Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of research on gender-responsive academic service information systems in higher education, identify the factors influencing their development, and develop a conceptual framework for a gender-responsive academic service information system in Islamic higher education. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA framework, encompassing the stages of identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and synthesis of the selected studies. The literature search was conducted using the Scopus database with the keywords “Gender Academic Services,” “Islamic Higher Education,” and “Academic Information Systems.” The initial search identified 211 articles, of which 18 met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that the development of academic service information systems in higher education has evolved toward strengthening strategic information systems, digital literacy, user experience, governance, sustainability, and human-centered academic services. The study also found that the development of gender-responsive academic service information systems is influenced by technology quality, self-efficacy, resilience, leadership, organizational governance, and an inclusive educational culture. Furthermore, this study develops a conceptual framework that integrates technological aspects, user experience, institutional governance, service sustainability, and gender responsiveness within academic services in Islamic higher education. This study contributes to the advancement of Islamic Education Management scholarship by strengthening the paradigm of technology-based academic services and gender responsiveness.

Abstract

Female Rifa'iyah religious scholars (ulama) have increasingly assumed social roles beyond the domestic sphere and Islamic boarding schools as a consequence of changing religious interpretations among Rifa'iyah ulama in Pekalongan. These changes have created broader opportunities for female Rifa'iyah ulama to engage in da’wah activities and interpret Tabyīn al-Iṣlāḥ, a Rifa'iyah religious text concerning marital and domestic life. Revitalizing organizations, educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, and providing guidance to the community have become additional responsibilities for female Rifa'iyah ulama in Pekalongan alongside their primary domestic roles. They have utilized these opportunities to maintain the continuity of the Rifa'iyah cultural structure. At the same time, their presence reflects a growing capacity to respond to contemporary challenges while contributing to the preservation and continuity of the Rifa'iyah cultural system. The study employs a historical research method comprising heuristic, critical, interpretative, and historiographical stages. The findings demonstrate that, first, female Rifa'iyah ulama occupy a central social role in teaching, preserving, and transmitting the teachings and cultural system of Rifa'iyah through Tabyīn al-Iṣlāḥ in Islamic boarding schools, organizations, and educational institutions through approaches characterized by gentleness, patience, and attentiveness. Second, female Rifa'iyah ulama actively conduct da’wah by studying Tabyīn al-Iṣlāḥ from women’s perspectives, with the expectation that the values embedded within the text may develop into a cultural system constructed by women as the primary pillar of education within the family.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of husband–wife relations in the Qur’an and its relevance to the issue of domestic violence through the approach of thematic Qur’anic exegesis (tafsīr mawḍūʿī). The discussion is grounded in the continuing prevalence of domestic violence, which fundamentally contradicts the Islamic principles of marriage that emphasize tranquility, affection, compassion, and justice. The research aims to analyze Qur’anic verses related to marital relations, interpret their normative messages, and explain their implications for the prevention of domestic violence. Employing a library research method, this study applies a thematic Qur’anic exegesis approach by collecting relevant verses, examining them through the interpretations of classical and contemporary exegetes, and formulating a comprehensive understanding of marital relations according to the Qur’an. The findings demonstrate that husband–wife relations in the Qur’an are founded upon the principles of mawaddah (affectionate love), raḥmah (compassion), mutual consultation, justice, and shared responsibility. The Qur’an positions husbands and wives as complementary partners rather than parties engaged in domination or violence. Consequently, all forms of domestic violence (whether physical, psychological, sexual, or economic) are incompatible with Qur’anic values and the broader objectives of Islamic marriage. This article concludes that a proper understanding of Qur’anic teachings on marital relations can serve as both a theological and ethical foundation for fostering harmonious family life and preventing domestic violence.

Abstract

The enactment of Law No. 4 of 2024 concerning the Welfare of Mothers and Children (UU KIA 2024) marks a new era in family protection in Indonesia; however, its provision of two to five days of paternity leave raises a functional concern. This study aims to evaluate and deconstruct the duration of paternity leave prescribed by Law No. 4 of 2024 through the perspective of substantive justice. Employing a juridical-normative legal research method with an interdisciplinary clinical psychology approach, the data were analyzed using content analysis operationalized through the Qirāʾah Mubādalah (reciprocal reading) interpretive framework. The findings reveal a profound philosophical and practical incongruence between the legally stipulated duration (5 days) and the clinical needs of the postpartum recovery period (40 days). This discrepancy risks increasing paternal stress while isolating mothers within the domestic sphere, thereby increasing their vulnerability to postpartum depression. Structurally, the regulation continues to perpetuate traditional gender bias by positioning fathers as administrative assistants rather than substantive caregiving partners. This study concludes that Law No. 4 of 2024 requires evidence-based policy reform by extending paternity leave to 14–30 days. Furthermore, integrating a leave allowance scheme into the national social security system is necessary to mitigate the financial burden on corporations and ensure inclusive family resilience.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the continuing underrepresentation of female ʿulamāʾ in leadership positions within religious fields, a condition sustained by the deeply entrenched patriarchal culture embedded in religious traditions. It aims to examine the process through which the leadership authority of female ʿulamāʾ is constructed through the interaction of habitus, capital, field, and identity negotiation. Employing a qualitative design with an ethnographic approach, the study focuses on four prominent female ʿulamāʾ. The data were analyzed using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of practice in conjunction with intersectionality theory. The findings demonstrate that the leadership of female ʿulamāʾ is constituted through the dynamic interplay of habitus, capital, and field. The various forms of capital possessed by each female ʿulamāʾ operate differently according to the logic governing their respective fields. However, these forms of capital cannot be converted into leadership authority unless female ʿulamāʾ successfully negotiate the multiple intersecting identities they embody, particularly those related to gender and marital status.
