Isu maritim menjadi fokus utama dunia, hal ini tidak lepas dari bumi kita yang memiliki sekitar 70 persen luas lautan. Jadi penelitian tentang kemaritiman merupakan investasi jangka panjang karena memakan biaya yang banyak dan waktu yang lama, barulah dapat terlihat manfaatnya. Untuk itu, penelitian kemaritiman yang akan berdampak besar harus mendapat perhatian dan dukungan dana yang besar. Investasi untuk penelitian kelautan dapat berupa peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia penelitian, pemutakhiran infrastruktur penelitian dan pembiayaan kegiatan penelitian. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan inovasi dan sinergi untuk menghasilkan penelitian teknologi maritim oleh perguruan tinggi, lembaga penelitian, dan industri yang dapat berkontribusi pada masalah ini. Selain itu, Jurnal Taman Maritim bertujuan untuk menjawab apakah penelitian tentang teknologi maritim oleh universitas, lembaga penelitian, dan industri dapat berkontribusi pada masalah Maritim Dunia. Kontribusi tersebut diharapkan dapat bertukar informasi, pengalaman, pemikiran dan juga untuk memperkuat jaringan kerjasama antar institusi, institusi, dan industri dalam skala nasional/internasional. Sehingga terjadi komunikasi ilmiah antara peneliti, industri, dan pendidikan. Fokus dan Ruang Lingkup Taman Maritim adalah teknologi dan kehidupan masyarakat yaitu Desain Bangunan Kelautan dan Perikanan. Manajemen Transportasi dan Aplikasi Teknologi Pelayaran, Energi Laut Terbarukan, Material Laut Canggih, Manajemen Pelabuhan, Pengembangan SDM Pesisir, Bencana Lingkungan Maritim, Teknik Oseanografi, serta Sistem dan Kontrol Laut.

Abstract

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state welding technique that can produce high-quality joints without defects that commonly occur in liquid welding. However, FSW has limitations in underwater applications due to the friction between the tool and the material that causes a decrease in heat efficiency and shear force. To overcome this problem, this study proposes an underwater welding (UW) system with the FSW method on 316L stainless steel exposed to seawater. This UW-FSW system uses a high-speed rotating tool surrounded by an inert gas shroud to prevent direct contact between the tool and seawater. The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of this UW-FSW system in terms of mechanical properties, microstructure, and corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steel joints. The results of this study show that the UW-FSW system can produce joints with better tensile strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance than conventional FSW. This is due to the rapid cooling, reduction of oxidation, and formation of a thicker passive layer on the joint surface. This study provides a contribution to the development of environmentally friendly and efficient underwater welding technology.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology and the emergence of Industry 4.0 have brought new challenges to the field of shipping studies. To prepare students for this challenge, it is necessary to develop a curriculum that is responsive to the changing needs of the industry. This study aims to explore the development of a higher education curriculum for maritime studies at the Vocational Shipping Studies Faculty at Hang Tuah University that is responsive to the challenges of Industry 4.0. This study uses a qualitative research design, using a review of relevant literature and documents. The objective of research is the higher education curriculum for maritime studies at the Faculty of Vocational Sailing Studies at Hang Tuah University. Data obtained through review of relevant documents from experts. The findings show that responsive curriculum development requires a thorough understanding of industry needs and expectations, as well as a commitment to continuously improve and adapt. Based on these findings, this research proposes a framework for the development of a responsive higher education curriculum for maritime studies that incorporates elements such as industry collaboration, competency-based learning, and integration of technology and digital skills. This research has important implications for institutions seeking to develop curricula that are responsive to changing industry needs, and can contribute to the development of a skilled and competent workforce in the field of shipping studies

Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the seaport operational safety of Apapa port Lagos. Primary data were collected using survey for the analysis. The study utilized Logit model and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis to analyse the data collected from` the seaport. In running the analysis, SPSS software version 24.0 was used to analyse the data. The result from the Logit model shows that there is a high significant relationship between the dependent and independent variables tested in the study. This means that there is need for improvement in the area of safety at the port. Furthermore, the multi-criteria decision analysis result also shows various sections and their corresponding weights and ranks with a level of improvement that will be help to step up or enhance the safety variables during port operation. The study recommends that the seaport should be carrying out constant safety study from time to time to increase the safety and security levels of the seaport as recommended by the IMO

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the economic and environmental feasibility of using biodiesel as an alternative fuel for fishing vessels in Indonesia. This research uses cost-benefit analysis, greenhouse gas emission analysis, and sensitivity analysis methods to evaluate the impact of biodiesel use on economic and environmental aspects. The results show that the use of biodiesel as an alternative fuel for fishing vessels in Indonesia is economically feasible, as it can save fuel costs, reduce dependence on imported diesel, and increase the added value of fishery products. The use of biodiesel is also environmentally feasible, as it can reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and other pollutant emissions generated by fishing vessels. The economic and environmental feasibility of using biodiesel as an alternative fuel for fishing vessels in Indonesia is quite stable and not sensitive to changes in conditions that may occur in the future. This research provides recommendations for the government, fishery industry, and society to support the development and implementation of biodiesel as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel for fishing vessels in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract: Plates are a very important part of shipbuilding and offshore structures. The reinforced plate is used to withstand loads acting in the axial and bending directions. The structure of the deck or bottom plate exhibits buckling or yielding behavior. Thus, it is very important to analyze the ultimate bearing capacity of a plate structure subjected to compressive loads for safe ship structure design. The material configuration used is the most important aspect in the FPSO structure design criteria. Plates and stiffened plates experience local buckling due to the external load when the hull girder collapsed. The objective of the present study is to analyze the effect of flange and web thickness to the ultimate strength on the FPSO in terms of plate deformation located of the bottom and deck area under compression stages. In this study, the attached plate thickness is varied according to FPSO data and BKI Rule. The stiffened plates element located at the bottom and deck area are modelled by Tee-Bar and Angle-Bar element. The simply supported condition is applied to the model and the anon-liniear Finite Element Method is used for the analysis. The result obtained by NLFEM shows that under tension and compression, the stiffened plate of Tee-Bar model, the deformations are 1,75 mm and 1,8 mm respectively. While for Angle-Bar model the deformation are 12,4 mm and 13 mm under compressing respectively.

Abstract

Abstract: The Port Singapore Authority (PSA) have a big role in sea transportation in Indonesia, whoever average 50 big vessels per day are tendered at the wharf of Singapore port for loading and unloading thousands of containers, so if Singapore port is congested for several hours the impact will make the crowded of sailing schedule for many vessels. Last week suddenly without any announcement Singapore port reported a problem with their port facilities and so their system, therefore many vessels were anchorages for several days about 4-6 days at the outer of the port for waiting time to tender. This accident makes the sea transport system by feeder service Indonesia-Singapore and vice versa re-scheduled. The impact for export-import activities from and to Indonesia was trouble because many can't call on time even omitted.  For several years or starting in 1985 Indonesian Shipping lines depend on Singapore port as an international hub port that will through cargoes to the destination port. They chose Singapore port because there are complete port facilities and a container system, nobody knows that crisis so will bome at Singapore as the biggest port in South East Asia. So now suggested to all of Indonesian shipping and Government to make a new big port as functions like Singapore port as an International hub port.

Abstract

Maritime transportation, a cornerstone of global trade, faces escalating concerns over its environmental impact. This review critically examines sustainable shipping practices, presenting a thorough analysis of environmental initiatives within the maritime industry. The primary objective is to offer a comprehensive overview of measures adopted to mitigate the ecological footprint associated with shipping operations. Commencing with an exploration of the environmental challenges linked to traditional shipping practices, the review underscores issues such as air and water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and the ecological ramifications of ballast water discharge. The urgency to adopt sustainable practices is emphasized in light of tightening regulations and the imperative to address these environmental challenges.
