Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates teachers' perceptions and challenges regarding the use of animated videos in learning vocabulary in English for students with disabilities. This research aims to find out the teachers' perceptions towards the use of animated videos in learning vocabulary in English and the challenges faced by teachers when using animated video media as a means of learning vocabulary in children with disabilities. Methodology: This study employed a qualitative methodology, triangulating data through interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. We conducted data analysis using Craswell's framework and Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion formulation. We purposefully selected three English teachers and corroborated the data with information from other sources to ensure its accuracy. The observation evaluated the application of video animation, the interview delved into teachers' perceptions of its use, and the document analysis scrutinized the involvement of students with disabilities in learning through video animation. Results: These findings show that according to teachers' perceptions, the use of animated videos in vocabulary learning is effective but depends on the condition and level of disability in students. Teachers also encounter challenges and difficulties when teaching vocabulary to students with disabilities using animated videos. Applications/Originality/Value: This study highlights teachers' views and obstacles in using video animation to teach disabled students vocabulary. It emphasizes the necessity for customized resources, teacher training, and flexible animation techniques to assist special needs student learning.

Abstract

Purpose: The role of fathers in early childhood care plays an important role in character formation, including the character of responsibility. This study aims to examine how father's involvement affects the development of responsibility character in early childhood. Methodology: Although there have been many studies that have discussed the important role of fathers in parenting, previous studies have often focused on general aspects of fathers' involvement without delving into specific contexts, such as the type of work or family structure. Some studies also tend to emphasize quantitative engagement (how often dads are present) without looking at the quality of the interactions made. The subjects of this study are children with fathers who have different parenting involvements, where some fathers have limited time in parenting. Data were collected through interviews and observations of children and their fathers, using a qualitative approach. The data analysis technique used is thematic analysis to identify patterns of fatherly involvement and its impact on the formation of responsibility character. Results: The results of the study show that limited involvement of fathers, both due to busy work and family conditions, has a negative impact on the formation of children's responsible character. Applications/Originality/Value: The results of the study show that limited involvement of fathers, both due to busy work and family conditions, has a negative impact on the formation of children's responsible character.

Abstract

Purpose: Interactive technology and applications have been widely used in learning, but studies that comprehensively evaluate their effectiveness through student activity, learning efficiency, learning outcomes, and teacher and student sat-isfaction levels are still limited. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of the Pear Deck application in learning to write poetry texts at SMAN 1 Karanganom based on these four aspects. Methodology: The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with a case study re-search design. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires from 35 students in class XI E SMAN 1 Karanganom, Klaten. Data analysis was carried out based on five stages according to John W. Cre-swell and J. David Creswell: (1) preparing the data, (2) displaying the data, (3) encrypting the data, (4) compiling descriptions and themes, and (5) pre-senting the results. Data validity is guaranteed through triangulation of tech-niques and sources. Results: The results of the study show that students are active during the learning pro-cess, with good interaction between peers and teachers. Learning runs effi-ciently because all students can complete the exercises on time. As many as 74% of students obtained a score in the good category, and 26 out of 35 stu-dents expressed satisfaction with the use of the Pear Deck application in learning to write poetry. Applications/Originality/Value: This research provides new insights in evaluating technology-based learning as a whole using four main aspects. These findings are useful for teachers in starting the effectiveness of learning technology.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chat GPT and hard work character on students' critical thinking skills. Methodology: This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational design. The popu-lation in this study was 5,582,774 students who live in Java. The sample tak-en in this study was 270 students. Data collection techniques involve distrib-uting questionnaires to students who fit the criteria. This study uses prerequi-site test data analysis techniques, namely the normality test, multicollinearity test, and heteroscedasticity test. Hypothesis testing is done using the T test and F test. Results: The results showed a positive relationship between the use of Chat GPT and students' critical thinking skills. There is a positive influence between the use of Chat GPT on critical thinking skills characterized by 207 or 76.7% of stu-dents have high knowledge, skills in using, and frequency of using Chat GPT. There is also a positive relationship between the character of hard work and students' critical thinking skills, which is characterized by 208 or 77% of students having a hard work character during their college life. Students who have critical thinking skills or high level thinking are 241 or 89.3% of students. Applications/Originality/Value: This research can be a reference material for developing more effective learning methods in the digital era. The renewal of this research with previ-ous studies is because it combines two variables simultaneously, namely the use of Chat GPT and the character of hard work on students' critical thinking skills.
