Abstract

Rapid population growth and significant economic development have an impact on land conversion in urban areas. This study aims to analyze the effect of population growth and economic development on urban land conversion and planning on environmental sustainability and quality of life in urban areas. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach by collecting secondary data from several sources such as books, government reports, scientific journals, and related publications. The results of the study show that population growth indirectly contributes significantly to land conversion in urban areas. The demand for housing, infrastructure and other public facilities increases as the population increases. Meanwhile, the economic development of a region also has an impact on land conversion. The increase in industrial and commercial sectors has triggered land conversion into industrial areas, shopping centers and businesses. The impact of urban land conversion such as environmental damage, decreased air and water quality, loss of natural habitats, population density. Therefore, the government and related stakeholders must respond by issuing firm policies and sustainable strategies to maintain the main functions of land, preserve green areas and develop efficient infrastructure.

Abstract

Indonesia has made notable advancements in the development of its educational infrastructure. However, persistent challenges pertaining to educational equity and quality continue to impede economic progress. The objective of this study is to map the research on the relationship between education and economic development in Indonesia using the Scopus database from 1965 to 2024. The study employs bibliometric analysis to examine trends, themes, and research gaps across 920 articles. The findings indicate a notable surge in research activity following 2015, with pivotal themes encompassing educational inequality and regional disparities. These implications highlight the necessity for targeted policy interventions and future research that employs a longitudinal and interdisciplinary approach in order to support informed policymaking and strategic planning for Indonesia's educational and economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Keynes's Hypothesis and Wagner’s Law in the cities and dustricts in Papua Province economy. This study is a quantitative study using data on government spending, real Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and GRDP per capita of cities and districts in Papua Province in 2010-2020. Panel data regression and Granger Causality testing were used for testing the hypothesis of Keynes and Wagner's Law as well as for proving a two-way relationship between GDRP and government spending. The results show that Wagner's Law does not work at the districts and cities in Papua Province. The regional economic growth doesn’t effect the government spending or public sector share in the regional economy. Furthermore, the Granger Causality Test had proved a one way relationship between government spending on GRDP per capita which's mean the Keynes hypothesis are proved. The government spending increases in order to improve the regional economy in districs and cities in Papua Provinces.

Abstract

The trade conflict that persisted in 2018 put pressure on global trade volumes and reduced economic growth overall. The global economic downturn has hampered economic growth in a number of countries. The economies of the ASEAN region's member nations generally grow faster than those of developed and developing nations combined. Indonesia was able to post stronger economic growth in 2018 despite the world economy contracting and uncertainty rising, but regional economic growth in Indonesia does not correspond with Indonesia's economic growth, which is trending upward. An instrument that can impact a nation's macroeconomic stability and economic expansion is its monetary policy. This research aims to analyze the monetary policy transmission mechanism through which interest rates influence regional economic growth in Indonesia. The author uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to measure the impact of monetary policy shocks within the monetary policy framework set by Central Bank of Indonesia. The results show that the framework that has been established by Central Bank of Indonesia through the transmission of monetary policy through the interest rate channel does not provide a uniform response at the regional level.
