Core Subject : Education,
The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This research examines the advantages, challenges, and overall effectiveness of implementing the dual education system in technical schools in Uzbekistan. Using analytical, statistical, interview, and experimental methods, the study evaluates both international experiences and local practices. Results show that dual education strengthens the integration of theoretical and practical training, increases graduate employment by 15–20%, and helps alleviate the shortage of qualified personnel. Key challenges, such as weak school–enterprise cooperation, insufficient safety provisions, and limited availability of qualified mentors—remain barriers to system expansion. The study provides recommendations for improving policy, enhancing collaboration with enterprises, and modernizing vocational education standards.

Abstract

Pragmatic competence, which is considered one of the important components of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) process, allows learners to use language units appropriately in various social and cultural situations. In recent years, studies conducted in the field of second language acquisition have centered attention on factors that influence the development of pragmatic competence, especially the age factor. This theoretical review article is aimed at analysing the role of age in the development of pragmatic competence in children and adult learners. In this article, existing literature on pragmatic competence, communicative competence, interlanguage pragmatics and age-related theoretical approaches will be reviewed. Also, based on Critical Period Hypothesis, cognitive development theories and researches about pragmatic development, differences between children and adults will be analysed. Literature review shows that children, because of a long-term exposure to naturalistic language environment and social interactions, might have an advantage in acquiring pragmatic norms more naturally. In addition, adults can efficiently develop pragmatic competence with the help of advanced metalinguistic knowledge, analytical thinking and conscious learning strategies.

Abstract

This study examines how the "EGRA-U" mobile application helps monitor and improve reading literacy in primary schools. The Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) is a standard tool for testing early reading skills, but traditional paper tests take too much time to grade and analyze. To fix this, we developed the EGRA-U mobile app to automate the testing process based on international standards. We tested this app with primary school students over 12 weeks. The students were split into two groups: an experimental group using the app and a control group using traditional paper tests. The results show that students tracked with the EGRA-U app made faster progress in reading fluency and text comprehension. The app gave teachers immediate data, allowing them to help struggling students right away.
