The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

The present article examines the lexical-semantic transformations of the Russian language during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, focusing on the intricate relationship between political discourse and literary language. The study analyzes how political ideology influenced the development of the Russian lexicon, the emergence of Soviet phraseology, and the subsequent adaptation of these linguistic phenomena in post-Soviet literary texts. The research methodology combines corpus linguistics approaches with discourse analysis, drawing on representative samples from Soviet and contemporary Russian literature. The findings demonstrate that political discourse has functioned as a powerful catalyst for lexical innovation, while literary language has simultaneously served as both a vehicle for ideological transmission and a medium of resistance through satirical and allegorical reinterpretation.

Abstract

Standard orthography suppresses most of the phonetic detail present in speech, yet non-standard writing — including dialect literature, eye dialect, transcribed oral narratives, computer-mediated communication, and historical spelling — often preserves systematic traces of allophonic variation. This paper proposes a replicable procedure for identifying and categorizing such allophonic markers in non-standard orthographic material. The identification procedure moves through five stages, from corpus assembly and deviation extraction to frequency screening, phonological environment coding, and hypothesis cross-checking, and includes explicit tests for excluding eye dialect, orthographic borrowing, and typographical error. Identified markers are then classified along four independent dimensions: phonological process type, structural domain, distributional status, and sociolinguistic motivation. Four illustrative case studies demonstrate how the procedure distinguishes genuine, systematically conditioned markers from superficially similar but non-phonetic respellings. The paper also discusses methodological challenges, including limited corpus size, hypercorrection, genre-internal heterogeneity, and the risk of confirmation bias during cross-checking, and outlines applications of the framework in historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, language documentation, and computational sociolinguistics.

Abstract

This article analyzes the developmental stages, theoretical foundations, and primary scientific approaches to the study of color-denoting units (coloratives) in global and Russian linguistics. It highlights the lexical-semantic, typological, ethnolinguistic, cognitive, and linguacultural aspects of color lexicon, describing the interconnectedness of color terms with human cognition, cultural experience, and the language system based on scientific sources. Furthermore, the paper synthesizes research on the semantic structure, metaphorical and symbolic meanings, and functional characteristics of color-denoting units within phraseology and literary texts. The study concludes that investigating color lexicon through a comprehensive approach allows for a deeper understanding of its role within the conceptual and linguacultural systems of language.

Abstract

This study examines how technology supports self-directed learning (SDL) among undergraduate students at Fergana State University. Using a mixed-methods design, data were gathered from 124 students through a structured questionnaire combining Likert-scale, multiple-choice, and open-ended items. Results show that most students use digital tools daily, especially smartphones and AI-based applications. Technology was found to meaningfully support SDL by improving access to materials, strengthening comprehension through multimedia, and fostering autonomy and motivation. However, persistent barriers remain, including digital distractions, limited self-discipline, unequal internet access, and ethical concerns around AI use and academic integrity. Qualitative responses confirmed that technology is widely viewed as transformative, though its impact depends on students' digital literacy and self-regulation. The study recommends that universities strengthen digital infrastructure, expand faculty training, promote digital literacy programs, and establish clear ethical guidelines for technology use. These findings contribute to the literature on technology-enhanced learning and offer practical guidance for institutions seeking to cultivate independent, motivated learners.

Abstract

The determination of Pb(II) ions at trace levels is essential for environmental monitoring and public health protection because of the high toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulative nature of lead. In this study, a Bromopyrogallol Red (BPR)-immobilized sorbent was developed for the sorption-spectrophotometric determination of Pb(II) ions in aqueous media. The sorbent was prepared by immobilizing Bromopyrogallol Red onto a silica gel matrix, providing a stable and highly active surface for the selective adsorption of Pb(II) ions. The effects of solution pH, contact time, sorbent dosage, and initial Pb(II) concentration were systematically optimized to establish the optimum analytical conditions. Under the optimized conditions, the developed sorbent exhibited excellent adsorption efficiency, high sensitivity, and good selectivity toward Pb(II) ions. The proposed method demonstrated satisfactory linearity, precision, accuracy, and reproducibility, confirming its suitability for trace lead determination. Furthermore, the method was successfully applied to environmental water samples with satisfactory recovery values. The developed sorption-spectrophotometric procedure offers a simple, rapid, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly alternative for the routine determination of Pb(II) ions.

Abstract

This article systematically investigates the scientific-theoretical foundations, modern methodical approaches, and pedagogical effectiveness of developing didactic games in preschool education organizations. Nowadays, the excessive academization of the educational process and the alienation from game technologies, which constitute the leading activity of preschool children, are analyzed as a pressing pedagogical contradiction. Within the framework of the study, traditional educational methods (frontal explanation and demonstration) were compared experimentally with the author's developed "Systemic Didactic Games Model," which integrates object-sensory, verbal-logical, and intellectual-board games. A total of 50 children from senior and preparatory groups (25 in the control group and 25 in the experimental group) participated in the experiment. Children's cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional development levels were monitored over 6 months based on J. Piaget and Wechsler methodologies. Mathematical-statistical and pedagogical diagnostics indicated that in the experimental group where the systemic didactic games model was implemented, children's logical thinking increased by 32% (from 44% to 76%), vocabulary and speech activity by 32% (from 52% to 84%), and teamwork and social adaptation skills by 32% (from 48% to 80%) compared to the control group. Most importantly, game technologies accelerated the learning pace of educational tasks by 1.5 times while reducing psychophysical tension and fatigue by 40%. The article scientifically substantiates the four-component mechanism of didactic games (goal, rule, action, outcome) and the educator's role as a facilitator. The findings of the study serve as a practical foundation for developing methodical recommendations for preschool educators, methodologists, and curriculum designers.

Abstract

This article examines the evolution of presupposition studies in linguistics from the traditional semantic-logical paradigm to the modern pragmatic-cognitive and discourse-oriented approach. The traditional approach, rooted in the work of G. Frege, P.Strawson, and N.Chomsky, treats presupposition as a logical condition operating at the level of the isolated sentence. The modern approach, developed within pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, and discourse analysis by scholars such as P.Grice, G.Yule, and S.Levinson, and extended in Uzbek linguistics by A.Nurmonov, U.Rahimov and N.Mahmudov treats presupposition as a text- and discourse-level phenomenon shaped by context, communicative intention, and the cognitive knowledge shared by speaker and listener. Drawing on comparative textual evidence from Abdulla Kahhor's short prose and Ernest Hemingway's fiction, the article identifies four discourse functions of presupposition — securing textual coherence, enriching context, revealing character, and economizing information — and proposes a integrative model situating presupposition at the intersection of cognitive, pragmatic, social, and textual processes. The findings support the conclusion that presupposition constitutes not merely a logical or grammatical category but a communicative-pragmatic mechanism of central importance to literary discourse.

Abstract

The article examines the continuity of the satirical traditions of N. V. Gogol and M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin in the short prose of N. N. Nosov. The techniques of grotesque, hyperbole, and social contrast adapted by Nosov for a children's audience are analyzed. It is revealed that the writer preserves the critical orientation of classical satire, softening it with a moral attitude and humanistic pathos.

This article discusses the definition of spondylosis, its causes, pathophysiological mechanisms, and age-related degenerative changes affecting the vertebral column. It examines the clinical manifestations of cervical and lumbar spondylosis, including radiculopathy, myelopathy, spinal stenosis, and neurogenic claudication. The article also highlights the diagnostic methods, physical examination findings, and imaging criteria used to identify the disease. Furthermore, conservative treatment strategies, physical therapy, pain management, and current surgical approaches for cervical and lumbar spondylosis are reviewed and discussed.
