Abstract

This study Science from an Islamic perspective is not only understood as the result of rationality and scientific methods, but also includes moral, spiritual, and transcendental dimensions that are oriented towards the recognition and devotion to Allah SWT. The problem that arises in the development of modern science is the dichotomy between religious science and general science which has an impact on scientific fragmentation and value crisis in Islamic education. This article aims to examine the concept of science as well as the view of the integration of religious science and general science according to Imam Al-Ghazali as a criticism of the dichotomy of science. This study uses a literature study method with a qualitative approach, with primary data sources in the form of works of Imam Al-Ghazali such as Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din and Risalah al-Laduniyyah, as well as secondary data sources in the form of relevant books and scientific articles. The results of the study show that Imam Al-Ghazali views knowledge as a means of getting closer to Allah, which must be based on ethical and moral values. The division of knowledge into the categories of fardhu 'ain and fardhu kifayah as well as shari'iyyah and 'aqliyyah is not intended as a dichotomous separation, but as a functional classification based on its usefulness and priority for the life of the ummah. Al-Ghazali emphasized that religious science and general science are complementary to each other, where reason requires the guidance of revelation and revelation requires understanding of reason. Thus, Imam Al-Ghazali's thought affirms the importance of the integration of knowledge within the framework of monotheism as the foundation for the development of holistic Islamic science and education that is relevant to the challenges of the globalization era.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to analyze the meaning of fasād in the Qur'an as a form of ecotheological criticism of the exploitation of contemporary nature, as well as to reinterpret Islamic values in responding to modern environmental crises. This study departs from the assumption that the meaning of fasād in the interpretation of the Qur'an tends to be limited to the moral and social dimensions, so that its ecological aspects have not been explored optimally. Methodology: The methodology used is qualitative research based on literature studies with a thematic interpretation approach (mawḍū'ī), accompanied by linguistic and ecotheological analysis of the verses of the Qur'an that contain the concept of fasād. The research data is sourced from contemporary interpretive literature and relevant Islamic ecotheological studies. Results: The results of the study show that the fasād in the Qur'an has a multidimensional meaning that includes moral, social, and ecological damage as a result of human deviations in carrying out the caliphate's mandate. The concept of fasād is positioned as a normative critique of human-nature relations that are exploitative and anthropocentric. These findings confirm that the Qur'an offers an ecological ethical framework that emphasizes balance, responsibility, and sustainability. Applications/Originality/Value: The novelty of this research lies in the interpretation of fasād as an ecotheological concept of the Qur'an that reconstructs damage not only morally-socially, but also ecologically, and positions it as an Islamic theological critique of contemporary environmental exploitation through a thematic interpretation approach and linguistic- ecoteological analysis.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the inconsistency in the application of zakat profession nisab in regional zakat institutions, particularly those using the silver nisab for zakat obligations, contrasting with the gold nisab in the Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 2019 on Zakat Management. This practice has led to significant differences in administrati ve effectiveness and compliance with Islamic legal principles. The purpose is to analyze the impact of using the silver nisab on legal legitimacy, social justice, and regulatory compliance in zakat institutions. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, institutional policy observation, and regulatory impact analysis (RIA) of PMA No. 31 of 2019. The study analyzes the effects of the silver nisab in zakat instituti ons, focusing on legal and social implications, and how it influences zakat collection and compliance with Islamic law and state regulations. Results: The results indicate that the silver nisab policy expanded the zakat base and increased zakat collection, but reduced compliance with both Islamic law and state regulations. This finding highlights the need for policy adjustments to ensure zakat institutions remain compliant with both sharia and national legal frameworks. Applications/Originality/Value: The study provides valuable insights into the effects of nisabpolicies on zakat collection and compliance. It highlights the need for coordinated policy efforts to balance zakat collection effectiveness with adherence to sharia principles. This research contributes to the understanding of zakat management in Indonesia and offers recommendations for improving zakat compliance.

Abstract

Marriage is a vital institution that fosters a harmonious family structure. However, the high divorce rate is a concerning phenomenon, with the primary causes often related to communication problems, infidelity, and differing values. Ethical values, such as honesty, empathy, and mutual respect, are believed to play a crucial role in preventing marital discord and strengthening communication between partners. This study aims to investigate the role of ethical values in preventing marital discord and building family harmony, with a focus on the application of ethical principles in the Indonesian cultural context. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review, analyzing various relevant scientific articles to assess the impact of the application of ethical values on marital and family harmony. The results of the study indicate that the application of strong ethical values in marital relationships can improve effective communication, prevent conflict, and strengthen relationship stability. Couples who share the same ethical values tend to have higher levels of marital satisfaction and are better able to manage conflict constructively. In conclusion, the application of ethical values in marriage has a positive impact on preventing conflict and maintaining family harmony, especially in societies with social and cultural norms that emphasize the importance of moral responsibility between partners. This study also suggests the importance of an approach that integrates ethical values into social policy to create stable and harmonious families.

Abstract

The rapid development of twenty-first-century education has emphasized the need for innovative pedagogical models that foster both academic achievement and essential twenty-first-century skills, one of which is Project-Based Learning (PBL). Although PBL has been widely implemented and examined in primary and higher education contexts, studies focusing specifically on its implementation at the senior high school level remain limited and report inconsistent findings. This study aims to systematically review the existing literature on the implementation of Project-Based Learning in senior high school education, with particular attention to implementation models, impacts on students’ learning outcomes, challenges faced by teachers, strategies to address these challenges, and emerging research trends. A systematic literature review method was employed by searching articles indexed in the Scopus database using the keywords “Project-Based Learning,” “Secondary Education,” and “Educational Models.” The selected studies were screened based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed using the PRISMA framework. The findings indicate that PBL in senior high schools is commonly implemented through interdisciplinary and contextual approaches and has a positive impact on students’ critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and learning engagement, although its effects on academic achievement remain mixed. Major challenges in implementing PBL include limited teacher training, insufficient resources and infrastructure, time management constraints, and assessment complexities. Furthermore, recent research trends highlight increased integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, inter-institutional collaboration, and a growing emphasis on process-oriented assessment and the development of twenty-first-century skills. Overall, this review suggests that Project-Based Learning holds substantial potential to enhance the quality of learning in senior high school education; however, its effective implementation requires systematic planning, sustained teacher professional development, and strong institutional support.

Abstract

Humans know time in every life, with the passage of time, humans encounter many experiences in the surrounding environment that can be used as material for thinking to improve their future. In explaining the concept of time management and its implementation in Surah al-'Ashr with the tahlili method which explores the meaning of each vocabulary referring to Arabic rules, such as nahwu Sharaf, balaghah, and semantics. In addition, it will discuss the interpretation of the scholars. Then continued to explore the aspects of maqashidi, education, and wisdom. With the explanation of the concept of time in Surah Al-'Ashr, humans can take lessons to make the best use of time. This is so that humans avoid losses both in this world and in the hereafter. Scholars differ in their interpretation of time, the first opinion says that time includes the steps and movements contained in it, the second opinion says that time is the time when the Asar prayer is carried out, the third opinion says that time is the presence of the Prophet Muhammad in this life. The word of Allah SWT in Surah Al-'Ashr illustrates that the condition of human beings is really at a disadvantage except for those who believe, those who do good deeds, and those who advise each other in truth and patience. To realize the implementation of the best time in life in the world, humans must maximize their efforts and prayers so that every time is guided by Allah SWT, the Lord of the Universe.

Abstract

Purpose: This study critically examines contemporary interpretations of Qur'anic verses commonly labeled as scientific verses concerning the earth and cosmic space, aiming to restore their meanings within Arabic linguistic conventions and classical Qur’anic exegesis while challenging epistemologically anachronistic readings shaped by modern scientific paradigms. Methodology: Employing a thematic tafsīr (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) approach, this research analyzes key Qur’anic expressions describing the earth, such as farāsh, bisāṭ, mahād, madda, qarār, suṭiḥat, and manākib, and examines their semantic relationship with the terms binā' and aqṭār. The study is grounded in close Arabic linguistic analysis and a critical engagement with classical tafsīr literature, combined with an epistemological critique of contemporary scientific-oriented interpretations. Results: The findings demonstrate that classical exegetes consistently interpret these expressions within a phenomenological and functional framework, depicting the earth as it is experienced, perceived, and inhabited by human beings, rather than as a technical cosmological construct or a geometrical model. Moreover, verses emphasizing cosmic vastness, such as the Verse of the Throne (Qur’an 2:255), Qur’an 3:133, and Qur’an 55:33, function theologically and pedagogically, affirming divine majesty and human limitation rather than anticipating or validating modern cosmological theories. Value: This study reaffirms classical tafsīr as a normative methodological standard for interpreting ayat kawniyyah and argues that reading modern scientific cosmology into the Qur’an constitutes an epistemological anachronism. By rejecting the reduction of the Qur’an to a scientific textbook and reaffirming the primacy of Arabic linguistic meaning and classical exegetical tradition, this research offers a disciplined and theologically grounded framework for contemporary Qur’anic studies.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology and the demands of 21st-century education have significantly influenced the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), particularly in responding to the characteristics of Generation Alpha. Conventional IRE learning, which largely emphasizes memorization and one-way instruction, is considered less effective in fostering meaningful understanding and character formation. This study aims to conceptualize the deep learning approach as a pedagogical framework for strengthening character education in Islamic Religious Education for Generation Alpha. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods by analyzing relevant academic journals, books, and policy documents related to deep learning, Islamic education, and character development. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify conceptual patterns and theoretical relationships. The findings indicate that the deep learning approach emphasizes critical thinking, reflective learning, and contextual understanding of Islamic values, enabling students to internalize religious teachings more substantively. This approach is highly relevant to the learning characteristics of Generation Alpha and contributes positively to the development of religious awareness, critical thinking, and moral responsibility. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence, curriculum constraints, and inadequate learning facilities remain obstacles to its implementation. Therefore, strengthening teacher capacity and institutional support is essential for the effective application of deep learning in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study aims to design an innovative Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah (AIK) curriculum based on a deep learning pedagogical framework to strengthen the formation of Muhammadiyah identity among students at Muhammadiyah University Purwokerto. The research addresses the limitations of conventional AIK learning models that remain predominantly cognitive, normative, and ritualistic, and have not yet effectively facilitated value internalization and identity construction. The study employs a design-based research (DBR) approach by integrating Muhammadiyah theological foundations, educational psychology of identity formation, and deep learning pedagogy. The curriculum design is developed through iterative stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Deep learning principles applied include meaningful learning, reflective engagement, critical consciousness, value internalization, and transformative praxis. Data were generated through document analysis, focus group discussions, expert validation, and limited pilot implementation within the AIK learning context. The study produces a structured AIK curriculum model consisting of learning outcomes, learning pathways, instructional strategies, learning activities, assessment frameworks, and identity-based learning indicators. The model is organized into four integrative dimensions: theological grounding, ideological internalization, socio-cultural engagement, and civic-ethical praxis. The curriculum systematically transforms AIK learning from doctrinal transmission into a process of identity formation, enabling students to embody Muhammadiyah values in personal, social, and civic life. This research offers an original contribution by integrating deep learning pedagogy with Islamic curriculum design and identity-based education within Muhammadiyah higher education. Practically, the model provides a scalable and adaptable framework for AIK curriculum reform across Muhammadiyah universities, supporting sustainable character formation, ideological internalization, and transformative student development in Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought major changes in the lives of Generation Z, including in the way they think, behave, and behave. On the other hand, this change also raises various moral problems that show that technological and knowledge advances are not always followed by moral and spiritual maturity. Departing from these conditions, this study aims to examine the concept of moral education in Al Ghazali's thought and examine its relevance in responding to the moral crisis of Generation Z in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach through library research. Data was obtained from primary sources in the form of Al-Ghazali's works and supported by various secondary literature that discusses moral education, characteristics of Generation Z, and educational challenges in the digital era. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques to understand the main idea of Al-Ghazali's moral education and relate it to the reality of today's education. The results of the study show that moral education according to Al-Ghazali emphasizes the process of inner development through purification of the soul (tazkiyat al-nafs), balance between knowledge and practice, habituation of good behavior, and the importance of the role model of educators. These principles are still very relevant to be applied in the education of Generation Z, especially in the face of the negative influence of digitalization which tends to form an instant attitude and weaken moral control. This research offers novelty value by associating Al-Ghazali's moral education thinking with the context of Generation Z's life in the digital era. These findings show that Al-Ghazali's classical thought is not obsolete, but can be developed contextually through the integration of Islamic moral values with modern learning media and methods, thus remaining relevant and applicable without losing its spiritual dimension.
