Abstract

The state and condition of Indonesian teachers have graduallychanged to a better nuance due to the compensation of teacher certificationprogram (TCP). The program has conceivably raised the status of theteachers in social and economic lives. However, the impact of the programon the improvement of overall teacher‘s quality—teaching performance asmandated by Teacher and Lecturer Law remains questionable, and the bigquestion is what and how teachers perceive and act in response to theobjective of the program. The program aims not only to increase theteachers‘ salary, but also to improve the quality of their teachingperformance based on the teacher standard competence, that is pedagogical,personality, social, and professional competences. Therefore, the studyexplore and describe certified EFL teachers‘ perceptions concerning benefitsof the program on thier social and economic lives, improvement and qualityof their teaching practices; perceptions on the ways management ran theprogram; and expectations for better services of the TCP management.

Abstract

Due to the revision of the National Pre-School StandardCurriculum (KSPK) 2017, the strengthening of Science and TechnologySupport and STEM integration early childhood education in Malaysia isnow being aggressively developed in line with national education policies.This case study is conducted to find out how pre-school teachers applyscience process elements in their teaching and learning activities.Observation was carried out on a pre-school teacher during a lesson in oneof the national pre-schools in Tawau. Observation findings show that preschoolteachersunderstandtheneedforearlyscienceeducationthoughtheylackthe knowledge and application of the scientific skills. Therefore, it ishighly recommended for pre-school teachers to improve appropriatepedagogical practices, and support the early process of science in earlychildhood education by contextually emphasizing and linking  their teachingto the 21st century curriculum.

Abstract

Existing study revealed that the children have dynamics spatialsense on objects. One of important mathematics topics that can be related tothe sense-triggering process is the isometric transformation geometryincluding reflection, translation, and rotation. This topic is introduced to thefourth and the fifth graders of elementary school. However, learning processin school tends to lack concern on this students’ readily-triggered ability.There is also insufficient number of hands-on activities experienced by thestudents. It is poor since the hands-on activities can facilitate students’informal knowledge of isometric transformation geometry. Therefore, thistwo cycled design research aims to counter such situation. It was conductedat State Elementary School 001 of Toapaya, Kabupaten Bintan, KepulauanRiau by using RME approach. The subject of the study was the fourthgraders. Malay cloth motif was used as the context of the study through theexploration activities. The results indicated that the activities could triggerstudents’ informal knowledge of: reflection, translation, rotation, constantfactors, and transformation composition.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop high order thinking skillsworkheet in momentum, impulse, and collision topic for senior high schoolThis type of research is Research and Development  follow 4D models,includes : define, design, develop and disseminate. Data collectioninstruments used validation sheets for given to 5 validator, Aspects assessedinclude graphic, presentation, language, and the contents of workheet. Basedon the result of data analysis showed that all aspects got average score in therange of 3.4 to 4 with categories of  very high. Thus, high order thinkingskills was valid. For the purposes of testing the worksheet is given on 68students. to measure the effectiveness of worksheet used  Higher LevelThinking Ability Test that amounts to 12 items. Based on the result of dataanalysis indicate, There is difference of higher order thinking skill ofstudents who use HOTS worksheet than who are not use HOTS worksheet,where the average Higher Order Thinking Skill on students who use HOTSworksheet higher

Abstract

The research aims to develop interactive multimedia basedLectora Inspire on science chemistry subjects for SMP/MTs. The researchmethod using the design of research and development (Research andDevelopment) with a model Plomp, which consists of four phases; initialinvestigation, design, realization and construction, and validation, test andrevision. The research was conducted at the University of Riau FKIP. Theobject of research is interactive multimedia Lectora Inspire. Data collectedby validating based interactive multimedia Lectora Inspire to 3 validator(media expert and subject matter experts) and limited trial by users thatteachers and students in SMP 4 and SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. Theresults showed an average score of validator 98.20% . Score of limited trialbased on questionnaire responses of teachers and students each obtained anaverage score of 98.78% and 97.03%. From the result of the average scoreof the validation and limited trial of interactive multimedia based LectoraInspire for chemistry subjects for SMP / MTs valid and can be used as alearning media.

Abstract

In studying geosciences, students sometimes face some problemsbecause occasionally they are not able to visualize the earth in their minds.This difficulty is increasingly moreover, if it concerns the distance andheight of the topography of the earth, as well as the earth and its relationshipto all aspects of life. In this study, the use of google earth as the learningmedia has been examined to help students understanding in learninggeosciences. Students were given guidelines of google earth usage and thenstudents were asked to create a mini project in terms of using of googleearth. After that students were given a questioner that is questioned aboutunderstanding of the learned material with the help of google earth. Theresults show that almost all students are fully aware of what they are doing.They also gave an average score of 3.8 (scale 4) in terms of the google earthutilities in learning geosciences. It can be concluded that google earth is ableto provide a deeper understanding to the students in studying the concept ofphysics of earth.

Abstract

This article discusses the violation implicature of cooperativeprinciple of discourse on corruption of Indonesia Lawyers Club. The appliedtheories are: (1) Searle’s speech acts (1969); (2) Austin’s Locutionary,Illocutionary, and Perlocutionary (1962); (3) Grice’s conversationalimplicatures and cooperative principles (in Leech,1993); (4) Levinson’spragmatics and semantic deviation  (1983), Parker’s pragmatics (in Rahardi,2005;48); (5) Spencer and Wilson’s relevance theory (in Rahardi, 2010).Data were gathered by means of listening and recording. The speeches wereanalyzed by employing the maxim violation and implicatures theories. Theviolation of cooperative principle implies (1) the speakers fully comprehendthe speech, (2) Government has insufficient budget to pay the judges ofregional anti-corruption court, (3) Government seems skeptical about theregional judge selection test, (4) The speakers are fully confident that theyposses capability of eradicating corruption, (5) Both payment and allowanceof the regional judge of anti-corruption court do not receive scholarlyattention that have made difficult for them to work as  law enforcers and asjustice enforcers, (6) Some negative effects emerged by virtue of the poorplanning of the establishment of the regional court, (7) The anti-corruptioncourt lost dignity; The role of Judicial commission is not effective inproviding guidances to the judges, (9) All elements have committedcorruption like termites keep encircling nation, (10) issues on corruption arenot seriously discussed (11) regional elections indirectly trigger corruption.

Abstract

This paper describes the history-based learning local history,which takes the case of the existence of the Kampar River as local aspects inthe learning of the maritime history in Indonesia. The data obtained throughthe triangulation by collecting interviews, observation, documentation studyand  refered to articles, journals, textbooks and data other documents in thelibrary that supported the teaching of history based on local history in theanalyzing of maritime history in Indonesia, then it was investigated anddrawn as a conclusion that the Kampar River was able to be used as thestudy of history in the local context in understanding of the teaching historyin Indonesia related to maritime history. The results in this study show thatfirst, Kampar River is a river that is loaded with historical events of theKingdom of Sriwijaya, The Kingdom of Islamic until the independence ofIndonesia. Second, the existence of Kampar River as a aspect of  emergenceof history / local aspect which is able to be used as information about themaritime historyto the learners. For learning process, it involves localaspects of learners to connect, internalize and develop cooperation inanalyzing of the concept aspects practicely in teaching maritime history. Theconcept of local history-based teaching history is contextually-learninglearning concept that emphasizes the relevance of teaching materials withreal world of learners. The existence of Kampar River is a means emergenceof history / local aspect can be used as information about the maritimehistory to assist in the understanding of teaching maritime history on thelearner, for learning involving local aspects for learners to connect,internalize and develop cooperation in analyzing aspects of the concept topraxis in teaching maritime history. Abstract

Students with difficulty in comprehending conceptual materialsneed media that has powers in organizational, procedural visual, andsupporting creative thinking; all are integrated in a mind-mapping media.This research is aimed to develop a learning design of Introduction toManagement based on mind-mapping media concerning with conceptualmaterials. This is an early phase of research and development activities, inIntroduction to Management class. Data of needs analysis is obtainedthrough survey technique on 38 college students, then followed by literaturestudy and focus group discussions. The result shows that a learning designof Introduction to Management, that highlights conceptual materials, hasconstructed on the basis of mind-mapping media. The design consisted oflearning outcome, stages of preparing mind mapping media, andmeasurement method of effectiveness of the learning designimplementation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a model of leadershipmanagerial competence of head of High School in Padangsidimpuan. Theexpected model can be used as a reference for school supervisors inconducting guidance of managerial competence of head of SMAPadangsidimpuan. This research was done using research and development(R and D) by applying the procedural model. The data of this research areconsisted of (1) qualitative data that was obtained from observation,interview, and documentation of the study and it was analyzed usingdescriptive statistics. (2) quantitative data by using questionnaire. Thequalitative data were analyzed using three ways, ie data reduction, datapresentation, and taking conclusions. The findings of this study are (1) Thecoaching is focused on the administrative aspect and has not yet touched themanagerial competence of the principal of SMA Padangsidimpuan and (2)the coaching process has not been done properly. This research resulted amodel of managerial competence development for the head of SMAPadangsidimpuan consisting of two components, namely (1) theidentification instrument of managerial competence and, (2) the steps ofcoaching the managerial competence of the principal of SMAPadangsidimpuan. This model is equipped with a support system thatincludes a program of leadership managerial competence of senior highschool Padangsidimpuan. The test results show that this model is practicaland effective for use in improving the managerial competence of SMAPadangsidimpuan. How well the model of guiding the managerialcompetence of the principal produced will not mean anything if its use doesnot get support from the parties related to the principal guidance inparticular and general education management. It is therefore necessary tosupport the school superintendent to use this model within thePadangsidimpuan.
