Abstract

Purpose: Tourism has become a major growth engine in Indonesia and has helped the local economy and government. One of Indonesia's emerging economic sectors is tourism. Pekalongan is one of the most central cities in Java and has many natural and man-made tourist spots.  To increase the attractiveness and sustain tourism, Pasir Kencana tourism in Pekalongan city should be properly managed. The objective of this investigation is to determine the extent to which community-based tourism (CBT) is being used, how it is implemented, and what obstacles are encountered in implementing CBT in tourism. Method: Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the use of the descriptive narrative method.  Result: These results show that although the community has participated in tourism management, it has not reached the desired level. Pasir Kencana Beach is a good example of community-based tourism, evidenced by the activities of a good tourism outreach group (Pokdarwis). Constraints of community-based tourism management development strategies include promoting tourism, adding qualified human resources based on the field of education, using information technology to introduce and promote tourism to a wider audience; it is also possible to attract investors to help improve tourism-related infrastructure and develop tourism destinations by making the best use of available space and leveraging local uniqueness and culture to generate more revenue from visitors. Contribution: This research contributes to developing scientific concepts about community participation in developing tourist destinations.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to design a travel itinerary media that integrates necessary elements from various sources and presents them in an attractive and informative format. The approach used is Design Thinking, which places the user at the center of the design process. Method: The research employs the Design Thinking approach, which involves five main stages: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Data were collected through direct observation, questionnaires, and analysis of tourist behavior and preferences. The resulting prototype was tested by a representative group of users to assess the functionality and usability of the travel itinerary design. Result: The study culminated in the creation of a tourist itinerary media design, developed through the Design Thinking process. This design effectively integrates essential elements from diverse sources, ensuring it is both visually appealing and informative. Crucially, user testing with the System Usability Scale (SUS) produced an average score of 76.75. This score reflects a high level of user satisfaction and confirms the system's strong usability, highlighting the design's potential for enhancing the tourist experience. The positive reception underscores the study's impact in offering a user-friendly and engaging tool for tourism planning. Contribution: The main contribution of this study is the development of a more innovative tourist itinerary design that is in line with user needs. Through the Design Thinking approach, this research provides practical guidance for designing relevant and effective solutions in the tourism industry context.

Abstract

Purpose: Lombok Island is known as an attractive tourist destination with natural beauty and unique culture. The growth of the tourism sector is very important for regional economic development. Lombok Island often faces challenges in its transportation system, including complex routes, varying road conditions, and traffic problems. Method: In this research, the data used were 30 tourist attractions on the island of Lombok sourced from the Tourism Office. Tourist attractions in Lombok are represented by vertices in the graph. Then the edges represent roads connecting tourist attractions and the weights represent the cost of getting to each tourist attraction from a starting vertex. Then, to determine the minimum transportation cost for each tourist attraction based on this graph, we use Dijkstra algorithm based on the shortest path for each tourist attraction. Result: The minimum transportation costs for each tourist attraction are obtained based on the shortest route for each tourist attraction on Lombok Island. Contribution: The application of Dijkstra algorithm can be a solution to overcome some of these challenges by determining the shortest path and optimizing transportation costs.
