Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (2442-8485) & (2460-6316), well-known as GRAMATIKA, is an international forum for original research focused on identities as local contexts, like an identity in linguistics, identity in literature, and identity in language education in global and local contexts, especially in Indonesia. These may include but are not limited to various fields, such as we are interested in interdisciplinary studies examining how issues of linguistics, literature, and education in language influence individual and community identities. In order to publish in GRAMATIKA, a study must have an overview of previous research or theoretical concepts that are packaged to justify the novelty/uniqueness of this study and central focus on local, foreign, minority, heritage, or indigenous languages (or non-standard dialects) and their intersection with either identity and/or education in language, linguistics and literature. We welcome a variety of topics, theoretical orientations, and methodological approaches (both qualitative and quantitative). Abstract

Youtube has become an online protest media that is used to trigger and escalate conflicts in various countries. This study explains illocutionary speech acts in the comments on the Palestinian conflict news on the Al-Jazeera Youtube channel. This type of qualitative research takes 5 news reports of the attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque complex by the Israeli military published on May 10, 2021, as data sources. Data were collected through internet archive documentation techniques and listening techniques without engaging in conversation. The data that has been classified on the data card was then analyzed by the matching method following the stages of qualitative analysis. The researchers found 720 illocutionary speech acts consisting of 4 types: representative, directive, expressive, and commissive. Representative speech acts were found in 25 utterances (4%), a directive in 320 utterances (44%), expressive in 282 utterances (39%), and commissive in 93 utterances (13%). From a function perspective, illocutionary utterances in the data source contain the functions of stating, inviting, pleading, demanding, condolence, anger, criticizing, promising, and threatening. The types and functions of illocutionary speech acts found were closely related to the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. From these utterances, the speakers try to mobilize cyberactivism to generate public resistance against the Israeli occupation.

Abstract

This study is aimed at describing the speech acts of the request of fish traders as buyers to fishermen as sellers at  fish auctions (Tempat Pelelangan Ikan/TPI) at Carocok Port, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The objectives of the study are to identify the modes and the types of requests used by fish traders in the fish auction of Carocok  Port. The research is qualitatively conducted.  The data were collected by using the observational  method with note-taking, recording, and interviewing. 21 informants, 8 fishermen, 10 retailers,  and  3 housewives were interviewed to dig information about the reasons for using a certain way of making the request. The analysis was done by determining the criteria of speech acts of the request (Kissine, 2013) (Ike Revita, 2008). The result of the analysis is descriptively done. The percentage was used to identify the number of occurrences of a certain type. After analyzing the data, it is found that the declarative and imperative mode is used more than interrogative and exclamative.  Speech acts of a direct request appear more dominant than indirect ones. This implies that the speech acts of the request of fish traders tend to be straightforward, in line with the firmness of bidding the price.

Abstract

The Covid-19 issue has become an issue highlighted across the world's media in recent months. In this case, the public needs correct and credible information to prevent wider transmission. One way to do this is by using Banners that attract people's attention. This paper aims to describe the role of the Covid -19 Banners in increasing public awareness of the emergence of Covid-19 by using a sociolinguistic perspective. The study found that Banners are an important way to reduce the number of Covid-19 emergencies because it is seen as an emergency social warning that the public believes in. The emergence of the Covid-19 Banners presented in many languages aims to make a closer approach to the target community so that it functions properly. These Banners are made so that we can use them to deliver particular messages to the addressee. The method used is descriptive qualitative, where the researchers used contextual techniques to consider social, situational, and cultural aspects background. After being analyzed, those Banners brought at least five functions, informational, expressive, directive, aesthetic, and phatic functions. Those functions are well discussed here by referring to each social context it is attached. The analysis then goes to its sociolinguistics aspects. The use of Javanese covid-19 Banners here aims to create a bonding between Banners makers and the addressee, for those belonging to a certain speech community will feel that these Banners content are worth noticing

Abstract

Abstract

Apologies are usually made by someone if they make a mistake. However, apologies for the speech community in Java are not only done after the speaker has made a mistake for a speech or action taken to the speaker, sometimes before doing or telling something that is considered wrong or taboo. In the Javanese speaking community, apologizing tends to be stated in advance even though what is actually said or done is not necessarily wrong. The focus of this research is the speech act form apologizing to the Javanese community in the area of Beringin Village, Lakarsantri District, Surabaya City. This study has a qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnopragmatic design. Research data in the form of situations, events, and communicative actions containing apologies obtained from 46 research subjects through observation and in-depth interviews. The data analysis method is the equivalent and split method with techniques for direct elements, such as missing techniques, dressing techniques, and expansion techniques. The results of this study: (1) the form of speech to apologize is different in modes and components; (2) The form of apologizing is componentially an open form, but in expression, in the same sentence, components that indicate the level of sincerity or other purposes are also inserted other than for the purpose of apologizing.
