Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of profitability and firm size on firm value, with dividend policy serving as a moderating variable, among non-cyclical consumer sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2023 period. The study employed a quantitative research approach using secondary data obtained from the companies’ annual financial reports. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select companies that met the predetermined criteria, resulting in a final sample of 26 companies with a total of 130 observations over five years. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS version 3.2.9. The findings indicate that profitability has a positive and significant effect on firm value, suggesting that companies with stronger financial performance are more likely to achieve higher market valuations. Firm size also has a positive and significant effect on firm value, implying that larger companies tend to gain greater investor confidence due to their operational stability and growth potential. Conversely, dividend policy has a negative and significant effect on firm value, indicating that higher dividend distributions may reduce investors’ expectations regarding future business expansion. Furthermore, the moderation analysis reveals that dividend policy is unable to strengthen or weaken the relationship between profitability and firm value, as well as the relationship between firm size and firm value. These findings contribute to the financial management literature by providing empirical evidence on the determinants of firm value and demonstrating the limited moderating role of dividend policy in non-cyclical consumer sector companies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability and liquidity on firm value, with firm growth serving as a moderating variable, in consumer non-cyclicals sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2023 period. The study employed a quantitative research approach using secondary data obtained from the annual financial reports of listed companies. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select companies that met the predetermined criteria, resulting in a final sample of 52 companies with a total of 156 observations over the three-year period. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach with SmartPLS version 3.2.9. The findings reveal that profitability has a positive and significant effect on firm value, indicating that companies with higher profitability tend to achieve higher market valuations. Conversely, liquidity has a negative and significant effect on firm value, suggesting that excessive liquidity may be perceived as inefficient asset utilization by investors. Furthermore, firm growth does not have a significant effect on firm value. The moderation analysis also demonstrates that firm growth is unable to strengthen or weaken the relationship between profitability and firm value, as well as between liquidity and firm value. These findings provide empirical evidence regarding the determinants of firm value and contribute to the financial management literature by highlighting the limited moderating role of firm growth in consumer non-cyclicals companies.

Abstract

Knowledge and attitudes regarding nutrition are important factors that influence adolescents' health. Therefore, nutrition education is an effective strategy to improve individuals' understanding and encourage healthy nutritional practices. This study aimed to examine the effect of video-based nutrition education on knowledge and attitudes toward balanced nutrition among Grade X-2 students at SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design without a control group. Data were collected over a two-week period through two measurements: a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after the intervention. The study involved 32 participants. Data were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the mean knowledge score increased from 11.88 before the intervention to 13.56 after the intervention. Similarly, the mean attitude score increased slightly from 68.06 to 69.06. Statistical analysis indicated a significant effect of the intervention on knowledge (ρ = 0.001, p < 0.05), whereas no significant effect was found on attitudes (ρ = 0.249, p > 0.05). It can be concluded that video-based nutrition education significantly improved students' knowledge of balanced nutrition but did not significantly influence their attitudes. Future studies are recommended to explore the use of other educational media to enhance both knowledge and attitudes toward balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) remain a global health problem, including among adolescents who are vulnerable due to limited knowledge about STIs and suboptimal preventive behavior. Globally, STIs contribute to approximately 2.3 million deaths. In Indonesia, the number of new STI cases has reached 45,000 cases. In Gorontalo City, STI cases among adolescents increased from 370 cases in 2023 to 515 cases in 2024. Video-based education is considered effective because it delivers information through audiovisual media, making it easier for adolescents to understand. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of video-based education on adolescents' knowledge and preventive behavior regarding STIs at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Kota Gorontalo. This quantitative pre-experimental study used a one-group pretest-posttest design with 31 twelfth-grade students selected via total sampling. Knowledge and behavior questionnaires were used as research instruments. The collected data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 8.52 to 11.46, while the behavior score increased from 32.55 to 38.94. The p-values for knowledge and behavior were both 0.000 (p<0.05). In conclusion, video-based education had a significant effect on adolescents' knowledge and preventive behavior regarding STIs. It is recommended that video-based education be combined with discussions to further enhance adolescents' understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of lifestyle as a moderating variable in the relationship between packaging, taste, and consumers' repurchase intention at Fore Coffee in Gorontalo City. The study adopts a quantitative research approach using primary data collected through an online questionnaire distributed to consumers who had previously purchased Fore Coffee products. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select respondents based on predetermined criteria, resulting in a total sample of 97 respondents. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach with SmartPLS version 3.2.9. The findings reveal that packaging has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, indicating that attractive, functional, and high-quality packaging encourages consumers to make repeat purchases. Taste also has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, suggesting that product quality remains one of the primary determinants of customer loyalty. In addition, lifestyle has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, reflecting that consumers whose lifestyles align with the Fore Coffee brand are more likely to repurchase its products. However, the moderation analysis demonstrates that lifestyle does not significantly strengthen or weaken the relationship between packaging and repurchase intention, nor does it moderate the relationship between taste and repurchase intention. These findings imply that while lifestyle directly influences consumers' intention to repurchase, it does not function as a moderating variable in the relationships examined. The study provides practical implications for businesses in the coffee industry, emphasizing the importance of improving packaging quality and maintaining product taste to encourage repeat purchases.

Abstract

Limboto Lake is a critically threatened lake experiencing declining environmental quality due to sedimentation and heavy metal contamination, including cadmium (Cd). This study aims to identify the Cd content in paddy soil and rice from agricultural fields surrounding the Limboto Lake watershed. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach conducted at three stations (Bolihuangga, Hunggaluwa, and Dutulanaa). Sampling was carried out using a composite method to ensure field-representative data, followed by Cd analysis by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results showed that Cd was detected in all paddy soil samples, with the highest to lowest concentrations found at Bolihuangga Station (0.29 ppm), Hunggaluwa Station (0.24 ppm), and Dutulanaa Station (0.23 ppm), respectively, all of which remained below the CCME quality standard of 0.6 ppm. In the rice samples, Cd was also detected, with the highest concentrations at Hunggaluwa Station (0.0024 mg/kg), followed by Bolihuangga (0.0020 mg/kg) and Dutulanaa (0.0019 mg/kg), all of which complied with the SNI 6128:2020 standard of 0.1 mg/kg. Although these levels are below the permissible thresholds, the presence of Cd indicates that heavy metals are entering the food chain. Given the persistent and bioaccumulative nature of Cd, this heavy metal will continue to accumulate in the environment and build up in body tissues. Regular environmental monitoring is required. It is recommended that communities and farmers reduce the excessive use of phosphatased chemical fertilizers and transition to organic fertilizers or to more sly friendly agricultural methods to prevent long-term accumulation of hebemetilsan paddy fields.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) attacks the immune system and may progress to AIDS if untreated. Globally, 40.8 million cases were recorded in 2024, while Indonesia reported 63,707 new cases the same year. Gorontalo Province recorded 1,360 cases in 2025, with 347 in Gorontalo City. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between sexual partners, condom use, HIV knowledge, and STI history with HIV incidence among the GWL group (Gay, Transgender, and MSM) in Gorontalo City. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed with 78 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square test. Results showed significant relationships between sexual partners (p=0.046), condom use (p=0.020), and HIV knowledge (p=0.019) with HIV incidence, while STI history showed no significant relationship (p=0.252). It is concluded that risky sexual behavior and low HIV knowledge are the primary factors associated with HIV transmission among the GWL community in Gorontalo City.

Abstract

Profitability is one of the primary indicators used to assess corporate financial performance, particularly in the palm oil industry, which is highly dependent on macroeconomic conditions and the dynamics of the global commodity market. This study aims to examine the effect of exchange rate volatility and Crude Palm Oil (CPO) prices on corporate profitability, with inflation serving as a moderating variable, among palm oil companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2019–2024 period. This study employed a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from corporate financial statements and relevant macroeconomic data. The sample consisted of 24 palm oil companies, resulting in 144 observations. Data were analyzed using panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to examine both the direct effects of the independent variables and the moderating role of inflation. The findings indicate that exchange rate volatility and CPO prices have a positive but statistically insignificant effect on corporate profitability. Furthermore, inflation is unable to moderate the relationship between exchange rate volatility and profitability or between CPO prices and profitability. However, when considered simultaneously, all independent variables collectively exert a significant effect on profitability. These findings suggest that macroeconomic factors jointly contribute to the financial performance of palm oil companies, although firm-specific internal factors remain the primary determinants of profitability. The results are expected to provide useful insights for corporate managers, investors, and policymakers in formulating strategies to improve corporate resilience and financial performance amid changing economic conditions.

Abstract

Cervical cancer remains a global and national non-communicable health problem with a high incidence rate. Early detection through Visual Inspection with Acitic Acid screening is important for reducing morbidity and mortality, however, its coverage remains low. Globally, the participation rate of women of reproductive age screening is approximately 33,66%, while in Indonesia, it has not yet reached the 75% target. In Gorontalo Province, screening coverage is around 15 % and the Kota Selatan Community Health Center in 2025, only 1,77% of 2.039 women of reproductive age participated in screening. Low participation is influenced by several factors, including, knowledge, access to health services, access to information, husband’s support, and feelings of embarrassment. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the participation of women in the Health Center. This quantitative study used an analytical survey with a Cross-sectional design and involved 55 respondents selected using Accidental sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-square test. The result showed that access to information (p = 0.001) and feelings of embarrassment (p = 0.001), were associated with participation in cervical cancer screening, whereas knowledge (p = 0.664), access to health services (p = 0.080), and husband’s support (p = 0.512) were not. In conclusion, access to information and feelings and embarrassment are related to screening participation. Therefore, increased education and health services that ensure patient privacy are needed to improve the participation of women of reproductive age in cervical cancer screening.
