Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the effect of guided discovery learning model on critical thinking skills and motivation of students on learning materials elasticity and Hooke law. Learning physics in the classroom tends to be monotonous and less attractive where students are not involved directly in the find a concept, so that the students have not been motivated to active in learning. The effect critical thinking skills of students is low, because students did not experience their own facts that happened. This research is an experimental research. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Jenggawah. The data are collected by test, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. To examine the hypothesis, this research used independent sample t-test with SPSS 22 version. According to independent sample t-test analysis in the critical thinking skills showed sig value (2-tailed) is 0,000 or < 0,05 then Ho is rejected, and for the motivation of student’s showed sig value (2-tailed) is 0,000 or < 0,05 then Ho is rejected. In conclusion, the guided discovery learning model has a significance influential to critical thinking skills and motivation of students on learning materials elasticity and Hooke law in Senior High School 1 Jenggawah

Abstract

This research focused on the implementation of GI-GI model in learning of physics on the subject of work and energy. The aim of this research are: to study the influence of the model to students’ physics achievement, to describe students’ physics learning activities and students’ retention. A kind of this research is experiment by post test only control group design. The population of this research is students of class XI IPA in SMAN 1 Pakusari and the sample is two classes, XI IPA 4 as an experiment group and XI IPA 5 as a control group. Data collection techniques are documentation, observation, interview and test. Data analysis tecniques to study the influence of the model to students’ physics achievement is independent sample t-test on SPSS 22, to describe students’ physics learning activities and students’ retention use descriptive analysis with percentage. Findings of research are: (1) students’ physics learning activities during the model is 87,9% in very active criteria. (2) students’ physics achievement after using the model showed sig.value (2-tailed) is 0,02 or < 0,05 and it shows that there is a significance difference of student’s physics achievement between the experimental group and control group. (3) Students’ retention after using the model is 109,5% in high category. The research can be concluded that: GI-GI model has a significance influential to the students physics achievement on the subject of work and energy, students’ physics activities included in very active criteria and students’ retention included in high category.

Abstract

Guided inquiry is the application of constructivism learning theory which is based on scientific examination and investigation. The purposes of this research are too: (1) examine the differences in students science learning result using guided inquiry learning model with contextual-based video and learning model commonly used in SMP; (2) describe students activities; (3) describe students motivation. This research is a kind of experimental research which uses randomized post-test only control group design. The samples of this research are the students of class VII at SMPN 7 Jember, i.e. class VII B as a control class and class VII C as an experimental class. The data were analyzed using Independent Sample T-test in SPSS 16 to show differences between experimental class and control class. The results of this research are: (1) there are differences in students science learning result using guided inquiry learning model with contextual-based video and learning model commonly used in SMP; (2) the percentage of students activities is 87.81%; and (3) the percentage of students motivation is 85.77%.

Abstract

MALAPA bulletin is a supplemental teaching material that is attractively presented to give new nuance in teaching and learning process and to make the students able to understand the materials at ease. This research is meant to create a new product; MALAPA bulletin, that is appropriate to be used in teaching and learning process. The purposes of this research are: to produce a valid bulletin, to describe student’s interests and to know student’s thinking abilities toward the usage of Mari Belajar IPA (MALAPA) bulletin. The development design implemented in this research was 4-D development model. The results of the research show that the bulletin is valid category with 4.11 of expert validity. Student’s interest percentage toward the teaching and learning uses MALAPA bulletin is 83.54% with a good category. Student’s critical thinking ability percentage acquired 78.5% with a good category. MALAPA bulletin developed is weekly published where it contains materials that is modified as attractive as possible like warta sains, komik strip, TTSains, pantun sains, as well as the exercises. Based on this research result, it can be concluded that MALAPA bulletin is appropriate to be used as an interesting supplemental teaching material.

Abstract

Laboratory’s management is the important thing for a laboratory. Good management of laboratory will influence the users’ performance. Good management need good performance of laboratory’s manager. Purposes of this study were to describe how well the basic physics laboratory’s management was done and how its influence to users’ performance dan satisfaction that was caused by laboratory manager’s performance when she was serving users. The analysis was conducted by using descriptive qualitative methods. The results showed that basic physics laboratory of FKIP in Jember University was in good category but for maintenance and safety need to be better, students’ performance as users in very good category although lecturers’ performance as users were in good category, and students and lecturers’ satisfaction when they’re served by laboratory’s manager in some performance’s indicators such as reability, responsiveness, emphaty, assurance and tangible were in a good enough category.
