Abstract

This paper analyzes an important gap in understanding the role of the Environmental Non-Government Organizations in Indonesia’s policy on re-export waste. This paper provides insights into how NGOs can be more effective to enforce Indonesia’s policy on re-export plastic waste to anticipate non-military threats and protect the environment and public health from the harmful effects of illegal waste imports. Moreover, this research will help to ensure that the government is held accountable for enforcing its policies regarding waste plastic import. Using the New social movement theory by Philip W. Sutton and the descriptive qualitative approach can answer and help to understand the role of Environmental NGOs. The result shows that Environmental NGOs played a significant role in shaping Indonesia’s on implementing re-export plastic waste and used various actions such as advocacy, lobbying, and awareness campaigns to influence policy decisions and ensure that the government’s policies were in line with environmental protection. The new social movement theory emphasizes the role of non-government organizations in shaping the social environment, especially in raising awareness of the environmental and health risks posed by plastic waste.

Abstract

Aceh is one of the provinces in Indonesia which is located at the tip of Sumatra Island. History records that Aceh has a strategic position which is the starting point for trade from the sea. Both national and international traders use Aceh as a transportation route. The maritime history of the Kingdom of Aceh can be preserved and published, such as the story of Admiral Keumalahayati. The purpose of this research is to take lessons from the story of Admiral Keumalahayati's leadership for the development of a maritime defense strategy. This study uses qualitative methods and uses a socio-political approach to determine the character of leadership and historical methods to determine the journey of Admiral Keumalahayati's leadership. The results showed that Admiral Keumalahayati had been the leader of the Inong Bale Troop (widow woman), conducting diplomacy with countries that wanted to cooperate with the Kingdom of Aceh. Admiral Keumalahayati was the first female warlord to become the navy leader of the Kingdom of Aceh. This maritime history ultimately has a significant role in overcoming several problems related to Indonesia's position as the world's maritime axis country.

Abstract

This article delves into the contentious issue of whether the Prophet, peace be upon him, was afflicted by magic or not, a topic that has engendered extensive debate among Islamic scholars throughout history and into the present. The prevailing belief among the majority of Muslim scholars is that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was indeed affected by magic. They assert that this conviction is grounded in authentic and reliable narrations, leaving no room for doubt. However, they contend that the impact of magic on the Prophet did not compromise the authenticity of divine revelation. Instead, they likened it to the effects of common illnesses on human beings, solely influencing his soul and body. Conversely, a minority of contemporary scholars, who identify as rationalists and modernists, along with some classical scholars, maintain the view that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was not affected by magic. They argue that the narrations concerning this matter lack authenticity and reliability. Furthermore, they posit that accepting the notion of the Prophet's affliction with magic implies a lack of soundness and trustworthiness in the divine revelation he received during that time, attributing any perceived lapses in his senses to the alleged magical influence. For instance, some narratives indicate that the Prophet believed he had undertaken actions that he had not actually performed. This study adopts an analytical approach to investigate and analyze the subject matter. It relies on a comprehensive collection of academic articles, books, and magazine articles authored by Islamic scholars. By drawing from these reputable sources, the research aims to provide a thorough and rigorous examination of the chosen topic. The inclusion of diverse perspectives and scholarly insights contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the subject, enhancing the credibility and reliability of the study's findings. This research concludes that the prophet Mohammad was bewitched by magic but the magic was not powerful enough to have a destructive effect on his intellect. Furthermore, this magic was unable to have impact on the divine revlation that was revealed to him.

Abstract

To examine and explain the implementation of strategic management accounting, tax knowledge and competitive advantage on tax compliance mediated by organizational performance. The data collected in this study are primary data. Primary data collection was carried out by survey method using a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. This research was conducted at companies in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Serang. The sample units are business entities and individual business actors whose scope is manufacturing. The unit of analysis is companies in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Serang, while the respondents are staff, general managers, CEOs or company owners. Data analysis used inferential statistics from partial least squares (PLS).The findings in this study indicate that strategic management accounting, tax knowledge and organizational performance have a significant direct relationship to tax compliance. While competitive advantage has no effect on tax compliance, however, it has an indirect effect through organizational performance. Thus, competitive advantage has a positive and significant effect on tax compliance mediated by organizational performance. Then strategic management accounting does not have a direct and significant influence on organizational performance. In addition, organizational performance was found not to have a mediator role, both from strategic management accounting and tax knowledge on tax compliance. The authenticity of this research is evident from the effort to include tax compliance which is indicated by an increase in the amount of tax paid to the state treasury every year in proportion to the amount of income. Therefore, in this study, a question instrument was developed related to the effect of increasing tax payments on tax compliance itself.

Abstract

Tourist loyalty is widely regarded as a crucial driving force for the success of businesses in the tourism industry, including destination marketing. Tourists' choice of accommodation is greatly influenced by the attitudes or perceptions they acquire, which in turn determines their commitment to returning to the same hotel. The fundamental aim of this research is to explore how satisfaction and commitment mediate the development of tourist loyalty towards hotels in the post-COVID-19 era. The research employs a quantitative approach and entails conducting a survey among 225 foreign tourists accommodated in post-COVID-19 quarantine hotels. All data are analyzed using SEM PLS analysis. The findings of the study reveal that service quality and risk perception exert a positive and statistically significant influence on the satisfaction levels of tourists residing in post-COVID hotels. The better the service quality and the lower the travel risk perception, the stronger the satisfaction and commitment of tourists to these quarantine hotels. Satisfaction acts as a mediator in the relationship between service and commitment. Commitment is proven to mediate the relationship between service quality and tourist loyalty. Tourist loyalty to a product is not solely determined by low risk; rather, if tourists have positive perceptions, commitment performance will increase. Therefore, satisfaction acts as a precedent to commitment and tourist loyalty. Health risks can be minimized by continuing to implement health regulations in hotels, thereby enhancing tourist trust..

Abstract

This article aims to describe and discuss the conflict of Islamic beliefs within the state system, with a focus on the concept of the Islamic caliphate (khilafah). Religious conflicts often arise due to differences in interpretation and contextualization of the application of religious laws. The conflicts that arise can lead to negative radicalism, extremism, and terrorism. The emergence of radical movements and terrorism is triggered by beliefs in religion that are believed to be the will of God. The Islamic caliphate, as one form of such movement, has diverse views among Islamic intellectuals, including right-wing extremists, left-wing extremists, and moderates. In this study, a qualitative descriptive method was employed with data collection techniques through literature review. The results and discussion of the article explain that the caliphate is a governing institution in Islam led by a caliph. There are differing views on the obligation to establish the caliphate. Some groups argue that establishing the caliphate is a duty for Muslims, while others reject this view. The views of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah in Indonesia are that Islam does not explicitly require the establishment of an Islamic state or caliphate. Both organizations argue that Muslims have the authority to design a governance system in accordance with the demands of time and place. This article provides an understanding of conflicts in religious beliefs, particularly related to the Islamic caliphate. With a better understanding of these differing views, it is hoped that society can avoid extremism, radicalism, and terrorism, which can threaten the nation and state's well-being.
