The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This article examines the educational potential of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach in fostering critical thinking and mathematical competencies among preschool children. The study emphasizes the role of interdisciplinary learning environments in promoting logical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and the practical application of mathematical concepts. It argues that STEAM-based educational activities encourage curiosity, creativity, independent inquiry, and cognitive development while strengthening children's mathematical literacy. Furthermore, the paper provides practical recommendations for integrating innovative STEAM methodologies into preschool education to support the development of essential twenty-first-century competencies.

Abstract

This article examines the scholarly development of the field of word formation in English linguistics during the 20th century. The study successively analyzes the theoretical views on word formation of H.Marchand, R.B.Lees, V.Adams, M.Aronoff, and other leading linguists. In particular, it discusses Marchand’s analytical-descriptive approach, Lees’s works in the field of transformational grammar, Adams’s systematic classification, and Aronoff’s research in the generative direction. The article sheds light on the long period during which the field of word formation remained on the periphery of linguistic research, and on the period of scholarly revival beginning in the 1960s, assessed as “the revival of the field.” Likewise, the prospects for studying derivational processes from the standpoint of cognitive and generative linguistics are also identified.

Abstract

Background and aims. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), now largely encompassed by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), is closely linked to excess adiposity and progressive metabolic injury. Ceramides are bioactive sphingolipids implicated in insulin resistance, lipotoxicity and fibrogenic signaling. We evaluated circulating ceramide levels in relation to body mass index (BMI) and liver fibrosis. Methods. This cross-sectional study included 84 participants: 29 controls without hepatic steatosis or fibrosis and 55 patients with NAFLD (28 with steatosis and 27 with steatohepatitis). BMI was assessed anthropometrically, fasting blood was collected using a standardized protocol, ceramide was measured by a high-sensitivity spectro-chromatographic method, and fibrosis was assessed by transient elastography/FibroScan. Non-parametric comparisons used Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests; ordered associations were assessed using Spearman correlation. Results. Median BMI was higher in NAFLD than controls (30.68 [IQR 6.21] vs 22.20 [2.50] kg/m2; U=13.000; Z=-7.385; p<0.001). In the NAFLD group, 12.7% had normal weight, 29.1% were overweight and 58.2% had obesity. Ceramide differed across BMI categories (H=38.356; p<0.001): 4.25 [8.54] in normal weight, 59.78 [55.57] in overweight and 59.73 [52.73] in obesity. Ceramide also differed across fibrosis stages (H=45.700; p<0.001), with mean values of 5.28+/-5.41 at F0, 30.74+/-23.74 at F1, 45.37+/-34.97 at F2, 57.80+/-23.11 at F3 and 44.17+/-26.88 at F4. Fibrosis stage correlated positively with ceramide (r=0.654; p<0.001). Conclusions. Excess body mass was accompanied by markedly higher circulating ceramide levels, and ceramide was associated with fibrosis severity. These findings support further study of sphingolipid metabolism as a metabolic marker linking adiposity and liver injury, while the cross-sectional design precludes causal inference.

Abstract

The article deals with the semantic expression of the value (axiological) component of the concept EDUCATION in the phraseological system of modern English. Relying on the three-component model of the concept (notional, figurative and value components) developed in Russian linguoculturology, the author analyzes 128 phraseological units selected by the continuous sampling method from lexicographic sources. The study identifies five semantic groups that verbalize the value component: the value of knowledge, the learning process, the opposition of wisdom and ignorance, teaching and upbringing, and the evaluation of the educated person. Quantitative analysis demonstrates that the axiological core of the concept is constituted by the absolute positive evaluation of knowledge, while ignorance is consistently marked as a deficit. The results contribute to the theory of phraseological concepts and may be applied in comparative studies of the English and Uzbek linguistic pictures of the world.

Abstract

This text analyzes the complex relationship between the creative individual and society through the example of Abdulla Oripov’s poetry. The author explores the socio-philosophical meanings reflected in the poet’s poems such as “Pushkin,” “The Nature Reserve,” “The Little Goldfish,” “The Stork on Top of the Kalyan Minaret,” “The Flute,” “Listening to the Munojot,” and “When the Lion Calls.” The analysis demonstrates how issues of lack of freedom, injustice, and human dignity in Soviet society are expressed through symbolic images such as the goldfish, flute, lion, ant, and stork. It also presents the historical and biographical circumstances surrounding the writing of these poems, including the pressure and persecution faced by the poet, as well as the recollections of his contemporaries concerning these events. The text argues that a true creative individual can act as an impartial observer of their time and society and can deeply express complex social problems through artistic imagery.
