The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

Abstract. This article examines the presence and mechanisms of gender bias in natural language processing (NLP) systems, particularly large language models (LLMs) and word embeddings. It explores how AI systems infer gender from textual data, the ethical implications of such inference, and the ways in which stereotypes are encoded in training datasets. The study synthesizes findings from computational linguistics, machine learning fairness research, and sociolinguistics to explain how bias emerges in data-driven language technologies. It also discusses current approaches for detecting gender stereotypes in datasets and evaluates mitigation strategies aimed at improving fairness in NLP systems.

Abstract

Abstract. The development of digital technologies and the increasing interaction among cultures have transformed modern literary translation. Modern translators are expected not only to transfer linguistic meaning but also to keep the cultural, artistic, and emotional features of literary works. This article discusses innovative methods in literary translation through functional and linguocultural frameworks while highlighting the growing impact of digital tools on the translation process. The study employs descriptive, comparative, and analytical methods to investigate the application of modern translation approaches in literary texts. The findings demonstrate that successful literary translation requires a balance between linguistic equivalence, cultural adaptation, and technological support. The results suggest that effective translation depends on the balanced use of functionalist principles, cultural analysis, and modern digital technologies.

Abstract

The systematic integration of artificial intelligence into educational assessment has progressed through distinct developmental stages, each characterized by specific technological capabilities, pedagogical orientations, and methodological frameworks. This article examines the sequential stages of artificial intelligence application in the assessment methodology of independent learning, tracing the evolution from rule-based automation through machine learning classification, natural language processing, deep learning analytics, and generative artificial intelligence. Drawing on empirical evidence from recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the article identifies five principal stages of AI deployment in independent learning assessment: diagnostic readiness assessment, adaptive process monitoring, automated formative evaluation, summative competency certification, and reflective metacognitive calibration. Each stage is analyzed in terms of its technological infrastructure, psychometric validity, pedagogical affordances, and limitations. The findings indicate that the most effective assessment systems integrate multiple stages within a coherent developmental trajectory, progressively transferring regulatory responsibility from the AI system to the learner. The article concludes with recommendations for designing stage-appropriate AI assessment architectures that support learner autonomy while maintaining rigorous standards of educational measurement.

Abstract

This study explores the efficient utilization of labor resources as a key determinant of employment growth in Uzbekistan. The research employs descriptive statistical methods, comparative regional analysis, and policy evaluation techniques to examine changes in employment indicators across Uzbekistan and its regions during 2020–2024. The findings reveal that the national employment rate rose from 66.0% in 2020 to 68.3% in 2024; however, significant disparities persist among regions. The most substantial improvements were recorded in the Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions, while slight decreases were identified in Bukhara, Jizzakh, and Surkhandarya. The results suggest that employment strategies should extend beyond overall job creation and incorporate measures such as the development of regional specialization, the formalization of informal economic activities, professional retraining initiatives, support for women’s and youth employment, enhancement of digital competencies, and stimulation of private-sector employment opportunities. The article offers practical policy recommendations aimed at strengthening labor resource management under conditions of demographic growth and ongoing digital transformation.

Abstract

This article discusses how emotions shape young learners' foreign language (FL) learning. It argues that children's progress depends not only on vocabulary, grammar, and classroom materials, but also on feelings of safety, curiosity, confidence, belonging, and willingness to take risks. Based on a literature review and pedagogical analysis, the article explains how positive emotions support attention, memory, participation, and communication, while anxiety, shame, boredom, and excessive pressure may prevent learners from using the language they already know. The paper offers practical suggestions for emotionally responsive FL teaching, including supportive feedback, predictable routines, playful repetition, cooperative tasks, and age-appropriate assessment.
