Abstract

Lignite is the lowest quality coal and cannot be traded in the market. One alternative is that lignite coal has a better use value, lignite coal can be used as a material for making activated carbon. Coal which has become activated carbon can be applied to tofu industrial waste water as an adsorbent in absorbing chemical oxygen demand contained in tofu industrial waste water. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of activated carbon from lignite,opium conditions and isotherm modeling. The method used in the manufacture of activated carbon from lignite is to use an activator in the form of 2 M NaOH with a carbonization temperature of 500°C using variations of 60 minutes and 90 minutes, then the activated carbon is soaked in 2 M HCl solution. Results from carbon characteristics The active lignite coal meets the requirements of SNI 06-3730-1995, the optimum time for reducing COD is 15 minutes with %removal of 66%, the optimum pH for reducing COD is pH 5 with %removal of 63.84% and the isotherm model follows the Harkin isotherm model - Jura with an average relative error of 13.024.

Abstract

Kuwe (Caranx sp.) is a captured fishery commodity in the Sangihe Islands. The abundant catch of fish makes it difficult for fishermen to market because the local market in the Sangihe Islands cannot absorb it, and there is no cold storage with a large capacity to maintain the quality of fish. One of the ways to increase the durability is if the production of kuwe fish is abundant, namely by the dry salting method. The dry salting technique is relatively straightforward, so the community can apply it. This study aimed to observe the sensory characteristics and moisture content of salted kuwe fish products using the dry salting method. The research method was cleaning and fileting the kuwe fish meat, then dry salting with a salt concentration of 10%, 15%, and 20%, and drying in the sun. The results showed that the sensory test for salted fish appearance, aroma, taste, and texture was best at 15% salt concentration, with panelist values of 8.65, 8.20, 7.95, and 8.50 (respectively). The water content of salted fish at a salt concentration of 15% is 28.20%. The sensory characteristics and water content of salted kuwe fish wih salt concentration of 15% have complied with SNI 8273:2016, namely a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 40%.

Abstract

Kepel and pegagan (kola) leaves have been used as traditional- medicine. Combination kepel and pegagan leaves wasn’t known exactly how its antibacterial activity yet. The purpose of this study was to determine the combination ethanol extract of kepel and kola leaves as antibacterial activity. The method of this study is the well diffusion method. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods to obtain the minimum, maximum, mean and standard deviation values for the data. The analysis used a descriptive method to explain the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of kepel and pegagan leaves against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus epidermidis with the ratio of kepel and pegagan leaves in extracts 10:90, 30:70, 50:50, 70:30 and 90:10. The results showed that Escherichia coli bacteria had the largest inhibitory diameter in a combination of 70 parts of Kepel leaves and 30 parts of pegagan leaves with an inhibitory diameter of 0.800 cm, while for gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus epidermidis, the optimal inhibitory diameter was 0.950 cm in a combination of 40 parts kepel leaves and 60 parts of pegagan leaves. The combination of kepel and pegagan leaves is in providing bacterial inhibition. Escherichia coli bacteria are bacteria that are commonly found in the digestive tract and Staphylococcus epidermidis which generally causes acne.

Abstract

Increased waste generation is directly related to the increase in the number of population. Increasing waste generation make this issue needs serious attention from government so that garbage does not piled high in landfill. This study’s purpose  to estimate the reduction of waste generation and the City Probolinggo sourced from city waste for 10 years based on simulation results. Data was analyzed using software stella 9.0. The results that waste was entered to Landfill Bestari Probolinggo is of 0,20 kg/people/day. Waste was dominated by organic waste with a proportion of 73,83%, while the inorganic was amounted to 26,17%. The Recycling Scenario has the largest waste reduction. Waste reduction of Recycling scenario in Probolinggo City in 2032 was increased to 244,09 ton/year (220,09 ton reduction in composting house and 23,17 ton reduction in solid waste banks). The realistic improvement of recycling scenario involved with improvement scenario to added composter and waste banks facilities with comparison 70%:30%. Improvement for the scenario was selected by added composter and costumer of solid waste bank. Individual composter needed as much as 84 units and 570 customers of solid waste bank. In 2032, the addition of these facilities increased the reduction with 475,67 tons/year or 2,19 greater than existing conditions.

Abstract

Water Quality Checker is a water quality measuring device designed to use a microcontroller system and sensors as parameters for measuring the water quality. The aim is to facilitate the implementation of water quality monitoring from previously traditionally to using aids. The test method directly measures pH and salinity and experiments in collecting data. System workflow in tool design, Arduino orders sensors and sensor detection results are processed back to Arduino. The work results of the tool are calibrated with other standardized tools for pH and salinity values. The software used is limited to Arduino Uno and supporting devices and design applications for casing manufacturing, namely Solidwork. Using a pHE4502C sensor, a salinity sensor as a measuring tool, Arduino Uno as a microcontroller, and a LCD as a monitor that displays the value and status of the detected pH and traffic. By using the provisions that the pH value of coastal pond water is less than 6.5 which is acidic, more than 7.5 is alkaline, and the pH value is more than 6.5 and less than 7.5 which is neutral, at the time of testing it was obtained a pH value of 7.1 – 8.04 so that the solution is neutral and base. The results of the salinity sensor test for coastal pond water are 23.64 – 24.20 which indicates that this value is the normal value for brackish water salinity.

Abstract

Curly red chili in Bengkulu City often experiences price fluctuations from time to time. These price fluctuations are sometimes very extreme, causing public unrest both for food processing industry entrepreneurs and for daily household needs. Therefore, this study uses time series techniques to predict the price of curly red chili in Bengkulu City. This study discusses chili price forecasting using the Box-Jenkins ARIMA model based on curly red chili price data in Bengkulu City from 03 October 2022 to 28 February 2023. This research aims to look at the accuracy of the best model for curly red chili prices in Bengkulu city for the ARIMA model based on ACF & PACF criteria with autocorrelation coefficient values, and the smallest AIC criteria with the auto.arima function in R software. Next, forecast the price of curly red chili in Bengkulu City for the next period with the ARIMA model based on the best criteria obtained. Based on the ADF test, it can be seen that the data is not stationary so the data differencing process is carried out. The analysis results show that the best ARIMA model for curly red chili price data in Bengkulu City is the automatic ARIMA model with the smallest AIC criteria using the auto.arima function with the value of RMSE is 4197.7. The ARIMA model that is formed is the ARIMA (1,1,1) model. Next, the results of forecasting the price of curly red chili for Bengkulu City obtained based on the ARIMA (1,1,1) on 01 March 2023 is Rp 41,700.

Abstract

The forecasting methods used in this study are Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Multiscale Autoregressive (MAR). The ARIMA model does not include predictor variables in the model. The MAR model is a model that performs the transformation process using wavelets. The MAR model adopts an autoregressive time series (AR) model with wavelet coefficients and scale coefficients as predictors. The wavelet coefficient and scale are obtained by decomposition using Maximal Overlap Discrete Wavelet Transformation (MODWT). MODWT functions to describe data based on the level of each wavelet filter. This study aims to determine the best forecasting model using ARIMA and MAR models. The time series data used in this study is data on the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar. Data on the rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar for 2019-2020 is non-stationary data, so the ARIMA and MAR models can be used in this study.

Abstract

PT.X is a branch of the industry engaged in agribusiness that provides agricultural products and services. The production process carried out by PT. X results in a product and other production process that can no longer be used or discarded. B3 waste is the residue of a company and/or activity which because of its nature and/or concentration and/or amount contains hazardous and/or toxic substances which directly or indirectly pollute the environment, human health and can endanger the survival of other living things. The purpose of this research is to know and understand the B3 waste management system and to implement an evaluation of the B3 waste operating system. Data collection through observation in the form of a general introduction to the location and direct field orientation by PT. X offline. Data processing and analysis was carried out by comparing the existing conditions of the B3 waste treatment carried out by PT. X with applicable regulations. Research variables include reduction, packaging and storage, as well as the use of B3 waste management. The results of the study show the compatibility between the application of B3 waste management at PT. X and the regulations in force largely comply with this.

Abstract

Noise in the industrial sector of a company caused by the use of machines and working tools to support the production process. Noise levels that exceed the threshold limit can lead to hearing loss and the risk of damage to the ears, both temporary and permanent after exposure for a certain period of time without the use of adequate protective equipment. This potential risk encourages governments in various countries to make regulations that limit the level of noise in the industry. This research was carried out by observing and measuring directly on the research object, namely by using a Sound Level Meter and repeating the data 4 times at each point of data collection on noise intensity. An analysis of the noise intensity in the PT XYZ Bintan fabrication area was carried out in order to create a working environment that is safe, comfortable and conducive and can overcome the hazards caused by the noise generated. The noise level in the PT XYZ Bintan fabrication area does not fully meet the standard noise standards in the work environment according to the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 5 of 2018, which is 85 dBA. The results of capturing the distribution of Leq noise that have been made show that the noise level at Workshop 5 and Workshop 8 has passed the required quality standards, namely 95.1 dBA and 93.5 dBA respectively. While Workshop 9 and Workshop 10 the noise level was close to the quality standard, namely 84.3 dBA and 84.8 dBA. Mitigation efforts that have been carried out by PT XYZ Bintan are hearing protection including the use of hearing protection devices, audiometric testing as well as motivation and reduction of noise problems.

Abstract

Fertilizer is a supporter of the country's food security, the government through State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), one of which is PT Petrokimia Gresik, which is the most complete and largest fertilizer producer in Indonesia which produces several wastes, one of which is industrial wastewater. The existence of liquid waste is not expected in the environment because it has no economic value, therefore the need for waste treatment is very important. PT Petrokimia Gresik uses physical processing and chemical processing. PT Petrokimia Gresik has a wastewater treatment plant with a series of processes consisting of 2 effluent treatment units, equalizer, line injection, Urea Plant hydrolizer stripper, and sludge treatment. The parameters analyzed were Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Ammonia (NH3), Total Kjehdal Nitrogen (TKN), Fluoride, Degree of Acidity (pH), Oil and Fat. After conducting the research, the results of the analysis showed that the effluent pollutant load data was at the quality standards regulated in regulations. However, it was found that the results of TKN (Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen) or the amount of bound nitrogen in an organic substance varied.
