Abstract

When disasters occurs, cellular network might be down and cannot serve subscribers anymore. Meanwhile, many victims trapped in a wreckage might still have access to their mobile phone. An OpenBTS-based cellular network has been long before known as an ideal solution to rapidly deploy emergency GSM cellular network in situation after disaster. In this work, the methods which enable OpenBTS to assist the search for victims was developed. On the other hand, OpenBTS can also provide phone and SMS services so that victims can communicate with rescue teams who are conducting the search process. The voice and SMS services between victim’s mobile phone and SAR team’s smartphone were tested. As a result, phone service can be done by routing calls from victim’s cell phones in OpenBTS network to SAR team’s smartphone in wireless LAN networks. Thus, the SMS data from victim’s mobile phone can be stored in the database system. SMS data can then be accessed using a database browser.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technique in computerscience that combines real world conditions with the computercomputation results in the form of 2D or 3D graphics. In this study,a method and application implementation in Augmented Reality environment with markerless was discussed. In the markerless technique, interaction process between humans and computers becomes more natural and intuitive than the marker based techniques. Markerless techniques applied in this study used facial feature points so that the result is more robust for the head objectdoes not produce light. The main problem in this area of researchis how the process of controlling the 3D object movement does notexperience anomalies such as railroad phenomenon, where the theeyes catch as if the distance between the two railroads narrower atthe farther view. This study used POSIT (Pose from Orthography and Scale with ITeration), where the position and orientation of the 3D objects were projected in orthographic from facial featurepoints with scaling, so the change in the distance between the faceand the webcam were proportional to the big - small changes of 3D objects. The next step was iteration process carried out four to fivetimes to look for the smallest error factor to obtain the best pose.

Abstract

Cooperative is one of actors in Indonesian economywhich is expected to be a cornerstone of Indonesian economy. Based on statistical data on the site of Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium, many cooperative at provincial level have failed. One attempt to be able to reduce failure rate of cooperatives at provincial level is that there needs an effective and efficient guidance to know reasons of failure cooperative, so the coaching focused on the reasons of failure. The purpose of this research is building cooperative failure detection system based on rule of classification results from cooperative dataset using C4.5 algorithm. The stage of system development implemented Waterfall software development, while Black Box Testing Method was used as system testing for measuring whether system was able to run well or not. The result shows that information system of failure detection cooperative at provincial level can detect cooperative failure and provide information of most influential factor in that failure.

Abstract

Referring to the president’s instruction of number 3 in 2004, the transportation department has been given a project to build some managing and controlling shelters for counting and reporting the traffics. Based on an observation of landline transportation from Yogyakarta to Cirebon, the process of vehicles’s computation was done manually by using mechanical timer button, and the result was stored on logbook. This causes a problem since the computation requires rapidity and good physical condition to acquaire the accurate data. In the research, an automatic system of vehicles computation was designed by utilizing the technology of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). The vehilcles were identified by radio waves emanating from the RFID reader, and the RFID transponder code would be processed into information needed by the user application. The result shows that a system of traffic computation utilizing RFID that is able to process some information automatically to analyze the traffic jam.

Abstract

ADS-B is a surveillance technology for transportation. For an aircraft, ADS-B broadcasts its information simultaneously such as identity, flight number, position, altitude, velocity, etc. Due to the limited range of receiving the data, ADS-B needs multi-receiver to increase the capability of receiving data. But, the usage of multi-receiver raises new problems in the ADS-B data stream, such as redundant and outliers. These problems can reduce the quality of data received because it does not represent its actual flight conditions, in other words the nature of time-series data are blurred. This paper proposed a new method for preprocessing the data stream of the ADS-B multi-receiver to get good quality of data. The good quality of data means all unique data successfully restored and redundant data is removed, so its time-series characteristic is regained. This method used coordinate information (latitude and longitude) in ADS-B data as a reference for preprocessing. Applying agglomeration clustering techniques and the rule of distance consistency as merging strategy of the cluster, this method is able to generate the data ADS-B that represents the status of the real aircraft, which is time-series data. This simple method can generate good quality of data from the data ADS-B multi-receiver.

Abstract

Tonsillitis or known as tonsils is a medical condition characterized by inflammation of the tonsils, causing sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, and in certain cases can lead to heart attack or pneumonia. Doctors diagnose tonsillitis in a visual way, see tonsil inflammation and assess subjectively. This study designed a tool to calculate the area of inflamed areas that can be used to help doctors diagnose tonsillitis. Tonsils image processed on the red layer to quantify the extent of tonsils. Furthermore, the red area was calculated as area ofinflammation. In next stage, find the feature extraction using histogram analysis to find the distribution of image intensity levels. The results were classified using k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN). From 64 datas which consists of 32 normal and 32 tonsillitis, a system can reach 90,625% accuracy rate. This value is achieved at the cityblock distance measurement and k = 1.

Abstract

Health is very important thing in our life. Therefore , many people who regularly check their health to know their medical history. Unfortunately the data that will be medical history is frequently lost as a result of sloppy documentation, whereas medical history of data is very important to follow up on further treatment, especially on the case of having treatment to the other place or doctor. This research created a tool that can store and read data of the patient's identity of communicable diseases ( PPTM ) including health history . The data of health was stored in an RFID chip (RFID Tags) so that data could be flexibly held by subject of PPTM. When he/she went to the doctor , the doctor could check the medical history of the subject of PPTM by reading RFID Tags carried by subject of PPTM through an RFID reader and displayed it on android device. The result shows that the device is able to work with a maximum distance data transmission as far as 28.60 meters.

Abstract

External lightning protection system consisting of a finial, down-conductor and grounding are important aspects in the installation of lightning rods. The study was conducted by using a finial rod copper that aims to study the protection angle of a lightning rod. High finial of the earth would determine the angle of protection desired. Based on this research, the object of protection is the angle between 85,6° - 89,3°. This suggests that a lightning rod has limitations in protecting an area. The larger the area to be protected, the more number of lightning rod needed.

Abstract

This paper presents the design, simulation and harmonic analysis of a one-phase inverter circuit. The impacts of the used passive filter and the used of snubber on the quality of the voltage output of the one-phase inverter, which used full-bridge configuration, were described in this paper. The passive LC filter using the combination of an inductor and capacitor was configured in parallel with the load, such that the voltage output waveform can be modified from modulated pulse waveform into purely sinusoidal waveform. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the voltage output can be well reduced by using such LC passive filter. The circuit was designed and modeled in SPICE program code, then simulated and analysed. The result shows that the use of Zener Diode as a circuit snubber is able to improve the power characteristic and voltage magnitude of the designed inverter as compared to commonly used Diode.

Abstract

Grounding rod is more practical than grounding plate or grounding strip. Grounding resistance value must be set as small as possible, but it is hard to approach the standard grounding resistance value. There are some methods used to reduce grounding resistance such as: paralleling ground rod, extending ground rod, or enlarging ground rod diameter. This paper explains the influence of square cage electrode (1x1 meter) on single ground rod resistance value. In this research, ground rod’s length and diameter were 1.5 meters and 12 millimeters respectively. Ground rod was planted on the ground while the butt was on land surface. Grounding resistance value of that single ground rod was then compared with grounding resistance value of the combination of single ground rod and the square cage electrode (dimension 1x1 meter). The results show that : (a) 1x1 meter square cage electrode with four edge rod (length 0.5 meters; diameter 12 millimeters) can minimize grounding resistance value of single ground rod (length 1.5 meters, diameter 12 millimeters) by 29 ohms. (b) 1x1 meter square cage electrode with eight edge rod (length 0.5 meters; diameter 12 millimeters) can minimize grounding resistance value of single ground rod (length 1.5 meters, diameter 12 millimeters) by 32 ohms.
