Abstract

This study examines the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the University Student Engagement Inventory (USEI) among santri university students living in Islamic boarding schools. Using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the multidimensional structure of the USEI—comprising behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement—was affirmed with satisfactory reliability. The findings align with previous international validations, demonstrating the instrument's applicability within a unique socio-religious context. Notably, affective engagement was more prominent in this population, reflecting the influence of communal and religious environments on student motivation. The study contributes a culturally sensitive tool for measuring student engagement in Indonesian higher education, while acknowledging limitations related to sample generalizability and self-report measures. Future research is recommended to explore longitudinal effects and expand validation across diverse academic settings.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the core dimensions underlying academic resilience through exploratory confirmatory factor analysis. A total of 27 items representing psychological aspects such as perseverance, self-regulation, self-efficacy, and social support were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with Varimax rotation and Kaiser normalization. The results revealed ten principal components with significant factor loadings on several items, with rotation converging in 21 iterations. These components represent essential aspects of academic resilience, including adaptability, emotional control, achievement motivation, and social support. The findings provide empirical evidence for developing a valid and reliable instrument for measuring academic resilience within the context of higher education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Learning motivation plays a vital role in achieving optimal learning outcomes. This study aimed to examine the effect of educational-themed films on enhancing students’ learning motivation. The research involved 14 psychology students from Malikussaleh University who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental group was given an intervention using Nussa and Rara video media, while the control group was not. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental group (10.60) was higher than that of the control group (9.30). The significance value obtained was 0.015 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in the gain scores between the two groups. These findings suggest that educational-themed films have a positive effect on increasing students’ learning motivation and can be used as an alternative media in the learning process to enhance motivation and engagement.
