Abstract

PT Aneka Kaoline Utama produces kaoline powder through two processes which are washing are washing unit and processing unit. Washing unit does the separation between tailing and kaoline with the extract as the result. The extract contains water and kaoline, then the water reduction will be processed in processing unit. Based on the information, writer evaluates the extract production in washing unit for fulfilling the needs of processing unit in PT Aneka Kaoline Utama using evaluation method and action research method. The steps are sampling raw material (feed), calculating the sediment pond’s dimention and the volume of full pond, sampling tailing in washing unit’s tools, observing the production’s process, and evaluating the needs off kaoline extract. The result of this research shows that raw material in washing unit were 3,847.4 ton in April, 3,606.2 ton in May, 2,594.9 ton June, and 3,890 in July which showed the amound of extract did not reach the target in processing unit. 69.2% of loose material and 21% loosing kaolin in average caused the recovery value in washing unit just reached 30.8%. Because of loose kaoline’s presence in washing unit, writer suggests the increasing of raw material and working hour as big as 27,056.3 ton per hour with 30.8% washing unit’s recovery so the company can produce 8.34 ton kaoline per hour and 4,000 ton kaoline per month.

Abstract

Fulfilling the annual production target of PT Prima Timah Utama based on the 2019 Work Plan and Budget of 1,100,000 m3 requires the procurement of adequate mining equipment both in terms of quantity and production capacity, especially excavators. The equipment procurement plan is estimated by calculating the need for tools using a sample of 30 distribution time data, 9-time constraints data, and some supporting calculation data that results in tool requirements. The cost of ownership of the equipment to be compared with the rental cost is obtained from the purchase price, interest, residual value and economic life of the equipment, the cost comparison is then analyzed using the Net Present Value method. The calculation results show that PT Prima Timah Utama must add 2 units of CAT 320D2 excavator for overburden stripping and wash with an estimated equipment cost of Rp. 2,224,076,433.6 for 2 units of new equipment and Rp. 2,541,131,520 for 2 units of rental equipment where the difference between the rental and purchase equipment is Rp. 317,055,086.4 for one year of work. The result of the analysis with the evaluation of NPV investment has a value of Rp. 32,313,773,567.7 or >0 which states that the investment is declared feasible.

Abstract

Industrial-scale Magnetic Separator is used to process tin ore by separating magnetic and nonmagnetic minerals using a belt conveyor speed and splitter opening only one variation. Based on this, this research is intended to obtain a more varied and optimal combination of variable settings in the recovery of tin ore yields. The method used is quantitative data analysis method by obtaining nonmagnetic minerals using a combination of splitter openings and belt conveyor speed based on grain size, calculating the content of tin ore in non-magnetic minerals using the Grain Counting Analysis method and calculating the composition of tin ore recovery. The research was conducted based on grain sizes of 60 mesh, 80 mesh, and 120 mesh using a combination of splitter opening sizes of 0.2 cm, 0.4 cm, and 0.6 cm and using a belt conveyor speed of 27.12 cm/s, 28.15 cm/s, and 28.40 cm/s. The sample used for each grain size is 9,000 grams with repetition for each combination of variables, namely 30 times. The results of this study obtained the highest yield of tin ore at grain size of 80 mesh as much as 1,753.7 grams in 8,920.3 grams of non-magnetic minerals with tin ore grades of 19.66% using a combination of speed 27.12 cm/s and splitter opening 0.2 cm. Based on the results of the study, the tin ore contained in the non-magnetic material processed by the Magnetic Separator, the grain size of 80 mesh is higher than that contained in the grain size of 60 mesh, while the grain size is finer than 80 mesh, the lower the recovery of tin ore contained in the non-magnetic material. Meanwhile, the larger the splitter opening and the speed of the conveyor belt, the higher the nonmagnetic minerals obtained.

Abstract

PT XYZ plans to replace the production unit of the Kobelco SK200 excavator because it is unable to achieve the production target with a Mechanical Availability (MA) value of 55%. There are 7 scenarios in considering the replacement of the equipment. The analysis is carried out by considering the unit's capability and value in Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and payback period in each scenario. The scenario for the improvement of Kobelco SK200 which increases the MA value to 75% is still unable to achieve the production target. Economic analysis shows that the highest NPV is in scenario 4 of Rp. 22,240,168,298, while the highest IRR is in scenario 3 of 79.93%. If PT XYZ wants a faster payback duration, scenario 3 by selling old equipment and renting used equipment with an MA value according to the target is the best choice. In addition, in terms of capital requirements, scenario 3 is the option with the lowest initial capital, where the amount of capital is a very important factor and often limits the ability of entrepreneurs and mining companies.

Abstract

This research was conducted to redesign the dimensions of the temporary sump to accommodate the total volume of incoming water so as to minimize the occurrence of puddles around the mining area. The method used is a quantitative method by analyzing daily rainfall data for 10 years (2011-2020) using the Gumbell distribution. Actual data in the form of field rainfall intensity, sump water level rise, dimensions and actual discharge of the channel as well as the length and diameter of the pipe. Based on the 5-year return period, the total incoming discharge is 27,043.160 m3/day and based on the maximum rainfall of 30,693.351 m3/day after pumping 607.71 m3/hour for 7 hours, resulting in a residual discharge of 22,789.190 m3/day for 37.5 hours (PUH 5 years) and 26,439.387 m3/day for 43.5 hours (maximum CH). The actual dimensions of all four of Edward's Pit 4 channels are already larger than theoretical. The pump cost which is planned to operate for 7 hours is Rp 408,107.14/day while the actual pump operates 4 hours with additional maintenance costs of Rp 174,811.20/day or ± 42% of the planned cost. Making the actual temporary sump is Rp 73,598,773.90 with an additional cost of making the recommended sump of Rp 62,874,123.60 or ± 85% of the actual cost with a total cost of Rp 272,744,273.

Abstract

The Mineral Processing Sector (BPM) is a place for processing precious tin minerals with other associated minerals. This research was conducted because the tin content in table water as feed in processing is still quite economical, namely 9.64% Sn and the minimum level that must be achieved as smelting feed is >60% Sn. The data collection method was carried out by conducting feed analysis with the GCA test to determine the levels and distribution of minerals in the feed. Furthermore, the shake table tool variations are adjusted such as stroke lengths of 15 mm, 22 mm, 10 mm with a sample result of 9 samples and the speed of air flow over the table is carried out as many as 3 variations, namely 0.025 m/s, 0.011 m/s, 0.014 m/s with results of 9 samples. Then the combination of the two variables was carried out with the results of 27 samples. The results of the GCA analysis were carried out to see the effect on levels and recovery. The results of the combination of stroke length and water flow velocity were the most optimal in combination with a stroke length of 15 mm and a water flow velocity of 0.025 m/s resulting in a concentrate of 58.44% Sn, moderately 6.26% Sn, and tailings 2.72% Sn as well as recovery. by 58.49%.
