Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of income level, financial literacy, use of social media; on the consumptive behavior of teachers. The total population in this study was 127 civil servant teachers. The sampling technique used Isaac Michael's table with an error rate of 5%, the number of samples in this study was 94 teachers. The process of taking sample data using proportional random sampling technique. Data was obtained by using questionnaires and documentation methods. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The findings in this study are that there is no significant effect of the income level variable on the consumptive behavior of teachers, there is a significant influence of the financial literacy variable and the use of social media on the consumptive behavior of PNS teachers. The level of consumptive behavior is related to the financial literacy of teachers and the use of social media. So that teachers are expected to increase their level of financial literacy and reduce the intensity in using social media to minimize consumptive behavior.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the internalization of Tri-N Tamansiswa Teaching of Primary School Teacher Education Department (PGSD) at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The subjects of this research are the Study Program Chairman, lecturers and college students. As for the research object was the internalization of the Tri-N teaching of Tamansiswa. The data collection was done by observation method, interview and documentation. The research results of shows that the role of the Study Program Chairman is crucial to the internalization of the Tri-N Tamansiswa teaching in strengthening students pedagogical competence. It is because the Study Program Chairman has the authority to make policy in the internalization of Tamansiswa teaching. A pattern or model of the internalization of Tri-N Tamansiswa Teaching is known that derives from the preparation of the vision and the mission continued with the establishment of the study program policy related to the implementation of Tamansiswa teaching and integration of Tamansiswa teaching especially Tri-N in the curriculum, Semester Lesson Plan, and the learning process. In addition, the Tri-N Tamansiswa teaching has also been applied by the lecturer in classroom teaching and learning so it accustoms college students to be teacher candidate who based on Tamansiswa teaching.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of learning tools that can improve students' Mathematical Communication Skills (KKM). Activities that can encourage students to improve KKM have not been designed by the teacher in the learning device properly. This study aims to produce learning tools by applying Problem Based Learning models to improve KKM. This development research used the ADDIE development model with the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results of Syllabus, RPP, LKPD and KKM validation results showed highly valid criteria with percentages of 91.67%, 91.30%, 89.09%, and 87.15%, respectively. Practicality results indicate a very practical criterion with the percentage of small group trials at 95.57%, large group trials at 96.07%, and teacher responses at 96.25%. The effectiveness test results state that KKM of students who use learning tools with PBL models is better than KKM of students who use conventional learning.

Abstract

The ability of students to think critically in mathematics is is still low. The lack of learning tools that are considered to facilitate students' mathematical critical thinking skills is one of the cause it. The purpose of this study was to develop a mathematics learning tool with a quality problem-based learning (PBM) model to facilitate students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The learning tools developed consisted of a syllabus, lesson plans (RPP) and student worksheets (LKPD) on the matrix material for class X SMK. This research was a development research using the Borg and Gall model. The development consists of six stages, namely: 1) research and data collection; 2) planning; 3) development of the initial product draft; 4) initial field trials; 5) revised trial results; and 6) dissemination and implementation. The subject of this research trial was the students of SMK Nurul Falah Pekanbaru. The instrument used was validation instrument for the syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheet. Based on the results of the validation data analysis, it shows that the learning tools developed were very valid. The results of the validation of the syllabus were 85.11; the average RPP score was 86.02; and the average LKPD score was 86.40. The average student response questionnaire to the initial field trial was 85.93 with the very practical category. The learning device developed was valid and practical for use by class X SMK students.

Abstract

This study sought to identify the effect of using alternative evaluation in improving educational outcomes. (Cognitive, psychological, skill) for university courses for students (the scientific research methodology course as a model). To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers used the quasi-experimental method. The sample of the study consisted of (40) students enrolled in the course of scientific research methods at Al- Istiqlal University. They were distributed randomly into two groups: the experimental group used the alternative evaluation.  However, the control group used traditional evaluation. The results of the study showed that there is an effect of using the alternative evaluation in improving the educational outcomes (cognitive, psychological, and skills) of the experimental group students. In light of these results, the researchers recommended a review of current evaluation practices that use traditional tests.  In addition, there is a need to amend the regulations and instructions regulating the evaluation policy in accordance with the university's modernization and developing in line with modern strategies for evaluation, and the use of alternative evaluation tools in evaluating students' work in university courses.

Abstract

This study aimed at (1) finding the types of reference as cohesive device in essays written by the fourth semester students of the English study program Universitas Riau, and (2) calculating the frequency of reference used in essays written by the fourth semester students of the English study program Universitas Riau. Documentation such as written texts was the main technique of collecting the required data. The data were analyzed by using theories from Halliday and Hassan (2013) about references as cohesive devices in the essays written by the students and by giving the percentage on the use of references. The research findings showed that all the types of reference as cohesive devices were used in the essays written by the fourth semester students with the total number of 954 devices. The most frequent reference cohesive devices used by the fourth semester students of the English study program Universitas Riau was personal reference with the percentage of 53.3% followed by demonstrative reference with the percentage of 45.8% and comparative reference with the percentage 0.9%. It could be concluded that Personal reference was the most frequently used because it may refer not only to a particular person or object, but also to any identifiable person.

Abstract

Student dropout in rural area is one of the education problems that being faced by many countries. In this qualitative study, we used global and national documentation to explore and describe in-depth impact of rural teacher salary on rural student dropout in selected four developing countries, namely Azerbaijan, Colombia, Indonesia and South Africa. The data was obtained from the published data of each countries. The result shows that South African rural teachers get the highest salary of USD 2,524, followed by Colombia with USD 626,58, Azerbaijan USD 175 and Indonesia USD. 182.24. The Lowest percentage of rural student dropout in primary level is South Africa and Colombia (3% respectively), Junior High School level is Azerbaijan (8%) and for Senior High School is South Africa (27%). In conclusion it shows that rural teacher salary has negative impact on rural student dropout, but this impact will be more influential by support from many other factors. It is suggested that developing countries should increase rural teachers’ salary as the solution to decrease rural student dropout.

Abstract

The research aims to develop interactive multimedia based Lectora Inspire on science chemistry subjects for SMP/MTs. The research method using the design of research and development (Research and Development) with a model Plomp, which consists of four phases; initial investigation, design, realization and construction, and validation, test and revision. The research was conducted at the University of Riau FKIP. The object of research is interactive multimedia Lectora Inspire. Data collected by validating based interactive multimedia Lectora Inspire to 3 validator (media expert and subject matter experts) and limited trial by users that teachers and students in SMP 4 and SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. The results showed an average score of validator 98.20% . Score of limited trial based on questionnaire responses of teachers and students each obtained an average score of 98.78% and 97.03%. From the result of the average score of the validation and limited trial of interactive multimedia based Lectora Inspire for chemistry subjects for SMP / MTs valid and can be used as a learning media.

Abstract

Chemical teaching materials don’t support the learning of nursing vocational competencies, so it is necessary to analyze the suitability of chemical content with nursing vocational content. This research aims to reconstruct elements of the chemical curriculum relevant to the competence of nursing vocational schools. The research design used is Developmental Research with the stages of design, development, and evaluation. The research was conducted at SMK Nusa Bhakti Bandung and SMKN 1 Koto Besar (Dharmasraya Regency). The study involved two chemistry education experts, six nursing vocational teachers, and six chemistry teachers in nursing. The research instruments used are formulation formats in the form of KD, chemical content, knowledge dimensions, learning strategies, and learning evaluations that have been validated. The data of the research results was analyzed in a qualitative descriptive way then used as input for product improvement. The results showed that design of KD, chemical content, knowledge dimensions, learning strategies, and learning evaluation developed have good relevance to the demands of nursing vocational competencies. Viewed from the validation of teachers in nursing vocational schools obtained good validation results.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the role of empowerment Science Teachers Association (MGMP IPA) in improving the Professional competence of science teachers in the city of Dumai, Indonsia. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The population of this study were all teachers in MGMP IPA Dumai. The research sample was 70 teachers who were members of the MGMP IPA Dumai. Data collection technique were using questionaires and test. The result showed that average professional ability of the teachers was 74 in good categories, pedagogical average was 61 in the moderate category and PCK was 56 in the moderate category. This shows that MGMP IPA Dumai has not fully played a role in increasing the professional competence of teachrers.
