Abstract

Isolation of cDNA Fragment of Gene Encoding for Actin from Melastoma malabthricum. M. malabathricum grows well in acidic soil with high Al solubility, thereby it can be used as a model plant for tolerance to aluminum and acid stresses. Actin is housekeeping gene used as an internal control for gene expression analysis. The objective of this research was to isolate and clone the cDNA fragments of MmACT encoding for actin of M. malabathricum. Total RNA was isolated and used as the template for cDNA synthesis by reverse transcription. Four cDNA fragments of MmACT, called MmACT1, MmACT2, MmACT3, and MmACT4, had been isolated and inserted into pGEM-T Easy plasmid. Nucleotide sequence analysis showed that the size of MmACT1 and MmACT2 is 617 bp, whereas MmACT3 and MmACT4 is 735 bp. The similarity among these four MmACT is about 78%-99% based on nucleotide sequence and about 98%-100% based on amino acid sequence. Phylogenetic analysis based on amino acid sequence showed that at 1% dissimilarity, the MmACT1, MmACT2, MmACT3 and the ACT5 Populus trichocarpha are clustered in one group, while the MmACT4 is grouped with ACT9 P. trichocarpa and ACT1 Gossypium hirsutum, and these two groups are separated from actin group of monocotyledonous plants. The sequence of MmACT fragments were registered in GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ database with accession numbers AB500686, AB500687, AB500688, and AB500689.

Abstract

Reduction of Noise Figure (Fn) on Bipolar Heterojunction Si/Si1-x Gex based on Arrangements Stripe Emitter Area (Ae) and Mole Fraction (x). This paper investigates the influence of stripe emitter area (Ae) and fraction mole (x) concerning about noise figure performance (FN) at HBT SiGe. It takes the second generation of HBT SiGe IBM with Ae; 0.18 x 10 μm2 developed as its model. When the alterations of Ae are from 0.18 x 10 μm2 , 0.12 x 10 μm2 and 0.09 x 10 μm2 , at the same time the fraction mole (x) is raised twice, it makes positive relation to RB and β parameter, but negative relation to RC, fT, and fmax parameter. A model of HBT SiGe with x: 0.1 and Ae: 0.18 x 10 μm2 produces 0.57dB of Fn minimum, the value is less than the other of which has 0.64dB for Ae: 0.12 x 10 μm2 and 0.69 dB for Ae: 0.09 x 10. Then if fraction mole(x) is reduced for 50%, it causes nonlinear Fn raising which are 77%, 79% and 89% from the previous value. Noise figure (Fn) had a negative relationship with emitter stripe area (Ae), whereas the mole fraction (x) has a positive relationship; so the noise figure (Fn) can be made low by minimizing emitter stripe area (Ae) and raise the mole fraction (x).

Abstract

Maximal and Prime Ideals of Skew Polynomial Ring Over the Gauss Integers Domain. Let R be any ring with identity 1, σ be an automorphism of R and δ be a left σ-derivation. The skew polynomial ring over R in an indeterminate x is the set of polynomials anx n + an-1x n-1 + . . . + a0 where ai∈ R with multiplication rule xa = σ (a) x + δ(a) for all ai∈ R. In this paper, R is Gauss integers, i.e Z + Zi, where i 2 = -1, σ is the automorphism of R with σ(a + bi) = a - bi where a,b∈ Z, the ring of integers, and δ is the zero σ-derivation. We will show maximal and prime ideals of this skew polynomial ring.

Abstract

Detailed numerical calculations are presented in this paper for natural convection in a porous parallelogrammic enclosure with a magnetic field. The inclined walls are maintained isothermally at different temperatures. The top and bottom horizontal straight walls are kept adiabatic. To simplify the effort in matching the grid mesh with the inclined walls of the parallelogrammic region/geometry, the computational domain is mapped onto a rectangular shape using a non-linear axis transformation. Transport equations are modeled by a stream-vorticity formulation then expressed in the new coordinate system and solved numerically by a finite difference method. Based upon the numerical predictions, we found the convection modes within the enclosure depended upon the Rayleigh number and the inclination angle. As the value of magnetic field is made larger, the strength of the heat transfer is progressively suppressed. Tuning the inclination angle decreases the heat transfer performance.

Abstract

The study area is located in North Kelantan, Malaysia. The North Kelantan plain is covered with quaternary sediments overlying granite bedrock. The drainage system is dendritic with the main river flowing into the South China Sea. Geoelectrical resistivity profiling surveys were conducted to determine the characteristics of the subsurface and the groundwater within the aquifer. The geoelectric resistivity surveys are made up of twelve resistivity traverses at five different sites. Each site has two or more lines which are perpendicular and parallel to the beach line. The zone of brackish water is very clearly seen in the resistivity inverse model with the position around 20 m of depth. This aquifer is referred to the second aquifer. The subsurface profile in site 1, 2 and 3 which is perpendicular to the beach line shows a wavy pattern. The profile which is parallel to the beach line shows almost planar non wavy pattern. In site 4 and site 5, the profile shows an almost flat.
