands who work seasonally as farm labourers. In addition, pottery makers in Sambirata usually use the non-productive rice field in their village to get the raw material for making pottery. Here we see the peculiarity of this research, namely women who in Javanese culture are often considered as domestic workers are in fact capable of supporting their family and create a new value upon an unproductive rice field. Through qualitative research with participatory observation, researcher found the factors that made these women able to survive amidst modernity challenges.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of audio-visual aids on students’ academic achievement in mechanical engineering craft practice in technical colleges in Rivers State. Two research questions were posed and two null hypotheses were tested in the study. Quasi-experimental design was adopted for the study. Purposive sampling technique was used to draw the three technical colleges offering Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice out of the four technical colleges in the state. A multi-choice test instrument tagged “Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice Achievement Test” was used for data collection. Research questions were answered using mean. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) statistics was used to test hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study recommended that teachers of mechanical craft practice and other technical disciplines should vigorously adopt the use of audio-visual aids amongst other active instructional aids in the delivery of their day to day lessons.

Abstract

The study investigated “trajectories for engaging rural communities in non-governmental organization programmes for sustainable community development in Rivers state” Three objectives, three research questions and hypotheses were tested in the study. The design used for the study was a descriptive survey. The population of the study was all rural community leaders and non-governmental organizations officers in Rivers State. Statistics showed that there were 1,170 community leaders in Rivers state. The sample size of the study was 342 community leaders and 89 non-governmental organization officers. The instrument used in the study was a close ended questionnaire titled “Trajectories for Engaging Rural Communities in Non-Governmental Organization Programmes for Sustainable Community Development”. The instrument was validated and tested for reliability using Kuda-Richardson 21, whereby 0.83 reliability coefficient was obtained. Mean and Standard Deviation was used as statistical tool for data analysis and z-test was used to test hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.

Abstract

Construction expenses have mostly grown unaffordable in recent years. Civil engineering institutes and stakeholders throughout the world have worked to develop recyclable and resource-saving concrete for building applications in order to reduce these expenses. The majority of environmental issues arise from the disposal of trash in areas where marble sculpting takes place. The marble stone slurry generates both stone slurry and solid wastes, and with the massive discharge of marble trash locally, emphasis has been focused on the utilisation of waste material. This study looked into the use of marble dust powder in concrete, with varied percentages of marble dust (0%, 5%, 10%, 15% & 20%) replaced by sharp sand in M20 grade concrete mixes, while the water cement ratio was kept constant at 0.45. The compressive and split tensile strength of the concrete were evaluated after 7 and 28 days of curing time to determine its quality, performance, and dependability. The laboratory findings revealed that replacing marble dust powder with cement boosted concrete strength by up to 10% in terms of compressive load resistance and tensile strength.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between employee performance at private universities in Lahore, Pakistan, and the extrinsic and intrinsic benefits that their employers provide them with. The empirical findings confirm that both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards have a positive and significant impact on employee performance for academic staff in private universities located in Lahore, Pakistan. The method of primary data study that we use allows us to collect the data using a questionnaire in a variety of private universities. Based on what we found, we think that it would be good for universities to offer incentives to their academic staff. These incentives could be either intrinsic or extrinsic, or they could be both.
