Abstract

Large funds are used by organizations to invest in business applications to achieve the strategic and business operational goals of the organization. Running business operations using applications which are closely related to technology comes with the risk of bugs, errors, and similar issues. This risk will lead to a negative impact on the output of information that may cause errors and data loss. To prevent this from happening, the proper action that needs to be applied to overcome the risk is by conducting an information system audit on the application control that is implemented. An information system audit is an audit process carried out to determine whether the application or information system implements a sufficient control system. Application control testing is an important thing to do to overcome potential risks that could threaten the application. This research applied qualitative descriptive approach. This research aims to identify whether Accurate 5 and Zahir 6, the two accounting software applications, have been designed appropriately and could be operated effectively. The research findings indicate that the Accurate and Zahir applications implement controls, however, there are some weaknesses that should be fixed to improve internal control. In the Accurate application, there were differences in output results for reports, date entries that exceeded the limit, and sign checks on unit prices. Whereas in the Zahir application, it was identified that there were discounts entered that exceeded the range and sales reports that were not varied.

Abstract

Community-based ecotourism (CBET) aims to empower local communities through engagement and participation in Cambodia. This study investigates the relationship among tourism destination love, community engagement, socio-cultural attributes, support for CBET, perceived impact likelihood, community economic benefits, and CBET development in ecotourism sites and biodiversity conservation by drawing on a case study of the main eight ecotourism areas in Cambodia. The study used a quantitative research approach to investigate and parameterize the dynamic ecotourism components, and to explore key factors influencing the CBET using a self-administered survey by intercepted 406 visitors and structured questionnaire items were asked local communities who provide tourism services to visitors in eco-tourism destination sites in November 2022 and March 2023. The results of SEM indicated that all relationships among research variables (as proposed in the conceptual model) were significantly impacted and confirmed by this study. This means that CBET requires additional essential support from the resources listed above in order to grow in local communities in Cambodia.

Abstract

The differences in the character of generation X and generation Y in terms of the way of working, the values they have, and their commitment to the organization are matters that must be addressed by the company during the development of the banking world, especially state-owned banks in the face of changes in the company’s external environment in the future. This is a comparative research that aims to identify differences in organizational commitment between generation X and generation Y through the influence of empowerment and value. The research findings indicate significant differences between organizational commitment in generations X and Y. In the dimensions of affective commitment, normative commitment, and continuance commitment, significant differences were found between them. Empowerment and value have a significant influence on organizational commitment in generation X, with a significant joint influence. Similar is the case for generation Y, with a lower level of influence. The analysis revealed that the determination of empowerment in generation X was higher than that in generation Y, while differences in the contribution of value’s influence were also observed between the two generations. Qualitative tests using the Delphi technique also support these quantitative findings.

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate dynamics of behavioral biases and their consequential effects on individual investment decisions within the real estate sector in Nepal. Through a comprehensive examination of existing literature, this research identifies prevalent behavioral biases among investors, including the illusion of control, cognitive dissonance, herd instinct, hindsight, and representativeness biases. Employing a descriptive research design, content analysis of scholarly articles elucidates the significant influence of these biases on investment decisions. The findings underscore a strong correlation between behavioral biases and investment choices, with notable biases such as loss aversion, self-attribution, regret aversion, and over-optimism prominently shaping investors’ attitudes towards real estate investments. Moreover, the study highlights the pervasive impact of optimistic outlooks on future returns and the herd mentality, wherein investors are driven by peer actions, contributing to the burgeoning real estate market in Nepal. This research provides valuable insights into the underlying behavioral mechanisms driving investment decisions, offering implications for investors, policymakers, and practitioners in mitigating biases and fostering informed decision-making in the real estate domain.

Abstract

Leaders in Cambodia's construction business face obstacles that demand them to employ their leadership style in guiding personnel to operate at high performance levels. This study aims to investigate the impact of different leadership styles on employees’ performances at one private construction company in Cambodia. Design/Methodology/approach: Using convenience sampling, 152 valid structured questionnaires for the quantitative study and 30 unstructured questionnaires for the qualitative study were acquired following distribution. This study used a mixed methods research design. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for the quantitative analysis of the data. The inferential statistics of the data were presented using regression analysis and Pearson's correlation to explain both relationships and effects in accordance with the study assumptions. Text analysis using theme analysis for qualitative data. The study found a significant positive correlation between employee performance and four leadership styles (transformational, transactional, autocratic, and democratic) at a private construction company in Cambodia. Autocratic leadership had the lowest standard error and highest adjusted R-square, explaining the most variance in employee performance. The study found that construction workers use a variety of leadership styles, including transformational, transactional, democratic, and autocratic, to manage and resolve issues. Autocratic leadership has the highest correlation with employee performance, followed by democratic, transactional, and transformational styles. This hybrid and mixed leadership styles are used to ensure worker efficiency and safety. The study's value lies in its demonstration of how to apply successful leadership styles to improve employee performance, hence raising productivity and maintaining an inventive work atmosphere.

Abstract

The role of fintech may pose a good impact on MSMEs and society in carrying out financial transactions and services digitally, easily and quickly. This requires improving inadequate financial literacy to encourage inappropriate financial decisions and avoid fraud or loss of funds from using fintech. This condition can play a big role for MSME players and society in economic growth which is able to apply digital technology well. The purpose of this study is to analyze and determine whether financial technology influences MSME players' financial literacy and performance, as well as how financial technology affects MSMEs' performance indirectly through financial literacy. This research sample was taken using purposive sampling, with the criteria being MSMEs that sell food and beverage products and those that have used financial technology products. There were 100 MSME units used as samples in the research obtained from the Surabaya City Cooperatives, SMEs and Trade Department. Research data collection uses a questionnaire and the data analysis technique for this research uses path analysis. The findings of the research indicate that financial literacy may moderate the impact of financial technology on the performance of food and beverage MSMEs in Surabaya and has a noticeable beneficial impact on MSMEs' performance. This explains that increasing adaptation to the use of financial technology needs to be supported by increasing financial literacy by MSME players to have the ability to enhance MSMEs' performance.

Abstract

The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) explains how people's cognitive perceptions and behavior are formed when they use and accept technology. This study focuses on three main components that influence the acceptance and use of TikTok Shop. These factors are Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), and Attitude towards Using (ATU). This study aims to investigate how the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) impacts university students' use of the TikTok Shop feature in Indonesia. Data was collected through a questionnaire sent via Google Forms and included 102 students from various universities throughout Indonesia who had previously used TikTok Shop every day. SmartPLS checks the hypothesis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research findings indicated that students' perceptions of the utility of the TikTok Shop are significantly and positively influenced by their perceptions of the shop. Ease of use of the platform substantially influences the usefulness of the platform and students' attitudes towards it. In addition, ease of use of the platform indirectly influences students' perspectives through the influence of perceived benefits. Students' evaluations of the usability and convenience of TikTok Shop significantly influence their attitudes and willingness to use the website.  This study also provides insight into the critical components that determine the acceptance and use of e-commerce platforms based on social media. The practical implications of this research relate to suggestions for improving the creation of e-commerce platforms, encouraging a more favorable disposition for their users.

Abstract

Purchasing decisions are individual activities directly involved in making decisions to make purchases of products offered by sellers. Purchase intention is an essential factor in the consumer decision-making process. In order for consumers to have interest in making purchases, strong branding is needed from the company. A strong brand can be obtained from the brand credibility that can be trusted, as well as information regarding the product position in a brand. Apart from a strong brand, companies nowadays also strive to create strong relational bonds with their consumers. This strong relational bond creates self-congruity as consumers decide to purchase and consume goods and services with an image that matches consumers' self-image. This research aims to examine the effect of brand credibility and self-congruity on purchase decisions for Apple MacBook Pro consumers in Surabaya through purchase intention as a mediating variable. This is a quantitative research with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 150 respondents in Surabaya with a minimum age of 17 years, who were selected through purposive sampling technique. The data collected was analyzed with the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The findings of this research indicate that brand credibility and self-congruity directly influence the purchase intention of MacBook Pro users in Surabaya. Brand credibility and self-congruity were also found to directly influence purchase decision and indirectly through purchase intention of Apple MacBook Pro users in Surabaya.

Abstract

Private universities in Indonesia have a crucial role in facilitating students' access to higher education. However, many private universities still struggle with difficulties, such as inadequate quality and non-optimal management. Therefore, educational transformation is needed through the improvement of good university governance. Good governance requires strong leadership, strategic planning, healthy financial management, and effective supervision. In addition, the empowerment of human resources, such as lecturers and education personnel, is also crucial to improve the quality of graduates and the competitiveness of private universities. Thus, they are expected to produce graduates who are competent and ready to meet global challenges, and contribute to national development. This research aims to examine and analyze the role of Good University Governance (GUG) in empowering Human Resources (HR) in private universities. This research method used qualitative methods to determine the implementation of GUG in improving the performance and capacity of human resources in universities. Data analysis was conducted to understand the impact of GUG on various aspects of HR empowerment, such as professional development, work motivation, and involvement in decision-making. The results showed that the implementation of GUG in private universities has contributed significantly to improving the quality of human resources. Transparency and accountability in university management encourage active participation of lecturers and staff, while continuous professional development policies improve their competence and performance. In addition, participation in decision-making creates a more inclusive and collaborative work environment, which further supports innovation and creativity.
