The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This article examines the functions of synonyms and antonyms in Russian spoken and written speech. Synonymy and antonymy are important lexical-semantic relations that contribute to the richness, accuracy, expressiveness, and stylistic diversity of the Russian language. Russian synonyms allow speakers and writers to avoid unnecessary repetition, clarify meaning, select contextually appropriate words, and express different emotional or stylistic shades. Although synonymous words share a common meaning, they may differ in intensity, connotation, register, and lexical compatibility.

Abstract

This article examines the borrowing and adaptation of medical terms in English and Uzbek from a comparative perspective. It explores the main sources of medical terminology and the ways borrowed terms are integrated into the Uzbek language. The analysis is based on English and Uzbek medical dictionaries, terminology glossaries, and recent studies. The findings show that Greek and Latin remain the main sources of international medical vocabulary, while Arabic, Persian, Russian, and English have significantly influenced the development of Uzbek medical terminology. Borrowed terms are adapted to the phonological, morphological, and lexical features of Uzbek while preserving their scientific meaning. The study contributes to comparative terminology research and may support medical translation, bilingual lexicography, and terminology standartization.

Abstract

This article examines the ways in which grammar functions to hold people accountable with regard to gender-based violence (GBV) through the lens of media coverage in Zambia. In doing so this paper extends and builds upon an exploratory study of agency distribution, obscuration and contestation in news discourse using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis (FCDA). The data was collected from a qualitative examination of newspaper articles, online reports and associated digital comments published in Zambia between January 2025 to August of 2025. These texts were analyzed closely with particular attention paid to passive voice, transitivity, nominalization, and lexical choice, headline design, quotation patterns and reporting practices regarding survivors and accused individuals. A key contention of this research is that grammar is not simply a stylistic matter, but can be used as a social and ideological tool that either places perpetrator responsibility front and-center or allows violence to appear natural, private, accidental or morally ambiguous in public discourse. An expanded scope of analysis suggests that many reports continue to use grammatical constructions similar to "woman raped", "wife beaten to death", where the subject of the sentence is placed at the center of the clause and the agent performing the action is made invisible or secondary. However, the report also finds a developing counter discourse among some journalists who utilize active clauses, cite institutional agents and represent GBV as a problem of justice, policy and rights rather than as spectacle. Situating these findings within existing debates surrounding discourse, patriarchy and ethical considerations for journalism, this research contributes to scholarship examining the relationship between language, power and discourse while providing practical recommendation for newsroom practitioners, journalism educators, regulatory bodies and advocacy organizations working against GBV.

Furthermore, the architecture, hardware structure, and operational functions of the centralized Train Control and Monitoring System (TCMS) are thoroughly examined. Special attention is given to the diagnostic capabilities, fault logging, and multi-unit operation controls provided by the TCMS to ensure safe and reliable locomotive performance.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the most important skills in foreign language learning because it enables learners to communicate ideas, opinions, feelings, and information in real-life situations. However, many English language learners experience difficulties in speaking because of limited vocabulary, lack of confidence, fear of making mistakes, and insufficient opportunities for meaningful communication. This article examines the role of interactive activities in developing English speaking skills and considers how communicative tasks can encourage learners to participate more actively in classroom interaction. Particular attention is given to pair work, group discussions, role-plays, information-gap activities, problem-solving tasks, and presentations. Such activities can create a supportive learning environment in which students have opportunities to use English for meaningful purposes rather than simply studying language forms. The article argues that interactive activities can contribute to learners’ fluency, confidence, vocabulary use, pronunciation, and communicative competence. Effective classroom interaction should therefore be an essential component of modern English language teaching.

Abstract

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is widely recognized for its insightful depiction of women’s lives within the social framework of Regency England. While numerous studies have examined gender roles and marriage in the novel, comparatively little attention has been paid to the artistic techniques through which Austen constructs women’s social status. This article investigates how narrative voice, irony, characterization, dialogue, and free indirect discourse contribute to the representation of female identity and social position. Employing qualitative textual analysis supported by feminist literary criticism and narratology, the study analyzes the portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Bennet, Charlotte Lucas, Lydia Bennet, and Lady Catherine de Bourgh. The findings demonstrate that Austen’s artistic methods transform ordinary domestic events into a sophisticated critique of patriarchal values and class hierarchy. Rather than presenting women as passive figures, Austen uses subtle narrative strategies to reveal their intellectual capacity, moral judgment, and social agency. The article argues that literary techniques are central to Austen’s social criticism and that understanding these techniques offers a deeper appreciation of her artistic achievement. The study contributes to contemporary Austen scholarship by emphasizing the relationship between narrative form and the representation of women’s social status.

Abstract

This article examines the linguistic features of Turkic toponyms found in Abu Bakr Narshakhi's "History of Bukhara" and local waqf documents of the Bukhara oasis. The paper highlights the semantic and etymological stratification of oykonyms, hydronyms, and oronyms, as well as the functions and dialectal features of archaic Turkic lexemes such as yop, jar, qayir, and tegin. Furthermore, it analyzes the interaction patterns of Turkic and Iranian linguistic elements and the formation rules of hybrid toponymic models under the conditions of bilingualism in the Bukhara oasis.

Abstract

This article investigates the derivational features of noun neologisms actively used in the lexical system of modern Uzbek. The need to name new concepts emerging as a result of social, political, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural changes has led to the continuous renewal of the Uzbek vocabulary. In this process, particular importance is attached to the ways in which new noun lexemes are formed, their derivational patterns, and their degree of productivity. The study analyzes the formation of noun neologisms through affixation, compounding, the derivational activation of borrowed bases, and semantic development. Particular attention is paid to the combination of borrowed bases with native Uzbek word-forming affixes, the increasing number of compound nouns containing international components, and the growing productivity of certain derivational patterns in modern Uzbek. The findings demonstrate that the formation of new noun lexemes results from the interaction between the internal resources of the language and external linguistic factors.
