Abstract

The sea transport’s that guarantees the safety of shipping for commercial ships requires a well-integrated ship operation management system, to minimize the risk of hazards that can be arise such as sunken ship, collisions, aground, fires on board. The safety management system (SMK3) can be used as a way to prevent work accidents caused by worker behavior through a safety culture. Required all parties concerned, to implement of the ISM Code is intended to generate and maintain safety motivation in safety concern in shipping industry. Scope of problem in this study is to measure the influence of safety culture aspects and safety leadership on safety motivation in the shipping industry, especially safety behavior on ships. This study aims to determine the effect of safety culture and safety behavior on work safety (safe operation) on commercial ships. Results of this research can be produce solutions to reduce the number of ship accidents on both national and international shipping. The type of research in this study is correlational research.and empirical study that proof the influence of safety culture, safety leadership and safety motivation on shipping workers, as formulated in the hypothesis. The processed data obtained through data collection in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is the instrument quality test, regression analysis, fit model test and hypothesis testing. The results of the recommendations that researchers propose are, increasing the implementation of safety culture in shipping companies, regular training to improve safety management at the company level and training in safety leadership models need to be improved in the shipping sector.

Abstract

This research discusses the role of tallyman in supporting the smooth loading and unloading activities at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang. The main problem in this study is to determine the role of tallyman in supporting the smooth running of loading and unloading activities at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang and and how influential the role of tallyman is in supporting the smooth running of loading and unloading activities at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the tallyman in supporting the smooth loading and unloading activities at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang and to determine the effect of the role of the tallyman in supporting the smooth running of loading and unloading activities at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang. This type of research is causal associative with a quantitative approach. The data collection method consists of three ways, namely: observation, questionnaires, documentation. The samples in this study were employees of 2 loading and unloading companies and a company using tallyman services operating at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang with a total sample of 51 respondents. The instrument validation test was carried out by using correlation techniques (statistical product and service solutions and the instrument reliability test using Alpha Crombach which was calculated using SPSS version 19. The test results with SPSS 19 obtained that the regression coefficient value has a positive direction and the value of t count = 11.480 with a significance level of 0.000. By using a significance limit of 0.05, the significance value is 0.000, 0.05. Meanwhile, from the results of statistical calculations using SPSS 19, the Adjustered R2 value is 0.723.This means that 72.3% of the smooth loading and unloading activities can be affected by tallyman while the rest amounted to 27.7% influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Sendang Sikucing is one of the fishing villages located in Rowosari Subdistrict, Kendal Regency. Sendang Sikucing villagers rely only on fish catches, fish catches are not sold at the local Fish Auctioneer (TPI) because they have been tied to middlemen or inhabited the ijon system. This is very detrimental to both the fishermen themselves and reduce the Regional Native Income (PAD). The purpose of this research is to find out how far business knowledge and business behavior to the level of welfare of the fishing community in sendang sikucing village Rowosari District Kendal. Sendang Sikucing residents have a weak economic background and do not have their own capital, so each will go to sea they have to borrow capital to the middleman with the guarantee of fish produced must be sold to middlemen with the guarantee of fish. This research is quantitative research emphasizes the analysis on numerical data processed by statistical methods that examine the factors that occur and the results of the study will describe about "The Influence of Business Knowledge and Business Behavior on The Welfare of Fishermen in Sendang Sikucing Kendal". The conclusion obtained in the study is that the initial hypothesis is very contrary to the research conducted, because the fishing community in Sendang Sikucing village has above average income, business knowledge and business behavior has been applied in this village, because the catch of fish has been managed by themselves has also set aside the results obtained in anticipation if they do not go to sea.

Abstract

Radio detection and Ranging (radar) as a Navigation equipment for ships above 300 GT has been regulated in the Convention Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) chapter V, while in table A-II / 1 of the Standard of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), regarding the competency standards of seafarers in carrying out duties to watch safe navigation using Radar and ARPA. The most common situation is a meeting of two ships, which to avoid collision according to the Collision Regulation (Colreg). The risk of collision of a ship is the fastest settlement can be determined based on the Distance Closest of Point Approach (DCPA). When the value is less than the desired ship security domain, the right of way is regulated by International Regulation for Preventing Collision at Sea (P2TL). Among the clauses in Colregs rule 9, a ship if sailing in the direction of a narrow channel or waterway must sail as close as possible to the outer boundary of the shipping channel which lies on its starboard side as long as it is safe and can be implemented to avoid the danger of collision of another ship in the narrow channel. The problems in this study lie in the competency of ship officers on the use of radar navigation devices when use in narrow channel and the measures taken to prevent risk of collisions in accordance with the Collision Regulations. The research aims to explain the role of Radar on board ships when navigate in narrow channel safely and to explain the actions that must be taken to prevent collision hazards. Qualitative research that has analytic descriptive characteristics. The population in this study were all deck officers on ships belonging to PT Pelni. It is hoped that this research can produce a solution to reduce the incidence of ship accidents on both national and international shipping

Abstract

E-learning is learning by utilizing information technology as a learning media, E-learning can be done by online or offline. Polimarin has a lot of information technology-based equipment that is used as a learning media to improve student or also called cadets competence. Many variables has affect the level of success of cadets in learning and achieving the competencies required by the seafarers' competency standards. In this analysis, the aim is to determine the influence of Knowledge, Attitude and Skill on the Competence of Polimarin cadets, especially the Nautics study program, so that both teachers and polimarin institutions can increase what variables have a strong influence on competence. The method used in this research is to use the quantitative approach method of multiple linear regression with SPSS-19 software as an analysis tool. The questionnaire was given to cadets for the 4th semester of the Nautics study program who will immediately carry out marine practice to assess the competence of cadets who have carried out learning in the Simulator. The results of this study, the knowledge variable has a significant influence on the competence of 0.274 or 27.7%, for the skill variable affects significantly by 0.350 or 35% on the competence of cadets, while the attitude variable has an influence of 0.113 or 11.3% on the variable competence. From this it can be concluded that the skill variable has the greatest influence on the competence of cadets, followed by the variable knowledge as the number two influence. And the last is the attitude variable that affects the competence of cadets in the Polimarin Nautical Study Program.
