The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This article analyzes the views of Abu Abdullah Ja'far bin Adam Rudaki Samarkandi, a great Eastern thinker and poet known as the "Father of Humanity," on the concept of justice. Rudaki paid particular attention to the primacy of justice and the preeminence of human interests in society. He also examined the justice and humanism of a ruler. Rudaki's philosophical and ideological views embody profound humanistic ideas and a commitment to social justice. Abstract

Objective: To identify the factors that influence students in government sector medical colleges of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, when choosing between medicine as a career. Study Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Setting: The research was carried out in government sector medical colleges across (AJK), Pakistan. Period: Data collection took place from 1st March 2025 to September 2025. Methods: A total of 260 students were recruited using non-probability convenience sampling. A structured questionnaire was used to gather information on socio-demographics and to assess motivational factors—such as personal passion and parental pressure—using a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0, with descriptive statistics applied to categorical variables and chi-square tests used to compare responses across gender. Results: Out of 260 participants, 90 were male and 170 were female, with 167 enrolled in MBBS and 93 in BDS programs. Personal passion was the leading factor influencing career choice, reported by 81.5% of students, followed by prestige and social status at 55.7% and financial stability at 51.9%. External inspiration was noted by 47% of participants, while parental pressure was the least reported factor at just 23%. No significant gender differences were observed in any of these motivational factors. When asked about alternative careers, most students named Information Technology, Business Management, or Engineering as their next choice if not medicine. Conclusion: Students choose medical or dental careers not only out of personal interest but also due to social status, financial independence, and external inspiration. Both male and female students share largely similar aspirations in this regard.

Abstract

In this scientific article, ecological terminology, considered one of the most urgent directions of modern linguistics, is comprehensively investigated based on linguistic and translation principles. Global climate changes and the development of the green economy lead to the intensive formation of new ecological concepts within the linguistic system. Ecological terms in the English and Uzbek languages were selected as the object of research, and their derivational-semantic features, morphemic structure, and equivalence problems during translation into Uzbek were systematically analyzed. Using a comparative methodology, conceptual asymmetries between the two languages were revealed, and scientific recommendations were developed to minimize semantic losses in translation.

Abstract

This article examines the scientific and practical contribution of Academician Yunus Rajabi to the notation of Shashmaqom. The study employs historical-musicological, comparative, and source-analysis methods. The findings demonstrate that Rajabi’s notation activities played a crucial role in preserving, systematizing, and transmitting the musical texts of Shashmaqom to future generations. The research highlights the significance of his work in the development of Uzbek maqom art and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. Furthermore, the scientific and practical mechanisms of Shashmaqom notation are systematized and their importance for contemporary maqom studies is discussed.

Cultural tourism has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel industry, driven by an increasing desire among travellers to engage authentically with the history, traditions, and living cultures of destinations they visit. At the centre of this experience stands the tour guide — a professional whose role extends far beyond logistical coordination. This article examines the multifaceted importance of tour guides in cultural tourism, exploring their functions as cultural interpreters, economic contributors, heritage ambassadors, and community liaisons. Drawing on established frameworks in tourism management, the article presents key arguments for elevating the professional status of tour guides, provides actionable recommendations for industry stakeholders, and outlines an implementation roadmap for sustainable improvement. The findings affirm that tour guides are not peripheral service providers but indispensable pillars of a meaningful and responsible cultural tourism ecosystem.

Abstract

This article examines Speech Act Theory as one of the fundamental approaches in modern linguistic pragmatics. The study analyzes the theoretical foundations established by John L. Austin and the subsequent development of the theory in the works of John R. Searle. Particular attention is paid to the concept of speech acts as intentional communicative actions performed according to social conventions. The paper discusses the three components of speech acts—locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts—as well as the notion of performative utterances and felicity conditions. Furthermore, the article examines Searle’s classification of illocutionary acts, including representatives, directives, commissives, declaratives, and expressives, together with the distinction between direct and indirect speech acts. The role of speech acts in pragmatic meaning, interpersonal communication, intercultural interaction, and translation studies is also considered. The findings demonstrate that Speech Act Theory provides an effective framework for explaining how linguistic expressions function as social actions and how communicative intentions are realized in various discourse contexts.
