Abstract

This study examines Abdurrahman Wahid's views on pluralism in Islam through a thematic hadith approach. Using a qualitative literature method, it analyzes Wahid's thoughts and relevant hadith texts. The findings show that Wahid sees pluralism as an essential Islamic teaching that promotes respect for diversity and fair treatment without discrimination. He emphasized religious freedom as a fundamental human right, aligning with la ikraha fid-din (no compulsion in religion). Wahid also advocated for protecting non-Muslim rights and fostering equality by interpreting Islam inclusively as rahmatan lil 'alamin (a blessing for the universe). His initiatives, such as recognizing Confucianism as an official religion in Indonesia, aimed at building a tolerant society. Wahid connected pluralism with universal values like justice, compassion, and brotherhood (ukhuwah insaniyah), rejecting exclusivism and urging Muslims to prioritize shared human values over religious differences. The novelty of this study lies in its thematic hadith analysis of Wahid’s pluralism, revealing how Islamic teachings support religious freedom, justice, and equality. It also highlights the application of these values in Indonesia’s social policies and discourse. The findings recommend strengthening inclusive Islamic discourse in education and da'wah to instill pluralism. Additionally, social policies should further protect minority rights and enhance regulations promoting justice and equality, fostering harmony in a multicultural society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal factors that influence the decision of victims of domestic violence (DV) to choose divorce rather than criminal law. In addition, this study evaluates the implementation of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (UU PKDRT) in providing protection to victims. The method used in this study is field research with a normative legal and normative theological approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, while data analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive methods to understand how the law is implemented in cases of divorce due to DV. The results of the study indicate that victims of DV prefer divorce because of the long criminal law process, minimal legal support for victims, and social pressure that considers DV as a family matter. The main obstacles in accessing justice include bias from law enforcement officers, limited evidence of non-physical violence, and lack of protection facilities such as safe houses. The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the role of judges in deciding cases of DV divorce and identifying the need for legal reform to be more in favor of victims. Recommendations for future research include increasing the capacity of legal officers, educating the public about victims' rights, and integrating legal and psychosocial services to support victims in obtaining justice.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Religious Education in shaping the character of law students, emphasizing the urgent need for them to acquire not only intellectual competence but also moral integrity grounded in religious values. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving students and lecturers of Religious Education courses. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation applied to ensure validity. The findings show that Religious Education significantly contributes to four key values: honesty, responsibility, justice, and multicultural awareness. Honesty underpins academic and professional integrity, while responsibility develops discipline and accountability. Justice provides an ethical orientation beyond formal law, and multicultural awareness fosters tolerance and inclusivity. Together, these values form the ethical foundation required for integrity-based legal professionalism. This research highlights that Religious Education is not merely a normative subject but a transformative instrument for character formation. It suggests that Religious Education curricula should be systematically integrated with legal ethics, multiculturalism, and contemporary challenges to prepare law graduates who are not only intellectually competent but also morally grounded professionals

Abstract

The role of language editing in students’ language comprehension is becoming increasingly important. Reading and writing are the primary activities in language learning, and with proper language editing, students can enhance their understanding of the language and develop their language skills. This study aims to enhance students’ language comprehension by examining the role and implications of language editing. This study uses qualitative literature research, with data sources such as books and journal articles, employing a documentary approach, and is analyzed using descriptive or analytical techniques. The results of this study show that language editing enhances students’ language comprehension by improving grammar, expanding vocabulary, clarifying the relationship between vocabulary and meaning, and improving students’ communication

Abstract

This study examines the genealogy of radical ideology in the 20th century, focusing on its development, changes in radical thinking, and the factors that influenced its evolution. In a century full of conflict, revolution, and global change, radical ideologies such as communism and fascism played a central role in shaping social and political order. This study explores the genealogy of radical ideology, including its peak period, when communism and fascism emerged as dominant ideologies. We also reveal changes in radical thinking throughout the 20th century, including the adaptation of these ideologies to historical events and social changes. In addition, this study analyzes the social, political, economic, and technological factors that influenced the development of radical thinking. The results of this study have important implications for understanding the history and socio-political dynamics of the 20th century. In addition, this study is relevant to addressing the challenges of radicalism in the contemporary era by providing insights into the development of radical ideology in the future. This study contributes to the study of ideology, history, and global politics. It can serve as an important reference source for researchers, academics, and policymakers interested in understanding radical ideology and its dynamics of development

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the differences between conventional and Islamic banking systems in Indonesia in responding to the demands of modern society for justice and transparency. The results of the study indicate that public interest in Islamic banking has increased significantly, primarily because its profit-sharing system is more transparent and equitable compared to conventional bank interest, which is often complex and opaque. However, the study also reveals unfair practices that still occur in several conventional banks, such as hidden fees, confusing interest calculations, and discriminatory treatment of small customers. Through a quantitative approach using OJK data analysis and customer surveys, this study provides concrete solutions for banks to enhance justice and transparency, including product simplification, technology adoption, and internal policy reform. The research findings emphasize the importance of transforming the conventional banking system by adopting principles of honesty and openness, and the need to strengthen regulations to protect customers. In conclusion, the development of banking in Indonesia must be directed towards creating a more inclusive, fair, and transparent system to meet the needs of a modern society that is increasingly critical and financially literate.

Abstract

The Reading interest index in Indonesia is very low, at only 0.001%, meaning that only one person out of every thousand residents is considered an avid reader. One way to respond to this data is to improve the Reading infrastructure within the community, such as by ensuring librarians have the explicit knowledge needed regarding library facilities. The purpose of this research is to analyze the issues faced by librarians in increasing reading interest among the people of Majene. This type of research is descriptive. The approach used is qualitative. Data sources consist of primary and secondary data. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documents. Data were analyzed using the principles of Miles and Huberman, which comprise three methods: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research findings indicate that librarians in enhancing people’s reading interest in Majene face several comprehensive problems, including limited facilities and infrastructure, a lack of book collections that meet user needs, low public Reading interest, and insufficient strategies for socializing library services. As a practical implication of this research, the local government needs to place greater emphasis on libraries by allocating a larger budget to procure book collections, improve facilities and infrastructure, and train librarians.

Abstract

This study examines Nurkholis Madjid’s views on Islamic civilization in Indonesia. Cak Nur is a phenomenal yet controversial thinker whose ideas are enlightening and thought-provoking. The objectives of this paper are, first, to analyze Cak Nur’s intellectual development. Second, to analyze Cak Nur’s Islamic ideas. Third, to understand his ideas in the context of Indonesian Islamic civilization. This research is library research using historical, sociological, anthropological, and theological approaches, as well as content analysis. The results of this research show that, first, Cak Nur’s intellectual development cannot be separated from his experiences and education; his family’s existence greatly influenced the formation of his thinking. Second, in understanding Cak Nur’s Islamic ideas, the researcher used several approaches, including the substance approach, postmodern epistemology, and inductive empiricism. Third, in reconstructing his ideas, the concept of secularization seeks to free society from the purification or sacralization of things that are not in their proper place (desacralization), so that humans can understand and manage worldly life objectively. Secularization encourages society’s progress towards modernization through rationalization, as a tangible manifestation of Islam’s command that humans use reason and science to understand the laws of nature. In addition, Cak Nur seeks to reinforce Islamic values as a universal moral foundation that can contribute to national progress. Education is a means of shaping and creating quality human resources. Thus, Paramadina University has become a scientific laboratory that emphasizes rationality, openness, and ethical values that can shape a civilized generation.

Abstract

This article examines the relevance of Max Weber’s work ethic in contemporary capitalism, focusing on the transformation of work values in the digital and globalization era. In The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, Weber argues that modern capitalism developed from the internalization of Protestant religious values, which emphasize discipline, rationality, and efficiency in work. This article examines how the work ethic, which initially supported industrial capitalism, has undergone significant transformations amid the gig economy and flexible work arrangements. Using a qualitative, discursive approach, this article also identifies a shift in the work paradigm, from a high-productivity orientation to a search for work-life balance and individual well-being. Furthermore, this article analyzes the phenomena of burnout and capitalist expectations of workers, as well as alternative movements such as slow work and the post-work society, which offer resistance to an increasingly exploitative work system. In conclusion, although Weber predicted that capitalism would lead to an “iron cage” of rationality, the contemporary world shows the potential to build more balanced and humane working relationships by adapting the spirit of capitalism to the social needs and welfare of workers
