Abstract

HF radio which frequency allocations 3-30 MHz is suitable for communication in long distance, wide, separated by oceans and remote area. This system is to be an alternative for a high cost satellite technology, especially Indonesian area where there is no communication system there. In this paper, we discussed long distance HF communication system parameters, namely elevation angle and Maximum Usable Frequency for Merauke-Surabaya link. For computation, the radius of the earth used was radius of the earth in equator. Ionosphere variation conditions were obtained from ionosonde measurement operated in Kupang by LAPAN in March 2013. The results of this computation are : if HF radio waves are reflected once, the elevation angle will be too small so that it was difficult to apply for antenna. In order to make it simple to apply, radio waves has to be reflected twice in F layer. The other result are that MUF values depend on foF2 variations for each days where MUF is higher in a day than in a night.

Abstract

Recently, the development of telecommunication is getting faster following the high amount of its users and the highgrade quality of telecommunication networks need. Due to this reason, it is highly needed an optimizing activity to keep and improve the performance telecommunication network. The optimizing is done for maintaining and improving the performance of 2G GSM network. In this paper, the performances that will be analyzed are accessibility, retain ability, and integrity which will be represented by 5 KPIs (Key Performance Indicator).In this paper, author is aiming to discover the extend of the influence of global layering strategy implementation on 2G GSM 900 and GSM 1800 to the GSM network performance. The optimizing strategy being used in this research is global layering strategy; the implementation is by engage all cells in the same range and by prioritizing the traffic network of GSM 1800 to GSM 900 network either in the idle or dedicated condition. The result of strategy global layering show that all KPI improved except KPI TBF establishment success rate. This degradation caused by unbalance traffic between GSM 900 and GSM 1800.

Abstract

Qualitative and quantitative analysis on emission spectrograph detector are important to identify impurities elements in nuclear fuel. the process is still using a densitometer based manual method which has limitations due mechanical factors on instrument and expert chemists requirements. To reduce measurement error on manual methods, we develops analytical methods by processing scanned digital image of a spectrogram. The aim of this paper is to identify impurities on nuclear fuel elements (boron and cadmium in uranium oxide). Image processing is done by cropping digital image to separate each the spectra result of excitation processes and identify impurities, which enlarged later to refine the distribution of signal intensity of pixels. Signal processing methods for quantitative analysis conducted with pulse peaks analysis. Results obtained then substituted into a standard curve obtained from regression analysis of sample reference to calculate concentration of the element. End results indicated that signal processing can be used to identify and analyze the elements in the detector, element concentrations value of image processing is not different from the results of analysis of densitometer on statistic significancy level of 5%.

Abstract

Eye iris pattern recognition is widely used for the purpose of identifying a person's identity. This is can be done because the iris is unique and has a high consistency and stability for years without changing. In this research we will perform iris image pattern recognition by the Haar level 3 wavelet transforms and the LVQ neural networks. This research is expected to know the iris images pattern recognition systems which are more effective; efficient also requires a short time in matching process on this method. The object in this research is the PNG color images with size of 128 x 128 pixels. Parameters used in this research are to varying value of learning rate 0.01 and 0.05, the number of neurons 30 and 40; and epoch value 100 and 200. The values of these parameters will be varied so that the obtained parameter values are the most effective, efficient and a relatively requires short time in the process of the iris image pattern recognition.Based on testing performed, the Haar level 3 wavelet transform combined with LVQ neural network in the process of finding the iris images. The method also gives fast matching process and high accuracy level. Changes in the values of learning rate, number of neurons and epoch value affect network performance. The iris matching process has the fastest time of 2.15 seconds and the higher of accuracy of 87% when the value of learning rate 0.01; the number of neurons 40 as well as the epoch value 100.

Abstract

In this research, has been done the next usage of ultrasonic and fuzzy logic to determine fruit maturity level. Reflection of ultrasonic with different frequency are used to measure water content and fruit texture in other side fuzzy logic are used to determine the fruit maturity level depend on water content and fruit texture. The research was limited to avocado, mango and papaya. Sample of data obtained by measure 30 fruit of each kind and test it with laboratories to calibrate and also test it with human perception to prove the fact of maturity. The result of this research is device that can transmit ultrasonic signal then read the reflection of it and MatLab application to fuzzy logic processing. Accuracy and precision analyzing give the result that the sistem have a good accuracy and precision with low condition of error rate. However, analyze give not good condition of precision for the percentage of maturity level. Analyze with statistic calculation give the result that there is a strong and linear correlation between water content and fruit texture with the level of fruit maturity. The research found that the fruit in mature condition is not always having sweet taste and also the opposite.

Abstract

In this design, microcontroller ATMega8 and a wireless joystick device of the Play Station 2 are used to control a mobile robot manipulator. The wireless joystick device consists of a transmitter and receiver modules. The device is connected to the microcontroller using Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) communication. The received data in the receiver module from the transmitter module is accessed by the microcontroller. Once received by the microcontroller, the data is used as reference in controlling various actuators in mobile robot manipulator. The results of testing, such as testing of forward and backward motion, turn right and turn left motion and the testing of manipulator motion, show that the wireless control system can control mobile robot manipulator as expected. Wireless communication between the transmitters to the receiver can be connected well at a distance of 0 to 10 meters. Meanwhile, at a distance of more than 10 meters wireless communication cannot be connected.

Abstract

Renewable energy sources is a solution of alternative energy to overcome the electricity crisis in Indonesia. Hybrid Power Plant at Baru Padansimo beach, Bantul, Yogyakarta, is the pilot project of Hybrid energy based on potentials of solar energy and wind power which used as models in the developement of renewable energy in integrated manner through Regional Inovation System. Performance of a hybrid power system can be evaluated from reliability system and economic aspects. In general, integration on Hybrid Power Plant system is a multivariable system, so to model the hybrid system, a 2.68 version of HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables) software is needed. This software optimizes the design of Hybrid Power Plant system based on the lowest NPC value with estimated measurements or system capacity and costs as outputs. Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant system configuration consists of PLTS and PLTB. The analysis of Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant system is done through two systems modeling Off-Grid and On-Grid. First, the results of the analysis indicate that the Hybrid Power Palnt system is feasible in meeting the needs of users of electrical energy based on the total net present value (NPC) of U.S. $ 307,302, generating cost (COE) of U.S. $ 0.872 per kWh, electricity production capacity of 121, 239 kWh per year, and the excess of electricity during the year amounted to 94 705 kWh. Second, the configuration of Hybrid Power Plant system On-Grid can improve the effectiveness of Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant in the utilization of renewable energy sources as to reduce the NPC to U.S. $ 253,850, at a cost of U.S. $ 0.720 COE. The ability of selling electricity at 94,705 kWh per year. Configuration system to grid can also reduce network’s CO2 emissions by 31,557 pounds per year.

Abstract

Ministry of Health RI has issued a policy to guide the implementation of health development undertaken by the government and private sector in order to improve the quality of health services at the hospital. This quality improvement is formed by the implementation of Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) in every hospital. The implementation of HMIS is still having problems and obstacles in the level of user acceptance. There are still many operational and managerial things that, makes the implementation of HMIS not properly running.This research study analyses the results of the implementation of HMIS from the user acceptance levels, using the integration model of the Task Technology Fit (TTF) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Usage of Technology (UTAUT).

Abstract

IT investments can be profitable and also harmfull for the organization. To get the value of information technology (IT), it takes more than just an investment but also need IT intelligence itself. One way to assure the investment done properly and provides benefits to the Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA) is to measure the maturity level of IT investment management. This research measures the maturity level of IS/IT investment management at UNIMA using Information Technology Investment Management (ITIM) method. ITIM is commonly used for organizational improvement by providing a roadmap that agencies can use for improving their investment management processes by describing the critical process in each stage of maturity to simplify evaluation. The results of these measurements, the maturity level of IS/IT investment management at UNIMA is at level 1. There are several key processes that are not fulfilled for entry to level 2. By knowing a picture of the IT investment management today, recommendations to improve investment management processes can be given.

Abstract

Course registration is a routine activity that is carried out every new semester. Along with the increasing number of students in Politama, the running computer and intranet system are no longer able to provide students for completing their registration activity. The Internet and WAP based course registration system provides a choice for students on registering courses via WAP mobile devices. This system is developed with waterfall process model. System analysis and design uses object-oriented method an MVC (Model View Controller) design pattern with UML (Unified Modelling Language) notation. System is directly tested with usability testing. There are five usability attribute to be tested, namely learnability, efficiency, memorability, errors, and satisfaction. Results show that this WAP-based system has good enough attribute values. All mean values are above 3 (easy), based on Likert scale 1 (very difficult) to 4 (very easy).
