Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study the history of the Ngabungbang  tradition festival, the development of this tradition, and the emerging effects of the Ngabungbang  festival as a cultural tourism attraction in Cimande. Method: This study used a qualitative descriptive method through in-depth interviews with several participants, using a functionalist anthropology approach because it tries to understand traditional values related to local customs and their interrelationships as one of the tourist attractions in Cimande village. Results: The conclusion from this investigation is that the Ngabungbang  tradition is part of the cultural heritage of the Cimande people, this tradition has been practiced for decades starting in the 1930s. During the Ngabungbang tradition procession, there are several traditional activities ahead of the visit to the Kasepuhan Cimande tomb. Furthermore, there are three effects of the Ngabungbang  festival activities as a cultural tourism attraction for Cimande Village residents, namely economic effects, religious effects, and social effects. Contribution: The results of this study are expected to provide information about the history of the Nkumpulbang festival and then the importance of maintaining the original cultural values of the Ngabungbang  festival as a tourist attraction that can have a positive impact on the residents of Cimande Village, such as economic impacts, religious impacts, and social impacts.

Abstract

Purpose: This study seeks to determine the economic impact of sport tourism on the residents of Sembalun Lawang Village, Sembalun District, East Lombok Province. Method: In this study, a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation was utilized. This research focuses on the community, SMEs, outdoor rentals, and homeowners of villas. Researchers perform data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing as part of data analysis. Results: Sport tourism has a very positive impact on the community and tourism stakeholders, particularly locals who own villas, outdoor rentals, and businesses in the Sembalun Lawang region, because it increases their income and revitalizes the local economy. Contribution: It is hoped that the village government will play a more active role in communicating community involvement to event organizers and service providers outside the community, as well as registering individuals who have UMKM.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper investigates the influence of job engagement and work-life balance on increasing employee retention in the Hotel Industry. Method: The study used quantitative research with a causal associative approach. The population in this study was 63 employees of Natra Bintan Resort. 40 respondents were successfully collected using simple random sampling techniques. Data was obtained through a structured questionnaire and supplemented with a desk review of the literature.  The proposed model is analyzed through the Smart PLSS assessment. Result: The result of this study found that there is a significant influence on the significant work engagement path. Meanwhile, there is an insignificant influence of the work-life balance path on employee retention. Job engagement and work-life balance are predictors of employee retention in the hospitality industry. Contribution: The contribution of this study is manifestly found as a significantly increasing employee retention which will give a big impact on the Hotel Industry. The company is expected to pay attention to the relationship between employees and superiors about work-life balance and job engagement and employees get complete information about the requirements for occupying a position. The theoretical contribution of this research lies in its exploration of the influences of work-life balance and job engagement on employee retention within the hotel industry. By empirically testing these relationships and differentiating their impacts, the study provides valuable insights for both academia and the practical management of human resources in the hospitality sector

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to elucidate the profound influence of service quality and room rates on hotel guest loyalty within the context of UNP Hotel & Convention Center. Method: Employing an explanatory research design with a quantitative approach, this study examines the interplay between service quality, room rates, and hotel guest loyalty. The study focuses on a population of repeat guests at UNP Hotel & Convention Center. Data was collected from 50 respondents through purposive sampling using a meticulously designed questionnaire. The collected data was subjected to descriptive analysis and path analysis, with the proposed model evaluated using the Smart Partial Least Squares Structural (PLSS) assessment. Results: The findings underscore a compelling and statistically significant correlation between service quality, room rates, and guest loyalty. This highlights a crucial implication for the hotel industry to prioritize and meticulously manage service quality and room pricing in order to foster and amplify guest loyalty. Contribution: This research underscores the pivotal role of service quality and room rates in nurturing guest loyalty at UNP Hotel & Convention Center. The study reaffirms that guest loyalty is intricately tied to the anticipated service quality and pricing. As such, maintaining service quality at par and ensuring competitive room rates could potentially lead to higher guest retention and choice of the hotel. Conversely, a decline in either service quality or competitive pricing may precipitate diminished guest loyalty

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to comprehensively understand, evaluate, and categorize the life cycle of tourism areas. Method: Employing a descriptive-qualitative approach, this study conducted interviews with multiple managers and engaged in direct observations. Through both primary and secondary data collection methods, the distinctive features of the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) were identified and categorized. Results: The findings reveal that rejuvenation is essential for all eight components of the tourism area life cycle within Alas Purwo National Park. These TALC components exert a significant influence on the developmental stage of the park. The research presents a range of opportunities and challenges in managing tourist attractions within the park. These challenges present opportunities for managing attractions more effectively. Strategies for expansion involve the addition of artificial attractions and enhancements to facilities. A focal point in the development of Alas Purwo National Park is the engagement of the local community and visitors, facilitated by raising their awareness of sustainable tourism practices. Contribution: This article serves as a valuable resource for information, reference, and initial exploration, thus enriching the broader community's comprehension of the life cycle within Alas Purwo National Park. Furthermore, it offers insights into the behaviors and awareness of tourists. It provides managerial assistance in categorizing the distinct characteristics of tourism within the park.

Abstract

Purpose: Pasar Lama, a culinary center located in Tangerang’s Chinatown area. This area is famous for its’ street food and exclusive food and beverage vendors. Repurchase intention in a food and beverage establishment is affected by utilitarian and hedonic values of the customer. Perceived values are also influenced by several factors, namely food quality, service quality, physical environment, price, and rapidity. Researching repurchase intention in Pasar Lama is crucial for enhancing culinary tourism's sustainability, guiding businesses, attracting more tourists, informing policies, and preserving local culture. Method: This is a quantitative explanatory research with cross-sectional data with people who visited and bought street food in Pasar Lama as the population. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with 160 respondents given online questionnaires. The data was the analyzed with SEM-PLS method using SMART-PLS v3.0. Result: The result pointing out a different conclusion than the previous study because of the difference between population. Four hypotheses were rejected on the relation of food and service quality with utilitarian value, and physical environment & price with hedonic value. Contribution: A heterogenous population in Pasar Lama and Indonesia would bring different result on influence of perceived values on repurchase intention. Different settings, time dimensions, and sampling technique are suggested for future research.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate Thai university students’ perceptions of the factors that would affect the tourism industry of Thailand. Method:  Forty-five (45) undergraduates in a university in Thailand were asked to answer the questionnaire of nine questions on the effects of selected factors affecting the Thai tourism industry. The data collection was done in March 2021. The collected data were analyzed using basic descriptive statistics. Result: The results showed that Covid-19 pandemic was perceived to be the factor with the greatest impact on Thai tourism (Mean = 4.86), followed closely by the internal political problems (Mean = 4.40). .The lowest three factors were found to be the climate crises (Mean = 3.64), US-China trade war (Mean = 3.55), and robots/AI (Mean = 3.13). Foreign language skills, communication, and technology use were among the highly cited skills and abilities Thai people should be focusing more on. Contribution: This study adds valuable insights to the existing body of knowledge in the field of tourism and hospitality management. The findings provide a perspective on the factors influencing the industry's performance, especially  revealing the intricate interplay between socio-political, environmental, and economic factors.

Abstract

Purpose: The study aims at unraveling the factors that impact the intention of adopting social media in 2–3-star hotels in Hanoi. Method: A mixed-methods research design was adopted, synergizing both qualitative and quantitative approaches to afford a comprehensive exploration of the research objectives. Result: Qualitative insights from in-depth interviews reveal participants' perspectives on technology, organizational, and environmental contexts. Quantitative findings from structured questionnaires affirm that user-friendly platforms, management support, industry competition, and guest expectations positively influence adoption intentions. These insights highlight the complex interplay between technological attributes, organizational dynamics, and environmental factors in shaping hotels' inclination to integrate social media platforms. Contribution: The study's theoretical contributions is achieved through the academic discourse. The synthesis of empirical revelations with established theories enriches the theoretical fabric, offering insights that resonate beyond this study's scope. The alignment with TOE framework extends the conceptual underpinnings of social media adoption within the hospitality domain. In practical terms, this study empowers hotel practitioners with actionable insights. The emphasis on management support, resource allocation, guest-centric engagement, and strategic adaptation furnishes practitioners with a compass to navigate the complex landscape of social media integration in 2-3-star hotels in Hanoi.

Abstract

Abstract Purpose: This study aims to compare the concept of halal tourism (Halal Tourism) between two countries, namely Indonesia and Turkey in terms of the GMTI 2020 assessment criteria, namely Access, Communication, Environment and Service. Method: The research method used is Library Research with descriptive comparative analysis techniques. Results: The research results show. The implications of this research provide an in-depth description of the concept of tourism and become a reference for each country to increase halal tourism in their respective countries. Contribution: This research contributes to GMTI stakeholders and parties to pay more attention to the state of tourism and become a reference for better tourism assessment and management so that these two countries can compete better.

Abstract

Purpose: To examine the impact of information technology on the competitive ability of 2- and 3-star hotels in Hanoi. Method: This study used desk research and surveys to collect data. Then, the data was processed by using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 with the Reliability Testing, the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and the linear SEM analysis. Result: The results show that information technology has positive impacts on the 05 factors that constituting the competitive ability of 2- and 3-star hotels in Hanoi: market-oriented ability, marketing ability, organizational management ability, resource mobilizing ability, social capability. Contribution: The research addresses a significant and relevant area in the field of hospitality and technology while providing valuable insights into how information technology adoption can enhance the competitive ability of 2- and 3-star hotels in Hanoi. Moreover, the findings may have implications for policymakers and industry stakeholders. It could inform government initiatives or industry associations on how to support IT adoption and competitive ability in the hospitality sector. At the same time, it can also contribute to the broader discussion on the role of technology in the hospitality industry and its implications for both businesses and consumers in future researches.
