Abstract

This research aims to produce prototype of computer-based business mathematics teaching materials to improve student achievement of Accounting Department, Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB). In this research, to reach the target of teaching materials of computer-based business mathematics, the development using Borg and Gall method with some modifications into five steps: needs analysis and curriculum majoring in accounting, initial product development, education expert validation, small group trial , and large group trials. Trial of small group and large group by involving first semester student of Diploma IV Managerial Accounting Study Program, Accounting Department, PNB. Based on curriculum analysis and needs analysis, teaching materials are developed in the form of modules with Microsoft Excel application and the result of the initial product are five modules with topics of Formula, Linear and Non Linear Functions, Interest Calculation, Annuity, and Linear Programming. Education expert validation using five aspects resulted in an average score of 4.13 (good). Trial of the teaching materials by measuring student perceptions using three aspects for small groups resulted in an average score of 3.81 (good) and for large groups resulted in an average score of 4.23 (good). Furthermore, results of evaluation in large groups indicate a significant increase in mean of student scores from before and after using computer-based Business Mathematics teaching materials

Abstract

Library can be said as the heart of the universities. Politeknik Negri Bali (PNB) as one of the universities in Indonesia currently has one library room located on the 2nd floor of the PNB Central Building. Based on the data, the average number of PNB library visitors in the year 2017 is only 15% of the total civitas. This number shows that PNB library has not been optimally utilized. The purpose of this study is to assess the satisfaction of library visitors to PNB library services, so that the PNB library in the future can provide better service and the number of library visitors can increase. The variables used are five service dimensions, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and emphaty. The method of analysis used in this study are importance performance analysis (IPA) and analysis of customer satisfaction index (CSI). Results shows that there are some services that need to be maintained, such as the completeness of facilities, updated collection, air circulation, locker safety, convenience in finding references, knowledge of employee, hospitality of employee, concern of employee, response of employee, and good comunication between employee and visitors. According to CSI method, the visitors’ satisfaction level is 76,40% which is classified as satisfied.

Abstract

Obviously listening improves speaking skills. Polytechnic graduates are to have business transaction skills. Meanwhile, the time allotment for English class sessions is limited. Therefore, the teachers are to promote students’ autonomous learning through listening. This study investigates how the students major in commerce at an Indonesian polytechnic complete listening tasks and attitudes toward the acquisition of listening skills. Training on how to complete the listening activities through shadowing was carried out with 43 students. A questionnaire was distributed to find out the students’ views on the suggested listening activities and their opinions to improve them. The study found students’ preferences in practicing listening; most employed 1 or 2 or 3 steps. Most include initial listening, reading, and one of the types of shadowing - silent shadowing with reading or synchronized shadowing or prosody shadowing. None of the students was interested in doing silent shadowing. They admitted that their listening most improved their pronunciation and enriched vocabulary. They expected more lecturer engagement in controlling their listening activity. By better understanding the students’ needs and opinions, strategies to encourage autonomous learning can be improved.

Abstract

Industry 4.0 competency model has three areas of competence as salience, there is Information Systems, Computer Science, and Engineering. It hence requires adaptability to SKKNI Golongan Pokok Industri Kulit, Barang dari Kulit and Alas Kaki to accommodate these three areas as part of the competence that must be owned by industrial workers. The analysis of competency needs of leather industry and footwear industry aims to produce SKKNI accordance recommendation to the concept of industry standard 4.0. The method used is point-to-point correlation between predictors and criteria initiated by (Bartram, 2005) and further developed by (Prifti, Knigge, Kienegger, & Krcmar, 2017). In the end SKKNI which is embraced through the application of this recommendation will be use as reference for the formal and non-formal curriculum education improvement to prepare industry workforce towards industry 4.0 era.

Abstract

This research is a study of the quality of the translation of directive speech acts in the subtitle of The Mask of Zorro. There are four objectives achieved from this research, namely; 1) identify the types of directive speech acts used in the subtitle of the film dialogue The Mask of Zorro, 2) describe the types of speech acts used at different social strata. 3) describe the techniques used in translating directive speech acts 4). accessing the accuracy of the translation results. The results of the study explained four findings. The first finding shows that the most used directive speech acts category is Requirements (39%), namely instructing explicitly, ordering, wanting, demanding. the second category is Requestives (35%) which is used to invite, ask, beg, and invite food. While the speech acts of advices (advices) only (11%) are encouraging, advising, warning, suggesting.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses dan hasil peningkatan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris menggunakan media belajar film. Film sebagai media belajar sangat disukai oleh mahasiswa sehingga memudahkan mahasiswa berinteraksi. Metode penelitian menggunakan penelitian tindakan. Proses pengumpulan data adalah observasi, catatan harian, dokumentasi dan tes. Proses validasi data penelitian dilakukan selama proses kegiatan tindakan dan hasil yang diperoleh serta melibatkan kolaborator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media belajar film memberikan dampak yang positif terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Hal ini disebabkan karena penerapan media belajar film menjadi sangat menyenangkan. Nilai rata-rata dari siklus pertama ke siklus kedua sampai siklus ketiga mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan. Nilai rata-rata siklus 1 adalah 62,2. Nilai rata-rata siklus 2 adalah 71,2. Nilai rata-rata siklus 3 ada;ah 80,5.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the opinions of bussines Administration students about the Jakarta State Polytechnic canteen, both the kantin bawah (kawah) and the kantin teknik (kantek). Canteen is one of the places of interest by students to meet their physical needs. In relation to fulfilling the needs of these business Administration students, what can be served in the kantin bawah or the kantin teknik is what they need and can not be what they expect either the food offered or the drinks served or other factors they get in canteen. The data analysis method used is qualitative and quantitative analysis or combination analysis. Qualitative is done by describing the results of quantitative analysis, while quantitative analysis using the formula of the attitude indeks. Data collection uses questionnaires given to respondents to obtain primary data and literature studies to obtain secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the biggest attitude index is the technical canteen which is 3.08 and for the lower canteen is 2.73. This reflects that the canteen most favored by business administration students of the Jakarta State Polytechnic is a kantin teknik.

Abstract

Studi ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi dosen terhadap penggunaan teknologi digital, yang biasa disebut information & communication technology (ICT), pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang digunakan oleh dosen kepada mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan data kuantitatif. Dalam proses pengumpulan data, penulis menggunakan dua perangkat penelitian berupa kuesioner, dan wawancara terhadap dosen bahasa Inggris di PNJ. Pengkajian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan informasi terkait persepsi dosen terhadap penggunaan ICT, dan juga mengidentifikasi kendala dalam penggunaan ICT pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 100% responden setuju bahwa pengajaran bahasa Inggris sangat cocok dipadukan dengan ICT, juga setuju bahwa penggunaan ICT juga dapat membuat pembelajaran menjadi sangat menyenangkan. Sedangkan, terkait kegunaan ICT bagi Mahasiswa, 18% responden tidak setuju dengan manfaat pengajaran ICT yang akan mempermudah mahasiswa dalam mendapatkan pekerjaan (yang layak) dimasa yang akan datang. Selain itu juga, 15 hingga 25% responden juga tidak setuju bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan ICT dapat membantu mahasiswa memahami materi secara mendalam, kemudian meningkatkan nilai bahasa Inggris, dan membantu mahasiswa dalam berkomunikasi. Namun, terdapat beberapa kendala ditemukan secara intrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Kendala yang dialami dosen paling besar merupakan kompetensi dosen dalam menggunakan ICT sekaligus juga pengalaman-pengalaman buruk yang pernah dialami dosen dalam penggunaan ICT dalam kelas. Pada kendala ekstrinsik, masalah yang dihadapi dosen adalah kurangnya pelatihan ICT dan masalah koneksi internet. Kendala-kendala ini membuat para dosen menjadi berpikir dua kali dalam mengoptimalkan penggunaan ICT dalam kelas. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan evaluasi bagi dosen bahasa Inggris selaku pelaksana di lapangan dan bagi institusi sebagai pembuat kebijakan.

Abstract

Kesadaran bela negara itu hakikatnya ialah kesediaan berbakti pada negara dan kesediaan berkorban membela negara. Tercakup di dalamnya adalah bersikap dan berbuat yang terbaik bagi bangsa dan negara. Wujud bela negara ialah cinta tanah air, kesadaran berbangsa dan bernegara, yakin akan kesaktian Pancasila, rela berkorban untuk bangsa dan negara, serta mempunyai kemampuan awal bela negara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah angket dengan analisis kuantitatif pada nilai mean. Kesadaran bela negara pada mahasiswa diimplemtasikan pada membuang sampah pada tempat yang disediakan, perlindungan dan keamanan bagi masyarakat sudah baik, taat beragama dengan sudah melaksanakan dan menjalankan ibadah dan menjaga kerukunan hidup di antara sesama umat beragama dan kepercayaan terhadap Tuhan yang Maha Esa, sadar telah membina diri saya sendiri agar dapat mandiri kelak, dan bangga kepada perjuangan para pahlawan. Namun ada kesadaran bela negara pada mahasiswa masih kurang yaitu turut menjaga keamanan lingkungan kampus, tidak cukup mewakili kampus dalam kegiatan olah raga dan seni, masih mengedepankan kepentingan pribadi dibadingkan kepentingan bangsa dan negara, cenderung memilih tidak memilih (golput) pada pemilu mendatang, dan kurang berminat menjadi anggota menwa atau tentara.
