Abstract

A single stage bifurcated system in its wide spectrum of applications in the petroleum and gas processing industry, chemical industry and civil engineering industry, in the distribution and recovery of processed and unprocessed fluid and materials. Considered in this experimental investigation of the impact of a single stage symmetrical bifurcated system on the flow of viscous fluid and refined hydrocarbon to truly establish a relationship between specific dimensions of symmetrical bifurcated flow channels and the physical properties of various classes of fluid samples. Peanut oil and diesel were selected to respectively represent viscous fluid and refined hydrocarbon, as they are allowed to flow through some selected angles of a single stage symmetrical bifurcated channel until designated volumes of each of the fluid samples are recovered into a recovery beaker. Profile of results presented from the experimental study reveals a trend with a sharp negative velocity gradient for small flow time corresponding to smaller recovery volume and a much lower velocity gradient for relatively higher flow time for higher recovery volume for less viscous and dense diesel oil representing refined hydrocarbon and a more viscous and dense peanut oil represented by the trend with a lower negative velocity gradient. The implication of the results obtained is that bifurcated systems offer flow stability in a continuous flow situation, and also observed from the results is the confirmation of the existence of velocity gradient between opposite wall of the branched channels, which further reveals where the flow state will eventually begin to graduate into turbulence. The study can be extended by investigating the impact of two-stage or multiple level bifurcated network system on flow structure and stability, and how the pressure based on the level of fluid in the reservoir is related to the flow velocity and stability.

Abstract

The present study aims at exploring predictors influencing mathematics performance. In particular, the study focuses in four subject’s components such as motivation, attitude towards mathematics, learning style, and teaching strategies. A sample of 240 students from Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) were involved in the study. Path analysis was used to test the direct and indirect relations between the predictors and mathematics performance. Based on the result, the calculation of reproduced correlation through path decompositions and subsequent comparison to the empirical correlation indicated that the path model fits the empirical data. Results also revealed that a large proportion of mathematics performance can be directly predicted from attitude towards mathematics, learning style, and teaching strategies. Moreover, attitude towards mathematics, learning style, and teaching strategies influence mathematics performance in direct and indirect ways.

Abstract

After India got independence from the British rule in 1947, the main challenge for the makers of the new constitution was the successful management of the vast ethno-cultural, religious and linguistic diversity of the country. Accommodating minorities in a way that respects their distinctive identity was indeed a great task for constitutional makers. The paper, therefore, intends to study the role of Indian constitution in protecting the deep-rooted diversity of India. It seeks a detailed analysis of the general and specific provisions of the constitution that guarantees the minorities not only a safe survival but their empowerment as well. The study found Indian constitution a multicultural document that ensures minorities a dignified status by conferring them some special rights available only to them.

Abstract

This study seeks to develop understanding from the literature the important relationship between corporate governance mechanism especially board characteristics and R&D strategic decision making. Some board characteristics, such as board size and independence are positively associated with firm performance. Directors of different ethnic, cultural backgrounds and different nationalities stimulate a firm to improve or develop new products. Older directors are less risk-tolerant than younger ones and invest less in risky R&D investments. The effect of board size on performance is negative and significant, while it has a positive and significant impact on R&D investment. Therefore, board characteristics are the considerable factors in affecting the effective R&D strategic decision making.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Foreign Exchange (Forex) that runs in the investment sector and can help the development of Indonesia. Currently, forex has become an endemic trend and has attracted the attention of many parties, both investors and the public in general. Foreign exchange or forex is a type of trade or transaction that trades the currency of a country against the currencies of other countries involving the main money markets in the world for 24 hours continuously, so in this case a legal protection is needed. Lately, it turns out that there are many cases of fake investments in the form of gambling under the guise of investment that have claimed many victims. The purpose of this study is to find out how to guarantee legal protection for the rights of victims of criminal acts and how to provide compensation and restitution mechanisms for victims of criminal acts of fraud (gambling under the guise of investment). Through normative legal research, it is concluded: 1. Legal protection guarantees for the rights of victims of criminal acts are very important considering that the consequences of criminal acts can cause a person to experience physical, psychological and property losses and suffering. Through the legislation guaranteeing the protection of the rights of victims, it is necessary to obtain legal certainty and justice as a result of the occurrence of a crime. 2. The mechanism for providing compensation and restitution to victims of criminal acts has been regulated in Government regulations no. 44 of 2008 concerning the Provision of Compensation, Restitution, and Assistance to Witnesses and Victims, which is the implementation of Law no. 13 of 2006. 3. Another alternative to the provision of restitution and compensation that can bridge the two sides, namely the victim and the state, is to provide compensation through the issuance of State Securities which can make the victim receive compensation, and the state gets an injection of funds in terms of development without hurt both sides

Abstract

Research on e-commerce in Malaysia is developing, especially amongst the manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as it includes questions about the adoption of business-to business (B2B) e-commerce. Manufacturing SMEs accounted a large portion of gross domestic product (GDP) and SMEs exports. Previous scholars from the developed countries had conducted several research on these issues compared to the developing countries, especially Malaysia. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) was used to measure the company’s performance from four different perspectives. Strategic agility as a moderator should be attributed to the adoption of B2B e-commerce to improve business performance. Strategic agility plays a vital role in technological change, which can improve business performance. The study obtained detailed information on the respondents through the 49th edition of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Industry Directory. Three hundred and eighty-one Malaysian manufacturing SMEs participated in this study. The collected data used the online survey methods and Smart Partial Least Squares Analysis (SmartPLS) under the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The BSC’s point of views include that financial, customers, internal processes, and learning and growth had a significant impact on the adoption of B2B e-commerce. The results showed that strategic agility governed the relationship between B2B e-commerce and internal processes.
