This study was conducted by using experimental research with factorial design 2X2. The data were analyzed by using Two-Way ANOVA. Based on the analysis, there were found that (1) CSR and REAP strategy significantly affect students’ achievement on reading comprehension, students’ achievement on reading comprehension taught by using CSR is higher than that of the students’ taught by using REAP; (2)the achievement on reading comprehension of the students with reflective cognitive style is higher than that of the students with impulsive cognitive style; and (3) there is an interaction between teaching strategies and cognitive style on students’ reading comprehension achievement. It showed that students who read with reflective cognitive style got higher result than students who read with impulsive cognitive style if they were taught by CSR, and students who read with reflective cognitive style got higher  result than students who read with impulsive reflective style if they were taught by REAP. The study was conducted to 28 students in fourth semester of English Department of UNIMED Medan. Since the study was a qualitative research, the data were analyzed qualitatively by means of observation, questionnaire, Think Aloud Protocols (TAP) and interview. The questions in questionnaire and interview were based on Chammot’s and O’Malley’s. As findings, the data analysis shows the degree of application metacognitive strategies. The students’ application is low since they only applied some parts of sub-categories in metacognitive strategies as their habit in doing their listening task. They often lose their concentration while they are listening to the speakers. They cannot write down the sentences that were uttered by the speakers and write down the unuttered ones. They cannot comprehend the listening well and it makes them feel worry, doubt, nervous and others negative feeling. Based on the results, some implications and suggestions for future research are discussed. Keywords: Listening comprehension; Listening strategies; Metacognition; Metacognitive Strategies

Abstract

This study addresses the translation of passive voice in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban into Bahasa Indonesia. The study was based on descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected by applying documentary techniques. There were three chapters taken as the source of the data. They were chapters 1, 8 and 15. The findings indicated that there were two types of passive voices as a product of passive voices’ translation in Bahasa Indonesia. The passive voice retained as passive one in TL was more dominantly translated into passive voice type one than type two in TL. It caused the use of prefix di+verb base, prefix di+verb base suffix i, and prefix di +verb base+ suffix+ kan are able to represent the meaning of the SL literally and culturally. The changing of English passive voice into Bahasa Indonesia active voice when they were translated indicated that the translator has attempted to find the closest natural equivalent of the source language in aspect of grammar, style, and cultural value. In essence naturalization rate of an expression is a matter of looking for matches in level lexical categories, grammatical categories, semantic, and cultural context.   Key words: translation, passive voice, English, Bahasa Indonesia.
