Abstract

Environmental degradation has become one of the most critical global challenges in contemporary society, primarily driven by excessive human consumption and the exploitative use of natural resources. Islam addresses this issue through ethical teachings that emphasize moderation and balance in human behavior. One of the key Qur'anic principles related to this issue is the prohibition of isrāf (extravagance), as stated in QS. Al-A'rāf verse 31: “Eat and drink, but do not be excessive. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are excessive.” This study aims to analyze the concept of isrāf in the Qur’an and to examine its relevance to environmental preservation using a thematic interpretation (tafsīr maudhū‘ī) approach. The research adopts a qualitative library-based method by collecting Qur’anic verses related to isrāf and analyzing them through classical and contemporary tafsir as well as Islamic environmental ethics perspectives. The findings indicate that isrāf in the Qur’anic worldview refers to any form of behavior that exceeds proper limits, including excessive consumption and irresponsible use of natural resources. QS. Al-A‘rāf verse 31 highlights moderation as a fundamental Islamic value and provides an ethical foundation for sustainable living. The prohibition of isrāf is therefore not merely a moral injunction but also a practical framework for addressing contemporary environmental crises. This study concludes that Islamic teachings on moderation and balance are highly relevant to modern sustainability efforts and can contribute significantly to the development of environmentally responsible behavior.

Abstract

The current massive digital disruption phenomenon has triggered a worrying moral crisis in the virtual public sphere. This condition is characterized by the high intensity of the spread of misinformation (hoaxes), cyber provocation, hate speech, and the erosion of civilized communication ethics. Muhammadiyah, as a da'wah organization oriented towards renewal and educational enlightenment, responds to these challenges responsively by strengthening media literacy based on Islamic moral principles. This study aims to explore in depth the construction of the concept of digital morality in Islamic education and the systematic mechanisms for implementing media literacy in Muhammadiyah educational environments through a review of organizational policy documents. This study applies a qualitative approach with a library research method (library reserch). The researcher acts as a key instrument in collecting data through documentation studies. The research data sources are classified into primary data, which include fiqh documents, information on the tarjih and tajdid councils of PP Muhammadiyah, and the Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah curriculum (AIK), and secondary data from relevant scientific literature. Data analysis is carried out systematically using content analysis techniques (content analysis) which includes the stages of reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to synthesize the construction of digital morality in Muhammadiyah Education policies and practices. Research findings indicate that the digital moral framework from Muhammadiyah's perspective is fundamentally oriented toward the values of tabayyun (verification), the polite manifestation of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil), and theological awareness of the afterlife's accountability in every digital interaction. The implementation of this literacy has been proven to go beyond mere mastery of technical skills (technical skills), emphasizing the internalization of Information Fiqh ethics as a behavioral guideline for the entire academic community. The synergy between official organizational policies, an adaptive AIK curriculum, and a robust educational infrastructure is Muhammadiyah's fundamental strategy in mitigating the impact of moral disruption in the digital era. The success of this model sets an important precedent for Islamic education in producing a generation that is not only technologically savvy but also possesses spiritual depth and moral integrity in the virtual world.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the deep learning approach as an integrative strategy between the Merdeka Curriculum and the Muhammadiyah Education Curriculum at SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta. The research focuses on the planning, implementation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in the application of deep learning within integrated learning practices. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach in the form of field research, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by data triangulation. The findings indicate that the deep learning approach is capable of systematically integrating the Merdeka Curriculum and the Muhammadiyah Education Curriculum through learning planning based on four core components of deep learning, the implementation of contextual and reflective learning methods, and interdisciplinary collaboration grounded in Islamic values. Supporting factors for the implementation of deep learning include the availability of learning technologies, teachers’ quality and transformative mindsets, and a collaborative culture among teachers. In contrast, inhibiting factors include differences in teachers’ mindsets, the diversity of students’ characteristics and literacy levels, and limitations in instructional time allocation. The novelty of this study lies in the finding that deep learning functions as a pedagogical bridge that not only integrates academic achievement and Islamic character formation but also humanizes the educational process in a holistic and progressive manner.

Abstract

The learning of worship fiqh in Islamic educational institutions often faces a gap between the mastery of concepts (harmony, conditions, and legal provisions) and the procedural accuracy of the implementation of worship. This condition emphasizes the importance of a learning strategy that not only targets cognitive achievement, but also builds practice skills and worship habits. This article aims to map practice-based worship fiqh learning strategies at various levels of education and analyze its impact on students' understanding. The research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. Secondary data is obtained from relevant scientific literature, then analyzed using content analysis through the stages of in-depth reading, theme coding, categorization, and inter-source synthesis. The results of the review show that practice-based learning strategies tend to follow a tiered pattern of "from knowing, doing, getting used to it". At the MI/SD level, practice is more directed at internalizing values through example, demonstration, media utilization, and rotational practice. At the MTs level, practice is more structured (preparation-implementation-final) and strengthened with guidance and monitoring to extend habituation from the classroom to daily life. Practice-based learning improves students' understanding (cognitive and procedural) and encourages learning engagement, noting the need to strengthen meaning so that practice does not become a routine without appreciation.

Abstract

The concept of Smart Society 5.0 developed in Japan emphasizes a human-centered approach through the integration of digital technology, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data to improve social well-being in a sustainable manner. However, this transformation also has serious implications for the world of education, especially related to the potential for dehumanization of learning, the tendency to secularize science, and the inequality of access to education due to the digital divide. This research aims to analyze the strategic position of Muhammadiyah education in facing the dynamics of Smart Society 5.0 and formulate the response of Progressive Islamic Education to these challenges. This research uses a literature study method with a qualitative-descriptive approach through the analysis of scientific literature and official documents of Muhammadiyah published in the range of 2018–2024. The results of the study show that Muhammadiyah responds to the challenges of Society 5.0 through a value-based education paradigm by placing technology under the control of the principle of monotheism, strengthening humanist pedagogy in the relationship between teachers and students, and revitalizing Al-Ma'un theology as the basis of social justice and educational inclusivity. This finding confirms that Muhammadiyah education is not only technologically adapted, but plays an active role as a moral guide so that the transformation of education in the era of Society 5.0 remains oriented towards humanity and social justice.

Abstract

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly influenced the direction of educational curriculum development. The use of AI in education is often positioned as a technical solution to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of learning, but this approach risks narrowing the meaning of education when it is not accompanied by ethical and humanistic reflection. This article aims to critically examine the challenges of educational curricula in the era of artificial intelligence and offer a framework for a reflective and transformative reorientation of curricula. This study uses a literature review method with a qualitative-critical approach to various academic sources that discuss the relationship between technology, curriculum, humanistic education, and Islamic educational perspectives. Data analysis was conducted through thematic and interpretive review to identify the dominant trend of technological rationality and its implications for educational goals. The findings show that the integration of artificial intelligence into the curriculum requires an approach that goes beyond technocratic logic. The curriculum needs to be directed to ensure that the use of AI remains within the framework of ethical values, character building, and social responsibility of students. In the context of Indonesia, which has a strong social and religious background, a value-based reorientation of the curriculum is considered important so that technological innovation does not shift the goals of education, which are oriented towards the development of the whole person. Thus, artificial intelligence can be used as a means of supporting civilized education oriented towards social welfare.

Abstract

The learning process is always related to evaluation, this process is carried out to assess the extent to which learning has taken place. If the process goes well, the results that will be obtained will also be good. There are many methods or ways that can be used to evaluate learning, one of which in this discussion is the tasmi' juziyyah method. . This study aims to assess how effective the tasmi' juziyyah method is in learning to memorise the Qur'an for students at the Al Rasyid Qur'an Tahfidzul Islamic Boarding School. This research involves analysing the learning of memorising the Qur'an, and the impact of using the tasmi' juziyyah method. The method used by the author in collecting data is by conducting observations and direct interviews with the ketahfidzan section of PPTQ Al Rasyid. The results showed that the evaluation of students‘ memorisation through the tasmi’ juziyyah method was carried out in the form of a one juz memorisation deposit directly after the students completed their memorisation. If the students successfully pass this test, they can continue to the next juz. This research is expected to provide a deeper understanding of how effective the tasmi‘ juziyyah method is in evaluating the students’ memorisation process at PPTQ Al Rasyid.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes and civic attitudes in Pancasila Education through the implementation of educational comic media integrated with the discovery learning model. The study employed Classroom Action Research using the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection, and was conducted in two cycles involving 28 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Grogol in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and a civic attitude questionnaire measuring rule-abiding behavior, respect for diversity, active participation, civic concern, and self efficacy. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean scores, mastery learning percentages, and N-gain analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The results show a gradual improvement in students’ learning outcomes and civic attitudes from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. The mean learning outcomes increased from 66.14 in the pre-cycle to 77.14 in Cycle I and 86.57 in Cycle II, with N-gain values categorized as moderate. Civic attitudes scores also improved from the moderate category in the pre-cycle to the high category in Cycle I and Cycle II across all measured indicators. These findings indicate that the integration of educational comic media with the discovery learning model provides a meaningful learning experience that supports improvements in learning outcomes and the development of civic attitudes. Therefore, educational comic media can be considered a relevant and effective alternative instructional approach for enhancing the quality of Pancasila Education learning, particularly in classroom contexts with limited access to digital technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the practical interpretation of QS. An-Nahl verse 125 in the Madrasah Sabtu Ceria program as a model of community-based non-formal Islamic education and its impact on social transformation in Kampung Gondang. The main focus of the study is on how the values of hikmah, mau'izhah hasanah, and mujadalah are implemented in the children's learning process and how this learning influences the religious behavior of children, families, and the wider community. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of program managers, community leaders, student mentors, parents, and students. Data analysis was carried out descriptively-analytically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with validity strengthened through triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study indicate that the application of the practical interpretation of QS. An-Nahl verse 125 in Madrasah Sabtu Ceria is able to improve children's religiosity and morals, which are reflected in the habit of worship, polite behavior, and social awareness. Furthermore, children act as triggers for change in the family by encouraging parental involvement in religious activities. This impact extends to the community level through increased socio-religious participation, mutual cooperation, and collective solidarity. This study concludes that Islamic education based on practical interpretation in community-based semi-TPA institutions is effective as a strategy for cultural da'wah and social transformation at the grassroots level.

Abstract

The rapid development of intelligent technologies has significantly accelerated innovation in Islamic education. However, such innovation has largely been dominated by a technical-instrumental approach that prioritizes efficiency and system performance, often marginalizing ethical considerations and the normative goals of Islamic education. This study aims to analyze innovation in Islamic education in the era of intelligent technology from an ethical and value-based perspective and to reconstruct an innovation framework aligned with the fundamental objectives of Islamic education. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, this study utilizes qualitative content analysis of reputable academic literature on Islamic education, intelligent technology, and educational ethics. The findings reveal that innovation in Islamic education undergoes transformations across pedagogical, institutional–managerial, and epistemological domains, each carrying significant ethical implications for pedagogical relationships, scholarly authority, and educational orientation. As a conceptual contribution, this study proposes an ethical framework for innovation in Islamic education that positions technology as a supportive instrument, human beings as the primary subjects of education, and Islamic values as the normative compass guiding innovation. The study concludes that sustainable innovation in Islamic education must integrate technological advancement with the cultivation of moral character, ethical awareness, and students’ spiritual development.
